I'm worried.

As you ALL know, I seldom watch the Packer games live. I record them and watch later. However, because of a busy TIVO schedule tonight, and my antiquated service that allows us to record only two channels at a time, I can not record the game.

I will have to watch it live.

Is this a bad omen?

I am unable to watch the game at all. Third game this year and so far the Pack are 2-0 when I don't watch. Hopefully that counteracts your situation.

To add to that, I have to go to my daughter's first ever parent-teacher conference at 6:40 pm local time and will miss the first quarter. The Packers are 2-0 this year when I tune in late.

When my son wears either his Rodgers jersey or Matthews jersey the Pack is 0-2. He no longer gets to wear them on game day but during the week to school. The Pack is 5-0 without the jersey.

I loved living in Cali during the football season. Packer game was 10-1 and then you had all of Sunday afternoon to do whatever. Monday night games started at 6pm back then and you could hit the bars, drink, watch the game and be home by 10:30.

Should be a good game. Curious to see how McCarthy manages Lacy's carries. He said he wants it to be more around 20, so I can see Lacy for about 20 and Starks for 10 or so. You need to take advantage of the 29th ranked run defense.

My parents live in Arizona and it's the same way pretty much. SNF and MNF start at 5:30. You can even do something after the game if you choose. And like you said, you have all of Sunday afternoon for whatever. If the Badgers play at 9 AM on Saturday, which they do often, you also have all day Saturday for whatever.

Our local High School has a second round playoff game tonight at home with a 7:30 CST start time but I think I'll hang around and watch the Packers instead. They're playing a team they beat earlier in the season and it's small town 8-man football which I still have a hard time enjoying because the games are usually more like track meets with very high scoring. Maybe since Goodel and the NFL are so intent on having high scoring/Maddenesque type games they should change to an 8-man format.

Won't matter fellas. Pack will have 200+ yards rushing, I even picked up Starks this week as a third running back and starting him in flex. 38-17. Put it on the board.

Where do you live? I'd only ever heard of 8 man football when I lived in Nebraska for a short time. Do you have the 45 point rule where you live?

I'm in West-Central Iowa Chann. We were still 11-man football back when I was in High School but because of reduced enrollment and all the small school consolidations that have taken place in the past 10-15 years many of the small schools like ours were forced to change to the 8-man format due to the lack of opponents in our district. As it is, many of these small schools still have to travel 2 hours or even longer to their games which really sucks. Currently there aren't any, "mercy" rules in place and games with teams scoring 60-80 points are quite common. The team that we will probably face in the next round is ranked number 1 in the state in this class and they were ahead of their 1st round playoff opponent last week 60-0 at halftime!

I think you're correct that the 8-man format originated in Nebraska or someplace where the schools were too small to field 11-man teams. I'd never even heard of it until about 15 or so years ago. I guess our current claim to fame is that we're the only school in Iowa to have won state championships in both Class A 11-man when I was a Junior and now the 8-man format a couple of years ago.

It's not quite "Deliverance" out here Red but considering I just moved back after living the last 25 years in places between Milwaukee and Chicago it's definitely a culture shock! Lol! In fact I just moved after living near Burlington, WI. which is where I think Cheesehead Craig said he was from. (Tony Romo's hometown.) Oh well, when family is involved and parents start getting older I guess you have to do what you have to do.

Yeah it was definitely due to the small high schools. I actually went to high school in Nebraska in a small town of 1000 and our high school was only 100 students. About 30 kids were on the football team each year and we routinely had to drive at least 40 minutes for football games, if not farther. Ironically, the closest high school to us was in a town only a bit bigger (3000 pop.) and they had 11 man football.

The 45 point mercy rule was a god send with many of our games ending sometime in the 3rd quarter. The last thing I think most of us wanted to do was stand/play in the cold weather in October in a blow out win/loss.
