The old and the modern architecture of Montreal and night lighting is outstanding and you'll need a camera. This is an urban photographers paradise.

The Champlain Bridge, Montreal ( Montreal Island and routes West) has reduced traffic as it's always under repair now. I recommend avoiding it.

Montreal isn't just about great food and an interesting history and culture. Montreal ROCKS when it comes to comedy.

It's the Major City of Festivals and Special Attractions. Almost every week it's a new festival and it all combines to certainly make this great city one of the very finest to visit in North America.

Every summer one or more weeks is devoted to a comedy festival. The comedy festival in Montreal is adored by residents and tourists. It attracts almost two million spectators every year and fun is guaranteed to tickle your funny bone even if your the most serious person you'll lighten up and roar with laughter.

Some of the material (ie pranks) will make you nearly choke you'll laugh so hard. What's better than good comedy and a real belly laugh !?

The Comedy Festival just like the Jazz Festival and Fireworks Festival features FREE Outdoor Events in 2014.

A slew of outdoor events: live comedy, circus arts (with clowns and acrobats, sideshow antics, peeps on stilts, street dancing and more). Any Saturday spent in uptown Montreal (Just find the Super Sex Dance Bar) and your right in the middle of it. As long as you don't go indoors ;-). You'll experience many street acts all free except for what you may deeman adequate donation. It's a blast of FREE entertainment and the best looking ladies on the planet as Montreal is very cosmopolitan.

There's a place where you can drink beer on the terrace for $2.75 a bottle...or cost plus a loonie. This bar is called:Les Foufounes Électriques...

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/d/d2/Foufounes_electriques_01.jpg/460px-Foufounes_electriques_01.jpg

Genre(s)

Punk rock, Alternative rock, Metalcore
Hardcore punk, Underground music. Grunge and Hip Hop . it opened 1983.

Website
http://www.foufounes.qc.ca

Les Foufounes Électriques is a concert venue located at 87 Saint Catherine Street East in the city of Montreal, Quebec, Canada in a neighbourhood known as the Quartier Latin (Latin Quarter). A multi-level establishment with 3 dance floors. The club first opened its doors in 1983 and became a centre for underground music, art and culture in Montreal.

Known as "Foufs" by the locals, the club is the oldest alternative rock venue in the city.

Read:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Les_Foufounes_%C3%89lectriques

It's located on the North side of St. Catherines Street East and just east of Urbain and St. Lambert streets or what's known as 'the Main' downtown , Montreal Quebec in the Italian Quarter. Punk rock, Alternative rock, Metalcore, Hardcore punk, Underground music, Grunge, and Hip hop and again really inexpenpensive beerand an interesting people watching place.

Usually each weekend of the festival at Place des Festivals on St. Catherines street or the best main street of any city in Canada. Organizers go all out by extending the free outdoor festivities from the usual couple of weekends. In 2013, outdoor street events ran the duration of the entire festival. Expect the same for the 2014 edition.

Looks gay.

How do you know that HowardRoark?

Montreal does have a sizable gay population and bar and entertainment scene but the city is hardly deemd overall gay. ie the woman in Montreal are spectacular in looks and style. It's a major fashion scene any Saturday in uptown Montreal and delightful all Spring and Summer long into the Fall. Montreal literally ROCKS ! It's a fabulous city. it's people very nice for a large city.

The Montreal Canadians and the former Expos and the former Formula One Race weekend etc. isn't what I'd deem gay. Gay people do love Montreal and visit this fabulous city en masse and are entertained somehow in the Gay Villiage. A colorful spot for sure..

Looks gay.

I'm not sure what GAY looks like in terms of a city's architecture and infrastructure. I can confidently inform you that a recent study determined that Canada may be about half as GAY as the USA.

That 2009 survey found 2% of Canadians aged 18-59 said they are gay, lesbian, or bisexual and that compares to the latest number out of the United States, where a University of California Los Angeles think-tank last year found 4% of Americans are lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender.

Here you go:

http://news.nationalpost.com/2012/07/06/the-true-north-lgbt-new-poll-reveals-landscape-of-gay-canada/

Again degree of GAYness or not. An informed person will often respond in terms related to NOT being ignorant, thusly:

Does it really matter anymore. That's the clear "not right or left minded" response that reflects a person acceptance of reality, IMO.

Gay Montreal

" As one of the few nations on the planet to recognize same-sex marriages, Canada is as logical a destination as any for the LGBT tourist; and with one of the largest gay neighborhoods in the world, Montreal is the icing on the cake. The Village--or "le Village"--is the epicenter of Montreal's gay scene.... "

Now if you visited with me and we took on Montreal for an evening here is where we might logically end up being regular guys.

Whenever us Maritime lads arrived in Montreal to see the Expos, Alouettes or les Canadian and maybe to see a Formula One Auto race or a Canada Cup (Hockey)

http://static.panoramio.com/photos/large/13921849.jpg

This club is a lot of fun but watch out ... as the ladies want your $money$ and their very charming and incredibly friendly and attractive. This is a virtual reality harem.

Now if you enjoyed that place we might get into the serious scene. There are lots of strip tease clubs in greater Montreal...their everywhere but these five rate the highest. How fat is yourwallet Vs your control because the women here have skills.:

"Sex is the trademark of Montreal tourism."

Montreal is described as a good choice for any type of "adult experience" by U.S. travel agencies.

"In Montreal, you can order a girl like a pizza. You want her tall, blonde, thin, with breasts size B or D, and half an hour later, the girl is delivered to you. It's as easy as that!" Pascale Philibert

What else doe Pascale Philbert say regarding the decriminalization of Prostitution in Canada and making it against the law to to buy sex along the lines of legislation in Sweden.

In 1999, Sweden passed legislation that criminalized the buying of sex, and decriminalized the selling of sex.

So, Woody, what's the deal with the Bloc Quebecois and this election?? Been hearing it's a new move by the separatists. Also saw that billionaire Canadian media mogul Pierre Karl Peladeau (Quebecor, Sun Media, etc.) is running with the BQ. A guy who is no fan of unions running in the left-leaning Bloq? Sounds like he's hell-bent on Quebec separating from Canada.

What are the chances this happens??

So, Woody, what's the deal with the Bloc Quebecois and this election?? Been hearing it's a new move by the separatists. Also saw that billionaire Canadian media mogul Pierre Karl Peladeau (Quebecor, Sun Media, etc.) is running with the BQ. A guy who is no fan of unions running in the left-leaning Bloq? Sounds like he's hell-bent on Quebec separating from Canada.

What are the chances this happens??

The ongoing Separatism movement in Quebec is a so what issue with me and many Canadiens may be thinking now "just do it or shut up".

Pauline Marois is sneaky and in my view obsessed with her dream to finally see Quebec separate from the Dominion of Canada. Can she get that done?

As long as Montreal stays against separation I can't see it becoming a reality digitaldean. If it does go through after another expensive and anxious referendum:

So what !!

The Canadien Government could care less IMO. I don't believe the Federal Government of decades ago ie 1930's to 1960's even wanted Quebec due to the costs and difficulty that province caused in terms of willing and co-operative participation. Many Canadiens are right here:

Quebec could go fly a kite as long as they pay their debt back to the rest of Canada. As long as they as a minimum impact; are reasonable and don't take it all. Provide a corridor from the Maritime Provinces and Newfoundland to upper Canada >>> Ontraio; Manitoba; The Prarie Provinces; B.C.; The Yukon and Northwest Territories.

I'm willing to bet it's like this and many Canadiens:

If your dissatisfied with Canada then get the "H" out. We don't need that idiotic attitude to help keep Canada strong. The thing is it's too much to do about nothing digitaldean.

It's like much of politics...and anyone all wrapped up in that....BULLSHIT !

Here's how I imagine (Hope) most Maritimer's and Newfoundlanders see it:

We don't want them to even stress the country out with their foolhardiness. We want the general population of Quebec to see just how great Canada is. The reality is this and all the Bill 101 "uni-language French" backlash. Every week long existing Quebec familys are moving out of Quebec; or planning to do so. Because of the Separtists stinking obsessions and focus on language as French "only".

I've seen some ridiculous stances and that Bill 101 related obsession. ie I'm a Irish Canadien digitaldean. Just 4-5 years ago "the Bill 101 hardcores" tried to get the Montreal Irish Pubs to change all signage to the French language.

A shamrock would be >>> en francais >>> "un trèfle"

A leprechaun (Irish: leipreachán) would be >>> un lutin

A meat pie would be >>> une tourte à la viande

A green beer would be >>> une bière verte

an Irish Pup would be >>> un pub irlandais

All that makes an Irishman very angry and well ....want to start swinging at any Frenchman who pushes language on him. I've been taken there on occasions and it always ends with me ready to fight. Actually even taking a tattooed French Seoeratist biased prick down to the floor when he pushed me too far. I've had a separatist stop and mock me wearing a team Canada hockey T-Shirt once until I asked him to step out of his car and face me.

Their fricken' cowards...like most big mouthed, shot disturbing pricks.

Get a load of this:

It took about two - three weeks (as the separatists moved on a very popular Irish Pub in the English quarter - to change all signage and menu material to French) to get a large protest petition signed by 1000's of protestors and squash this bullshit.

English speaking and bi-lingual businissman / women are sick of it. The Bloc is causing much

If they did ever get their way. I hope it comes to this reality. That the Quebecois insistant on leaving Canada; are decent boat builders and sailors to get that population of numbskulls back to Mother France.

I don't see that entire population moving to:

15 things to do in Montreal I know.

"15 is not a lot, considering how awesome Montreal is."
