I definitely prefer HaHa to Pryor. As for Amaro v. Adams, well that's more of a push in my estimation.

Amaro or Troy would have been the pick if they were still available.

woodbuck27

Yup. Tennessee picked Sankey from Wash. Cincy got Hill from LSU, and SF got Hyde from Ohio St.

Great for RB's....Thanks.... my puter is acting bad right now.

Got it and:

Three RB's picked in Round 2 between Picks 54 and 57.:

A virtual panic run on RB's.

He a perfect fit for our scheme which is why I liked him over several other WRs mentioned on this board. I think I'm the only one who has even mentioned Davante Adams....LOVE THE PICK! Typical TT WR, always goes after WRs with good hands who catch the ball away from their body. He reminds me of James Jones of course but also Crabtree.

Nice call Brandon. You and Shadow are having a great weekend.

Great pick by Jags IMO; leader in receptions and yds for two straight yrs in Big Ten. I was hoping he'd go to a team with a proven QB though. Jags going young on offense with a rookie QB and first two picks as rookie WR's.

I had Adams a little further down than the other 2nd round receivers b/c of his pedestrian speed, he's a one-speed runner, and doesn't create seperation.

Kind of a hard guy to evaluate b/c he ran so many bubble screens and comebacks... he production was super inflated b/c of all that short crap.

Had Moncrief, Latimer, and Robinson all ahead of him.

Still, he's probably worth a 2nd round pick... not thrilled with him, but I'd rather have him than Amaro, or one of the defensive duds that everyone else was reaching for around us.

Nix, Louis NT 6'2" 331 Notre Dame 5.9

Verrett, Jason CB 5'9" 189 TCU Pick 25, Round 1 (25) Chargers 5.9

Moncrief, Donte WR 6'2" 221 Mississippi 5.9

Su'a-Filo, Xavier OG 6'4" 307 UCLA Pick 1, Round 2 (33) Texans 5.9

Mason, Tre RB 5'8" 207 Auburn 5.8

Garoppolo, Jimmy QB 6'2" 226 Eastern Illinois 5.8 (** Hold That !!!)

McCarron, AJ QB 6'3" 220 Alabama 5.7

Jackson, Gabe OG 6'3" 336 Mississippi St. 5.7

Are the fellas now freaking out !

** The New England Patriots go with:

Jimmy Garoppolo - QB - 6'2" 226 - Eastern Illinois and a Grade of 5.8 ..

Comment woodbuck27:

and Tom Brady feels like Brett Favre did when TT selected Aaron Rodgers?

No ! I don't believe so.

QB's like Favre and Brady don't panic. They know what they bring to the teams they play for.

Jimmy Garoppolo may not ever get to be the Pat's #1 QB. He'll learn a ton.

That's just it... if the CB was locked up in man, and wasn't playing off - I didn't see Adams create any seperation. He still made a ton of catches with tight coverage on him, but that's a double edged sword. He catches well with tight coverage on him, but he always has tight coverage on him...

Like I said... watch some tape on him - just a shit-ton of bubble screens, and short comebacks. Makes it very difficult to see if he can run routes... add to that, he seemed only to have 1 gear - Good hands, good size, good production...

We'll see.

Pass rush and Safety....The stronger TE's are gone but C.J. Fiedorowicz, - Iowa and a grade of 5.4 was there.

*Meeting with Packers, it was amazing being around that type of vibe. Some of meetings I was in with other teams, coaches weren't as excited. I could tell I could get along with Packers coaches.

*I'm ready for cold weather. Coldest game I ever played in was 10 degrees against Nevada in Reno, or Colorado State we had a snow game. Both games I had great games.

One of the best GM's in the NFL just made a very solid pick. Great instincts as a player and a pass rusher. SF is getting a leader on and off the field. No secret to those around he spent about twice as many hours in the community volunteering his time for good things than any other player. SF knows how to find LB's and I'd take their scouting dept. San Fran just keeps taking smash mouth football players and making the right moves. Jimmy Ward...Carlos Hyde, Chris Borland, and a Marquis Martin. And the rich just keep getting richer.

If their GM and Harbaugh are fighting, I'll take him after TT retires

You are such a homer :)

I think Borland will fizzle out. He is as instinctive as AJ, do we agree? Except he is 3 inches shorter, way shorter arms, significantly slower, etc. AJ is a marginal starter!

I'd take Baalke though. He is a hell of a GM it seems.

BOTTOM LINE Has the size, brute strength and enough agility to warrant interest as a developmental, rotational five-technique in an aggressize, zone-blitzing scheme such as the Jets, Ravens or Steelers. Versatility is a plus.

Khyri Thornton
School: Southern Mississippi
Position: DT

Positive: Three-year starter who finished with 39 tackles, and 6.5 tackles for loss as a senior after 36 and 9.5 the prior year. Explosive interior lineman who projects as a 3-technique tackle. Fires off the snap with a terrific first step, plays with good pad level, and easily changes direction. Moves well laterally, chases down the line of scrimmage, and gets outside the box to make plays. Aggressive, fights with his hands from the snap of the ball, and works hard.

Negative: At times easily blocked from the action by a single opponent. Lacks bulk on the inside. Average production in college and a marginal pass rusher.

Analysis: Thornton was a consistent performer at Southern Mississippi and possesses the physical skill and football ability to backup in a four-man line at the next level.

Team captain and 3 year starter, so that's a plus. Like I said, feels like a bit of a reach in R3. Seems like you'd go with less of a developmental guy, but whatever. He's a Packer now, and TT knows more about football than I do. My guess is he's insurance/competition for Boyd and maybe Worthy. So Raji is shorter, heavier, slower in the 40 and 20, and 3 Cone.
Thornton is taller, lighter, slower at 10 and the Shuttle, broad jumped farther but less vertical, benched 28 to Raji's 33.

My guess is Thornton puts on 15 pounds of muscle by 2015-16 season and plays DT. Don't see him as a 5-tech but I'm sure they'll try him everywhere in Dom's scheme to find a fit.

Pick NO 96 Minnesota Vikings Fr. Seattle Seahawks:

Vikings (From Seahawks) Pick Jerick McKinnon, a small RB and he also plays Option QB ( 5'9" 209) Fr. Georgia Southern 5.4

Comment woodbuck27:

The very BEST All Round athlete tested at the Combine... a solid pick for the Vikings. He'll be a solid third down option.

The Green Bay Packers (Compensatory selection) GO TE Richard Rodgers - TE (6'4" 257) Fr. California and a 5.2 Grade

Just because you haven't heard of these guys don't mean they can't become players. Do some research before you judge, I'm liking both picks now.

First two picks look good. Haha it's clinton's dick will play. He's good. The WR will prolly take a year of training. WAC to NFL is a jump. New routes, new techniques..... But he looks like a player.

After that, it goes to a bunch of wait and see. And it only gets worse from here. Coin flips if we're lucky.

Ted might as well have thrown a dart at the wall...

I can see where Rodgers might have some upside, but the Thornton pick was nothing short of a complete waste. Even if he's a decent player, he'll never contribute much, b/c we simply don't play those guys much.

Richard Rodgers
School: California
Position: TE

Positive: Started 11 games in three years. Totals last season included a career-best 39 receptions, 608 yards, and 1 TD when he lined up at receiver. Large, athletic tight end prospect with an undeveloped game. Possesses a quick burst, extends to make catches away from his frame, and displays strong hands. Looks the ball in, takes a pounding but holds onto the throw. Solid route runner, uses his frame to shield away defenders and outmuscles opponents for the ball.

Negative: Worked out poorly at the combine. Does not find the sticks on third down. Displays poor timing and anticipation catching the ball. Rarely asked to block.
Analysis: Despite his poor combine showing, Rogers shows athleticism and is a solid long-term prospect who could be a better pro player than college player.

Brandon494

Richard Rodgers TE

STRENGTHS: Lanky athlete who has proven the ability to manipulate his weight to fit his team's offensive scheme. Very good initial quickness for the position, demonstrating the ability to beat defenders upfield with his burst or to gain the advantage while blocking, including on cut-blocks.
Long arms and soft hands. Gathers in passes quickly and secures the football. Good agility and straight-line speed for the position. Good bloodlines. Father is Richard Rodgers, Sr., who is credited for making the call and one of five laterals on "The Play," the famous Cal kick return in 1982 to beat Stanford (and its band). Father now serves as the special teams coordinator for the Carolina Panthers.

WEAKNESSES: Lacks the bulk and strength to hold up as an in-line blocker in the NFL. A bit finesse in his play, relying more on his athleticism than physicality. Gets to the second level quickly but rather than latching on to control opponents, Richard extends his arms and stops his feet, allowing defenders to break free easily from his blocks.

Possesses the ability to make the incredible catch but will drop the occasional easy pass and struggles in traffic. Only asked to run relatively simple quick out and drag routes in Dykes' offense. Only started 11 of 37 games over his collegiate career.

COMPARES TO: Garrett Graham, Houston Texans - Like Graham, Rodgers' value to NFL lies in his sneaky athleticism and soft hands in a Joker or H-back role.
