Just wanted everybody to remember that you should be cheering for the Riders to win over the Lions on Sunday starting at 430 Et. We already enjoy cheering against the asshat Lions, so it will feel natural and good.

I've always been partial to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. I'm going to start rooting for the Riders in the Western Conference. Both teams are just north of my home state. Wikipedia states they are both community owned.

Because they are just like the lions in detroit, they suck and are cheap dirty little scumbags. Winnipeg is like the vikings, bunch of asshats every last one of them and dont even get me started on the two bears of the north, calgary and edmonton two teams cut from the same cloth - that cloth being a used diaper - who would sell their own grandmother for a new pair of socks.

So that is why you cheer for the riders (unless you have mental issues).

I'm sticking with Winnipeg. They ship some of their best hockey players (e.g. Jonathan Toews) to my favorite college hockey school. I see Weston Dressler plays for the Riders. I wondered where he went. How do the playoffs work. So, I'll root for a Blue Bombers vs. Roughriders Grey Cup. Love the name Roughriders. The #1 Roughrider (Teddy Roosevelt) lived in my home state.

Weston Dressler is one of the top wr in the league right now and has made an impact since day one. His only issue is injuries (so I assume the packers wil look at him in the off season). As much as I would love to see your grey cup match up, Winnipeg is not in the playoffs. I appreciate the riders head nod so here is a little history (thanks to wikipedia)

The team draws fans from across Saskatchewan and Canada who are affectionately known as the "Rider Nation".[1] Their loyalty is all the more remarkable since the Roughriders play in the smallest market in the CFL, and the second-smallest major-league market in North America (behind only Green Bay, Wisconsin). They have finished first in the Western Division seven times and have won the Western championship a record 27 times.
The Riders' biggest rival is the Winnipeg Blue Bombers; games between the two are often sold out before the beginning of the season.[2] The Roughriders Football Club and the city of Regina have been chosen to host the 101st Grey Cup in 2013.
The origin of the name has multiple theories, one of which describes how the North-West Mounted Police were called Roughriders because they broke the wild horse broncos that were used by the force and the moniker was adopted from them. Another states that the name was adopted from Theodore Roosevelt's cavalry contingent that was known as the Rough Riders, who fought in the Spanish–American War. It was believed that there were Canadian troops in the contingent that returned to Canada following the war and moved out west.
The Riders also use a pair of "borrowed" songs--the team's victory march/touchdown song "Green is the Colour" (edited copy of the original "Blue Is the Colour (song)" written by D Boone and R McQueen for the Chelsea Football Club) and "On Roughriders" (edited from On Wisconsin, the fight song for the Wisconsin Badgers)

" Rider fans are also known for dressing up in unique and often bizarre Rider-themed costumes, the most popular being the watermelon helmet" and we even have foam watermelon hats much like the foam cheese heads.
The above was some short little tidbits from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saskatchewan_Roughriders
Kinda neat you brought up Teddy! I also highlighted a couple of potential reasons why you too should be a riders fan if your from Wisconsin and a Packers fan

Sorry but:

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers 'bombed' this season and didn't make the playoffs. They finished the regular season schedule with a horrific 3-15 record.

So you'll be more up to date on what the Blue Bombers have done over the past two decades:

http://www.winnipegsun.com/2013/11/07/you-be-the-bombers-boss-the-results

" Bomber Nation has spoken, and it wants to see major changes this winter on Ken Ploen Way.

This isn’t much of a surprise when you consider the team’s 3-15 record, but never before have fans wanted to see so much turnover in the franchise that has gone 23 years without a Grey Cup.

Usually the Blue and Gold supporters want to see two or three players given their walking papers, but this year they want 12 to be punted. There are another two players, defensive back Jovon Johnson and punter Mike Renaud, who got 50-50 splits, and Johnson was the CFL’s most outstanding defensive player two years ago.

No, the fans are not happy — and rightly so."

That's the way the cookie crumbles digitaldean.

The Alouettes lost a great HC in Marc Trestman. A period of adjustment because of that.

I wonder if Anthony Calvillo will hang em up. He's been a marvelous QB for the Montreal Alouettes. His career has been truly marvelous.

The Als overall had a down season and need to re-tool. I did think they could handle the Tiger-Cats but nope !

101st Grey Cup in Regina - Saskatchewan Roughriders (11-7) vs Hamilton Tiger-Cats (10-8) in Regina, Saskatchewan

Sunday, November 24 at 6pm et/3pm PT on TSN

"Roughriders welcome old friends Kent Austin, Andy Fantuz, Henry Burris (former Green Bay Packer Backup QB), and Eric Tillman as they search for home field Grey Cup victory."

A little history on Saskatchewan Roughriders Vs Hamilton Tiger-Cats:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/77th_Grey_Cup

77th Grey Cup - 1989

" The 77th Grey Cup was the 1989 Canadian Football League championship game played between the Saskatchewan Roughriders and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats at SkyDome in Toronto, ON. The Roughriders defeated the Tiger-Cats, 43-40 on Dave Ridgway's winning field-goal. It is arguably, but widely considered, especially among Saskatchewan Roughriders fans, the best and most exciting Grey Cup game ever played."

Enjoy this week UpNorth.... Ohh what a party...Grey Cup Week in Regina, Saskatchewan.

I will not be able to be in Regina till Thursday, but I will try to find time to post some of the party atmosphere this week in the thread. Man am I pumped!!! Playing Burris and Austin, two people who bailed on Saskatchewan, for the cup will be an added bonus. They are a good team, but our running game is back and with the snow and cold that could help a lot on SUnday at 6PM eastern!!!

Riderville was insane last night. Wow just wow. Moving kinda slow this am. It was a sea of green. Went to the Atlantic schooner pavilion for awhile, man those east coasters can be fun. Edmonton pavilion was fun as well, it is the Riderville overflow party place. A friend went to a hotel bar and everyone was in green there as well. I have seen some Hamilton fans and they were high fiving everyone just being happy to be hear. On the news they were saying there have been surprisingly few party related issues so far.
In summation Go Riders Go!

Riders favoured over Ticats to win Grey Cup

Sportsbooks have the [B]Roughriders listed six-point favourites for this weekend’s 101st Grey Cup game, with both home-field advantage and recent CFL betting trends working in their favour for the contest.

Ohh NO! So the East coasters we're at it again. Fricken wild and crazy people at a Grey Cup or Briar. Did you meet any fans from NFLD or Blue Nosers from NS?

In my experience the best Party Animals the most fun are the Neufies.

Neufies don't go anywhere without their 'High Water' boots. Their especially popular with the ladies at a bar or dance. These are the guys with the big boats and all the money.

It must be awesome to be so relaxed watching your team bring a huge game home by a wide margin. It seems like so long since I felt that way as a Packer fan.

I literally run through the house while the Packers are playing. Run back and forth between the TV and puter.

ROUGHRIDERS TOP TICATS TO WIN 101ST GREY CUP AT HOME

The Saskatchewan Roughriders used home-field advantage and a torrid second quarter to pace their fourth championship in franchise history on Sunday, topping the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 45-23 in the 101st Grey Cup at Mosaic Stadium.

The Riders put the pedal down in the second quarter, pouring on 24 points to take a 25-point lead into half-time, leaning on the legs of running back Kory Sheets.
