"One of the things that drew me to [Minnesota] was the makeup of the team," Jennings told KFAN-FM, via ESPN.com. "When I came over here, I was kind of brainwashed. There's no 'kind of' to it. Being over in Green Bay, you're brainwashed to think anyone in the division is tiers below."

"It's like everything that you know in Green Bay is like the best, the best, the best, the best, the best," Jennings continued. "And it's like total brainwashing. And I think you don't open your eyes to see what other teams have to offer unless you are in that position, and I was afforded this position."

Well, now he knows what other teams have to offer.

Even after the fact I think Slocum needs to go. His best years have been average special teams. The performance of the Offense and Defense lead me to conclude that he has the athletes to do better.

He's not a total lost cause. He has helped to develop a good punter and taught both kickers to tackle. He has also arranged very good onside kicks and onside kick coverage. But the basic four teams are terrible. Yes its worse now with all the injuries and the injuries are worst at LB and TE, special team staples. His best rating that I am aware of on Football Outsiders was 10th this year. This team is more talented than that.

I have stayed out of the Fire Slocum thread until last week. As I said I always try to look for the best in people.

You have to admit our special teams are horrible. If the other team has a competent kick or punt returner you have the feeling that they are going to bust one against our coverage.

Hopefully Hester will be out this week for the Bears.

Seriously, if ONE analyst on TV would mention that its WHEN you get those yards and that the situation is very important, it would go a long way to restoring my faith in color commentary.

That said, there might be no better year than THIS year to suddenly be able to run the ball. With 20 plus runs a game making hay, Rodgers is exposed less.

Also, it amazing how different Starks and Lacy are as runners. Its a nice changeup.

I thought that Lacy would not have scored on that TD by Starks. Starks has a bit more burst than Lacy does. Agree with you though that they compliment each other well.

If you think back on it, has Starks ever really looked ineffective? Sure, he has had better and worse games; but he almost always looks the part of a capable NFL RB. If he can only stay on the field for more than 3 or 4 games without a significant injury.

He's perfect as a backup role now. Comes in fresh throughout the game and greatly limits his exposure to injury. The Pack just needed someone like Lacy to take the pressure and need off of Starks.

Previously, when he has returned to action, either from backup role or injury in previous seasons, there was often a hesitation or bad steps while choosing a hole. And it doesn't seem like the good hesitation you see with Lacy's patience, it looked like indecision after he had blown his best chance. It always seemed to take him a couple of games to get fully in sync.

But we now have two different explanations for that. One is better run blocking tackles, and switched guards. The other is in season, padded half line drills. More work like that might solve his need to get up to speed with the O line.

Maybe, so long as Lacy stays healthy. But as a backup, Starks is such a risk, because when you need him as opposed to when you simply choosing to use him, he gets injured.

I think with Starks there is also a third reason. During TC he said he had a whole new attitude about not worrying about his injuries, and just going all out all of the time, because his future depended on it. I was impressed at his candor with himself about his situation as a fourth year player who had shown little so far.

I thought there was a run or two where Starks tried to run with patience and it bit him; but mostly he was really impressive. He looked quicker and faster than Lacy, and really ran with some power.
Lacy had a lot of carries last night, I'm a little worried about him holding up. (Hitting the rookie wall, his injury history, etc.)
I hope they give Starks more carries -- if he can stay healthy.

Kind of crazy to see Lacy outgain Peterson, and Starks almost do it.
