Tonight...BIG Night... for AJ HAWK...

For AJ it's a Homecoming of sort's. Our first round draft choice choice grew up in Centerville, Ohio, less than an hour from Cincinnati, where the Packers will play the Bengals in Our third preseason game .

Many many of HAWK's Family and Friends will be at the game., AJ Hawk didn't have to work hard to get tickets.

Jeeee...

"A lot of them are Bengals fans," Hawk said, "so they already had tickets."

A full 'Running Back' backfield

Coach McCarthy has plenty of choices at RB Vs. the Bengals.

Ahman Green will start,

His first game action since he tore a quadriceps tendon at Minnesota on Oct. 23/05. Also expected to be available are Najeh Davenport and Arliss Beach, both of whom have been banged up and limited in practice this week.

Davenport (hip) made it through practice for a second straight day. Beach (shoulder) practiced all week with a red jersey, meaning he could not have contact. Samkon Gado and Noah Herron also are expected to play. Green is expected to play 18 to 20 snaps...

but the No. 1 offense will play more than that.

Coach McCarthy didn't say which running back would follow Green. Noah Herron could get a few snaps at fullback because starter William Henderson is out with a knee injury.

Is CB Michael Hawkins in "the Bengals game"... or not?

Cornerback Mike Hawkins, who returned to practice on Monday after missing almost three weeks with a sore knee. He practiced on Saturday and lasted to it's completion. He's expected to be available for tonight's game.

Also. CB Patrick Dendy returned Monday after missing three weeks with an ankle sprain.

Mike McCarthy said his status was less certain than that of Hawkins.

Game-time decisions are expected for defensive lineman Kenny Peterson (ankle), offensive lineman Mookie Moore (shoulder), fullback Ben Brown (tailbone) and Dendy.

Extra Information Packer fans and Rastak:

Coach McCarthy plans to use CB Charles Woodson on a couple of opportunities to return punts tonight. Woodson has been bothered by a sore left thumb but will play with it wrapped.

Good News!

M3 said... also plans to have most of his special teams assignments set following the Packers @ Bengals test.

Dendy, Peterson, Davenport, and Brown are all in danger of being cut and must show up.
While a similar fate might await Hawkins, his future may be determined by what the Packers do with Blackmon.

I think only about 40 players are assured of being with the team and 45 or so are in either the likely to be cut and could be cut categories.

A good performance tonight might land them on another team even if the Packers cut them. A fumble or sack given up could put them out of football forever.

The second half and 4th quarter will be more important than Korn hoser pontifications.
