Vikings are hiring Mike Zimmer as their HC, per league source.

Interesting. They follow up a defensive coach with a defensive coach. Teams often seem to flip.

Yeah.

But Zim is a real Parcells-type hard ass, a departure from the easy going Frazier.

You'd think the Bengals won a Superbowl or two, wouldn't you?

These things can easily go either way. He has a heck of a reputation in the League as a DC, whether he will be a good Head Coach or a Rex Ryan remains to be seen.

It's very likely the OC is Linehan.

One candidate Vikings HC Mike Zimmer is considering as his offensive coordinator is Browns OC Norv Turner, per league sources.

Woo-Hoo!

Sure Adrian Peterson will still run over teams, but I cannot wait to see Ponder, Cassell and Freeman throwing deep on every passing down.

He would need to move again. The Falcons just hired him to be their line coach.

It'll be interesting to see if the Vikings spend big money in FA, or draft to fill Zimmer's defensive scheme.

Plus that whole QB problem.

They have some good players. They might need some LBs and a CB or two. It'll be interesting to see what becomes of Floyd on that DL.

Zim plays 4-3 and some combo.

the Vikes have the parts around to do what Zim likes on D.

I wonder if he will hire a DC

Their rookie corner was coming on strong this year before getting hurt, so was the wideout. Maybe they sign Shields and/or Raji, draft a QB, a LB or two and are right in the mix again.

Floyd had a terrible start to the year but improved to ok. Being 6-2 (or whatever) with T-Rex arms won't help against a lot of big interior OLs. He is quick and Zimmer will find a way to use him.
Jared Allen and Kevin Williams are FA's...my guess is they don't bring back one (or both) of them, and use that money to bring in some blue collar guys that both know and fit the scheme Zimmer wants to run. I expect a few people from Cincy to follow him.
Allen's cap number was like Top 15-QB money IIRC.

They do have a QB problem. If Turner is the OC Peterson will either blow out everything (sports hernia, knee, etc.) from overuse or break 3000 yards.
Big offseason for GM Spielman. They have lots of needs. They also have cap money and draft picks in the top 10 of each round.

Scary thought: had Minny not blown all those late 4Q leads they'd have won the division.
In a perfect world they'd hire some retread like Bill Callahan.

They do have a WR who can be Irving-like. And Turner showed in Cleveland that he still likes to go vertical. Patterson can be every bit as good as Josh Gordon. Q is will they have someone who can get him the ball?

Roger Goodell and the owners add 2 teams to the playoffs and 2 extra games to the regular season.

They also remove kickoffs, remove punts, and pass rushers must count until 3 Mississippi until they can rush the QB.

The Bengals' Michael Johnson could hit the FA market. It's possible he follows Zimmer.

Zim's tough and great but he has no base, too top heavy. 165 pound Pedro Martinez took him down with a shoulder grab. Terrible pad level Zim!

Everyone is lauding this as a great hire. Didn't they do this when the queens hired Frazier? As long as they keep screwing up at getting a QB they won't be a problem.

Roger Goodell and the owners add 2 teams to the playoffs and 2 extra games to the regular season.

They also remove kickoffs, remove punts, and pass rushers must count until 3 Mississippi until they can rush the QB.

Under those rules the only way the Packers don't win 3 straight SB's is if the injuries piling up with 2 extra games means the Packers have to forfeit their final game.

In further news that hits closer to home:

Green Bay Packer Cheerleaders are now allowed to fully co-mingle with Packer Opponents Players on their sidelines.

The NFL Head Office has suggested that all Packer Cheerleaders dress down and "of course" in accordance with the weather conditions and with some attention to good taste.

Yet insists that all facial hair be removed.

This instruction from NFL HQ's was prompted by this photo:

An outrage for some Packer fans.

100's of Packer fans are organizing to ensure that Cheerleaders look more appropriate and offer a better distraction:

Packers Head Coach Mike McCarthy Remarked ...

Hell Yea .. it might work !!

In Packer Green and Gold Of course. Then again...maybe not.

I think this may be a a good hire Ras, much to my dismay. If he gets a OC who can make hash from QB leftovers, you are going to be trouble next year.

Congratulations on making Packer life worse.

Norv is unofficially a Viking according to PFT. I would start doubling Cordarrelle Patterson now.

Have to admit I'm pretty happy a first time defensive head coach tabbed a proven offensive coach as OC. I'm not predicting a bunch of success but I do believe improvement shall be made by a significant factor over Musgrave and Williams.
