That was my immediate response after seeing the story about Thurmond. Even if the team is not actively causing the drug abuses, it is negligent in educating, supervising and monitoring it's players. There seems to be a "culture" of drug use.

Their team bus should have been a clue as to their culture of drug use:

Well, now, maybe this is what McGinn meant by having to fix soft n' small.

Makes those Seahawks DBs big AND fast.

How about a poster campaign:

Place posters in the locker room and in the washroom walls and stalls.

Naw ! Too much like being jawed every day by your mother.

LOL

browner and his agent denied that it was for PED's

so the league just came forward and said it isn't for PED's but for violations of the banned substance thingie, and that he's not facing an 8 game suspension but a full season suspension

want to open your mouth again brandon, maybe try and make it 2 years?

@JasonLaCanfora: Spoke to a source with knowledge of Brandon Browner’s status who said he did not have another positive test for PEDs …

Not for PEDs. Schefter and Mike Silver have it (Silver actually corrected his report) as a violation of the substance abuse policy.

If they were to win the superbowl this year, there will be a lot of discussion as to whether it's tainted.

Golden Tate: Teammates selfish

Updated: November 26, 2013, 8:50 PM ET

RENTON, Wash. --

" Seattle Seahawks receiver Golden Tate said cornerbacks Walter Thurmond and Brandon Browner were "selfish" by forcing the NFL to suspend them for substance abuse.

"Everyone should realize where this team is," Tate said Tuesday on 710 ESPN radio Seattle. "You are affecting way more than yourself. I feel like that was kind of a selfish move on both those guys part.

"But it is what it is. The show must go on and that's what we're gonna do."..."

Appearing on Monday Night Countdown, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Seahawks RCB Brandon Browner has been suspended one year for violating the league's substance-abuse policy.

" NFL Network's Mike Silver was partly right; he initially reported Browner was facing an eight-game suspension for violating the league's policy on PEDs. Silver then changed his report and said Browner was facing some sort of suspension for violating the league's substance-abuse policy. Browner has appealed the ban and is waiting to hear back from the NFL. It's a colossal blow to the Seahawks' defense. They'll now be without both Browner and CB Walter Thurmond III (four-game suspension) for at least the next four games. Thurmond III will be back for the playoffs. Browner now won't be eligible to return until Week 13 next season at the earliest. He's also set to become a free agent in the spring and has a lengthy record of violating league rules. The Seahawks reportedly have no plans to re-sign him. Browner turns 30 next August. " Nov 25 - 7:45 PM

The situation surrounding Browner is kind of messy. He was in the league in 2005, then played in the CFL. Apparently, the reason he is in stage 3 of the treatment program is because he missed mandated tests...while he was not playing in the NFL!

True enough, and Browner could have gotten to stage 3 other ways. I don't know how the program works, how many infractions, etc. He could've had a violation in 2005 when he was with Denver, the suspension last year upped him a level, and this infraction put him in stage 3? Seems like Florio is wrong, he was not already in stage 3 when he returned to the NFL, or last year's suspension would've cost him a year.
