Oh, absolutely. That Twitter account is damn funny at times. But I gathered there was a Patriotic pre-game theme from another reporter that he was psyched to finally get a chance to defeat the British again in the Super Bowl.

Those were tough challenge rules. You could not let the flag touch the ground without having to take a TO to ceremonially burn the challenge flag and the other team, if it did not agree with the challenge ruling, would try to outflank your right with artillery and calvary.

Aw shit, thinking like Tank. I think I'l go so my head.
Was just discussing that. No standout for Seattle, truly a team effort. Harvin has had his impact on the game, but only what, 4 or 5 touches? Lynch hasn't blown the doors off. Just watched Kearse reel in another unlikely one catch, he's played well but I don't see him getting it. My guess would be that Wilson gets it by default, and it's looking like he'll rack up some stats in the 4th quarter to make it look good. Press/NFL/whoever give the award is pretty brainless that way, it's the winning QB's award unless he loses it.
If I was handing it out, it would go to the Seattle secondary as a unit. Manning was ineffective, and that's not because, well, I don't know, but there's one reason, and it's that Seattle's secondary did an incredible job today.

Chicken and egg maybe. Can't throw early, get rushed and can't go to other reads. But Seattle played a lot of coverage short and dared those throws, then the rush got to him or their hands on the ball.
Denver's best success came in the middle of the field but he rarely had a clean pocket to allow those routes to get there.

The CFO from my company is Seattle GM John Schneider's sister. She was at the game today with the whole family. Going to be a big party in the Big Apple tonight! Congrats to the Seahawks.
I still think Pete Carroll is a little smarmy with his ducking USC before the sanctions hammer came down. But I'm happier than heck for former Badgers Russell Wilson, Chris Maragos and O'Brien Schofield.
Amazingly Joe Buck said something profound about Wilson...that he is a born leader. He exuded that when he was at Wisconsin and is one of the few classy players on that Seattle squad. He made plays today, but that defense rattled Manning. In fact, after that safety Manning didn't look himself the remainder of the game. The Denver defense tackled worse than the Packer's D did this year.
Felt really bad for Montee Ball. 3 straight Rose Bowl losses and then this train wreck of a game. He is a very good back that will hopefully make it back again someday.
Denver's D did their part in keeping Seattle to an 8 point lead after the 2 Seattle trips to the red zone. Then a disaster turned into a complete clusterf*** for Denver. They couldn't block, they couldn't hold onto the ball, Manning threw a bunch of wounded ducks out there.

Sherman was right!
Sherman wins it all!
It actually felt good typing that.

How is Denver this morning? Flags at half mast? I heard fireworks after the game around here but I figured it was just the locals blowing their brains out.

Adam Gase should have taken a job while he had a chance. Broncos Defense has had some trouble but they are still fighting.
Broncos offense doesn't know what to do.
If Bob McGinn worked in Denver he would write that McCoy was the real brains behind Denver's Offense and he wouldn't have been bamboozled by the Seahawks.
The screens and crossers they used to such great effect all year were not gaining much and getting guys blasted. They had a ton of 20+ plays on those. Seattle was giving them to Denver and then just plastering the WR. DT caught a bunch of balls and was looking to avoid contact. They'd get him going sideways and he was done.
Maybe M3 was onto something when he was looking to go deep on them. Manning had guys open deep a few times and just couldn't make the throws.

People are in shock, I think. Everyone's pretty muted so far.
Being a Packers fan and seeing how the Seahawks and 9ers play ball against our team, I wasn't surprised at how they played. I think Denver was surprised by how physical the Seahawks were, and I think Denver's fans were not ready to see that.

Denver's tackles are terrible pass blockers on speed rushes. The RT can be bulled as well. Awful. This line looks a lot like this year's Packers O line at times.
Amazing how losing an All-Pro LT changes things, eh? A lot of people didn't feel like the Broncos really missed Ryan Clady and his hefty contract this year. Last night they sure missed him.
Same with Von Miller, who will be up for a new contract soon. They needed him badly.

Yeah, like the Packers, they were just a fingernail length away from advancing.
Maybe San Fransisco needs to Fire Fangio! Get some FAs!

Ron Wolf used to say that Packer fans were spoiled by having Favre, and not realizing what a lot of other teams had to put up with at QB. Now we continue to be spoiled by Rodgers.
But, I think we were also spoiled by nearly 10 years having Clifton and Tauscher at tackles. Maybe neither was quite elite as an all-around tackle, but both were just so solid as pass blockers that neither one needed help in the passing game whether they faced speed rushers or power rusher. Tauscher sometimes looked like he was hanging on by his fingernails, but hang on he did.

Security a little lax at the postgame PC apparently.

Interesting note, I heard on the radio that Fox "turned the simulated crowd noise down" at their pre-superbowl practices because the crowd at superbowls is usually pretty quiet. That sure looked like a bad decision right from the jump last night.

I am thinking this more and more. Earl Thomas is probably the exception, but you don't get your CB core in the middle to late rounds without giving up something. If they have size and technique (at least quasi-legal grabbing) then the top end speed might be where you take them on.
But you have to pass protect.

Absolutely. After watching Seatte at SF and then watching them play again in the playoffs, I'm amazed that these guys made it through the season with as few injuries as they have. Even when you are dishing out blows like they do, you still usually get beat up.

They started losing DBs near the end of the game and suddenly Denver looked capable of completing a pass.

Rice either won't be coming back at all, or will be coming back at a greatly reduced rate. We will see where Seattle goes from here, it's much harder to sustain success. Both Sherman and Thomas' contracts are up after the 2014 season, have to believe at least one of them will get an extension this summer. They get at least one more year of a cheap Russel Wilson as he's not eligible for a new contract until after next season.
