After research, @GreshandZo say that the Pats ran the push play on a FG v. Saints. Makes it possible Jets/Rex put refs on alert yesterday.

This was the penalty that nullified a missed Jets FG and gave them another attempt that won the game.

100% Official NFL Rule Clarifications Webpage, Coach (http://miketanier.sportsonearthblog.com/100-official-nfl-rule-clarifications-coach/)

...

Rule One of Life Any coach caught whining about losing a game on a rule technicality, when his entire career and reputation was built on a game he won on a rule technicality, will be penalized with one (1) week of snarky commentary. On the second (2nd) offense, three Super Bowl championships are voided. So watch it.

I mean the rule was just added but good job by Rex for noticing that and taking advantage.

Yes, but his explanation about "not a push from second level" speaks either to poor judgement or dissembling.

Hey, I read it on the internet and it must be true (http://www.csnne.com/blog/patriots-talk/nfl-muddled-explanation-fateful-rule-change)

Try the rule book next time Chief. (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/10/20/nfl-com-article-contributes-to-confusion-regarding-rule-that-burned-pats/)

According to PFT, Willie Colon of the Jets said he heard the refs telling the Pats on one of the Jets first FG attempts to watch out for the pushing a teammate. Looks like they didn't heed the warning.

No Jets fan, but the Pats deserved to lose that game, especially after being warned.
