Witnesses claim Jimmy became agitated as several children on tricycles passed him by.

I was recently listening to ESPN 1070 and they were discussing who was gracious with giving autographs and who was not. Somehow JIMMY came up, and apparely he is the worst person to try to deal with when giving autographs. Rodgers used to be good but not so much anymore. But Jimmy was described as being in another level.

I thought they might too, especially after Turner got hurt, and Veldheer referred to the injury and tweeted that the Packers should call him. He gave up ZERO pressures in 58 pass plays last year. He played LT for a lot of years, so I imagine could still step in for Bakhtiari if he had to. I'm not sure what their backup plan is for Bakhtiari.

Some guys are their own worst enemy.

Remember Josh Hawkins, the CB? Played quite a bit for a couple years when the Packers DB cupboard was quite bare. He was released when Alexander and Jackson were drafted. He has been bouncing around, mostly on practice squads, and found his way to the Titans practice squad this year.

He showed up on social media over the weekend, dancing in a crowded establishment, not wearing a mask.

Not many fond memories of this x Packer, but Dept...

Richard Rogers, the plodding TE that never did pan out here, pulled a good one.

He caught a Hail Mary from Wentz at the end of the game vs the Seahhawks. That score plus the 2 pointer enabled the Eagle birds to cover the 6.5 pt spread. That cover cost some poor fool a cool $500,000 that he would have won if the Seahawks had covered. Presuming this was a Hawk fan that lost his ass, it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy, right?

Rogers never did pop any consistent talent. Just plodded along for his whole Packer career. His biggest mark in the league is his ability to catch Hail Mary passes. He caught the one vs Detroit in '15, now this one vs the Seahawks. If they expand the rosters next season maybe he can catch on as a Hail Mary specialist.

They both suck. No wonder you got them mixed up, KY.

But they suck in different ways, I think. Josh Jones was a Ted Thompson special - a fantastic athlete who Ted must've thought could learn the ways of an NFL safety. He never could, of course. He had no instincts whatsoever and a fairly large ego, which made learning even more impossible.

Josh Jackson was a Gutey pick - in this case, a very productive college guy who had limited athleticism.

But yeah, they both suck. And I'm with George Cumby - Josh Jackson can't help the Chiefs pick up any nuances of Joe Barry's defense, because Josh Jackson couldn't pick up the nuances of anyone's defensive system. Or so it seemed. Or maybe it was just that he was too slow and too grabby. But I don't think the dude ever even played well or much on special teams.

Joemailman

Rashan Gary did eat Jones’ lunch the other day, though, which was surprising b/c, according to Fritz, the U of Michigan is known for it’s schoolers, not edge rushers. Fritz proclaimed Gary a bust the moment he was drafted.

He was never terribly fast but seemed capable of diagnosing plays accurately and took good angles, as well as dealing well with blockers. Yea, prior to free agency it was usually the backup QB since they didn't change so often. I'm not so convinced punters are so consistently on the roster now days either. I mean if we had taught Love to hold he certainly has had a longer stint than the last 2 punters.

That makes more sense to me. Punter is hanging out with the ST anyway and has more time to work with the long snapper as his practice is limited to punting the ball few enough times to avoid leg fatigue. And the punter also has to handle long snaps already. I guess it makes sense, but if you have a really good punter that can't hold, I would look for alternatives....not that our punter was good in December as Fritz mentions.

Since Mandarich had a relatively decent career as a guard for the Colts, I'd say the Leatherwood pick was a total BUST.

You may be right about that. Leatherwood has played 0 snaps so far this year. For the BEARS.
If he doesn't show something his career could be over in less than 12 months.

Per PFF:

The Raiders shopped Leatherwood this summer but were unable to find any buyers. He earned a 57.7 PFF grade this summer exclusively playing right tackle in the preseason. Last year, while playing right tackle and right guard, he earned a 45.5 PFF grade during the regular season and playoffs.

“The tape was so bad, man,” the scout said. “He’ll benefit from a fresh start and their scheme, but he’s got a ways to go.”

I'd consider Mandarich a bust (but not a total bust) because while he did have a brief post-GB career, he busted out for GB given where he was drafted.
Compare with AJ Hawk, taken 5th but played for GB for 9 years, missing 2 games during that time and racking up 900+ tackles and 19 sacks. Hawk wasn't a playmaker, but he was available and a lot better than many ILBs they've had since until recently.

It'd be good for him to stick so when he scores the Dagger TD, we can say the Packers gave the opponent the NyQuil.

Not pursuing the dream. Sorry I don't know how to embed the tweet. Shields says he wouldn't do it again. He sounds bad. I had a traumatic brain injury and it got much worse the last 6 years. I'm not nearly as bad as Sam sounds, but I am pretty much unable to do any work. At least I have no problem reading (the one thing that doesn't bother me). Post Concussion Syndrome is not worth the money: I can verify. And it can be completely debilitating and life threatening. Anyways, this is a link to the tweet. The whole interview is linked there.

Right as he was about to be named starter too. That Raiders team has a case of the McDaniels.

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/nfl-linebacker-retires-selling-rare-151500443.html
after seven years in the league, Las Vegas Raiders linebacker Blake Martinez has retired mid-season for a different reason: He’s making enough money selling Pokémon cards—recently selling a very rare card for nearly $700,000—and doesn’t need the income he gets from playing anymore.

In the "JK we didn't miss you" dept...

Ex GBP punter JK Scott is now toiling for LA Chargers. After being cut by two teams, Scott has learned the job and is kicking to the catch point and allowing his teammates to cover his kicks. Haven't seen any a22 on the boy, but part of his learning curve includes getting the boys good kicks to cover includes him not having to make an ass of himself chickening out on coverage tackles. He's learned what you have to do to not get fired, let's see if he can stick with this club.

I remember early in his rookie year he looked like a difference maker in terms of flipping the field with high booming punts. Inconsistency was his problem and I think he was changing his mechanics which led to some shanks. Kind of played scared too. At least he could hold for Crosby.

Good for him for catching on with LAC after a few kicks for JAX.

Geronimo Allison in Green Bay for a workout.

Reminds me of the time I watched a guy lose $3 million playing baccarat. He stormed off leaving 2 $20 bills on the table. The waitress ran after him, "sir, you left this on the table". He snapped it out of her hands and said "yea, that should help". Thats similar to how I feel about Geronimo Allison.

Geronimo Allison should not be signed. He has no upside and adds nothing to the group. Can he play ST? Can he run the 40 under a 4.7? Dude hasn't caught a pass since 2019.
I'd take Danny Davis over him. They already have Fulghum on the PS, are they trying to form an oldies band?

They should be focused on the future and figuring out who should stay on the roster...there is no receiver out there they can fit under their cap who will move the needle.

I assume so. Had the Brownies cut Cooper (not happening) the Texans are at the top of the waiver wire -- so he'd be claimed. Maybe NewsBruin knows something we don't.

As for Amari Rodgers, he's getting opportunities at WR he never really did for GB... and they don't have him fielding punts.

Actually, pbmax's comment at #25 (page 2) is pretty interesting as far as players acquired and how many did better elsewhere after leaving GB. The list is pretty short, which confirms what I already knew: they have always been pretty good at keeping their own good players, and usually pretty good at knowing when someone either doesn't have it or there's not much left in the tank.

They've had some concerning lack of self-scouting moments with MLF - e.g., thinking Jake Hanson is one of your best 5 OL to start, not moving Savage to the slot, replacing Newman with Tom, Rodgers' RPO tendencies, running out of shotgun with Dillon, etc. -- but I think that's on the coaches not the front office. I think for purposes of roster construction and player acquisition/retention they are pretty good.

those guys are watching the practices, they are watching other players around the league and in CFB, they better know if a player is any good if they want to keep their jobs.

Zadarius is something of a mercenary, out-for-himself guy. Given the length of NFL careers, I somewhat understand - he's trying to maximize his earnings - but I question the way he does it. The exit from GB, the almost signing with BAL, now MIN.
He wanted Minny to trade/cut him and they finally did. I suspect he's the type where if he's unhappy he can ruin a locker room. I wonder how many teams will cross him off their FA list when his contract ends.
