49ers have traded a conditional 2015 draft pick to Buffalo for Stevie Johnson. I guess we know why the Bills wanted Sammy Watkins so bad. Couldn't wait to get rid of Johnson.

there's quite a few stud wr's left on the board. be interesting after the run on wr's yesterday just how many teams will be jumping on then tonight. we could end up with a hell of a WR at our spot in the second

PURGING MY WISHLIST INTO HERE

DT Timmy Jernigan ...another slug who plays at times harder than others
DT Stephen Tuitt......paired with Nix at Notre Dame...don't love either but he'd be ok round two
DE Kony Ealy...........up and down guy.....I'm ok with him
DT Louis Nix DT............slug that I'm ok with round two..off yr last year could cause him to keep dropping
DT Ra'Shede Hageman .....may be boom or bust but I'd take him round two

OT Joel Bitonio FUNNY STUFF FROM CBS SITE
COMPARES TO: Marshall Newhouse, Green Bay Packers - Like the 6-4, 319-pound Newhouse, Bitonio's size looks better on paper than it does on tape, where his less-than-ideal arm length and thick middle seem to project best to guard. Also like Newhouse, however, Bitonio is surprisingly athletic and a savvy, competitive football player, who'll carve out a niche somewhere

OG Xavier Su'a-Filo--Probably not there

TE Jace Amaro....odds are he's long gone but if he's there tough to pass up
TE Austin Seferian Jenkins ...moster size....not convinced on him so hope he's picked by us

QB Derek Carr.....will be long gone for sure

WR Marqise Lee......will be long gone
WR Allen Robinson.....like him just a tad more than Moncrief but elated with either at round 2
WR Donte Moncrief.....would be elated with him at round two

LB Kyle Van Noy...love him at round two as well....playmaking LB...smash mouth
LB Trent Murphy...impact players...SACKATRON......he'd be a great addition

C Weston Richard...a wonderful fit with out offense and what we look for. Stability at C for years to come

Can't believe how many good players are left. Jordan Matthews would be sweet, or one of the TEs. Van Noy. Very exciting night!

Totally on board with the HCD pick, even though I preferred Pryor. Told wife after the big three went off the board that the only pick that makes sense is HCD, so it won't happen. Was super nervous and glad we got him.

#Packers are seeking out additional info today on Trent Murphy, Chris Borland, Keith McGill and Jordan Matthews.

Also a lot of feedback that Stevie Johnson has slid big time. Doubting a Boldin like veteran resurgence.

NO THANKS!!! McGill will be a 25 year old rookie, Murhpy is slow and only has decent strength (not a good combination), and Borland has T-Rex arms. I'd be happy with Matthews if he fell to us though, Rodgers should just ask his brother about him if they need additional info.

OGXAVIER SU'A-FILO

http://www.nfl.com/draft/2014/profiles/xavier-sua-filo?id=2543666

STRENGTHS Quick out of his stance. Effective pass blocker -- can bend his knees, extend and mirror in short area. Generates movement in the run game. Can work his hips and maneuver to gain positioning. Good foot athlete. Can pull, trap, combo block and step to the second level. Durable three-year starter. Has played guard and tackle.

WEAKNESSES Lacks ideal length. Missed two years of strength training while serving a LDS mission and has a bad body. Could stand to play with better pop and power in his hands. Bends at the waist, gets overextended and falls off blocks. Heavy-legged -- slow to shift his weight and adjust to stunts and quick inside moves. Gets beat across his face. Needs to play with better awareness -- gets short-circuited by complicated defensive movement. Struggled mightily at left tackle.
DRAFT PROJECTION Rounds 1-2

BOTTOM LINE Does not look the part and was miscast when forced to play left tackle for the Bruins, but Su'a-Filo is more effective than he is pretty. Projects best at left guard, where he has starter-caliber ability in a power scheme, though he is athletic enough to appeal to zone teams, too.

Round 2 is here! TT's best round!!

So I think that holding on Pick NO. 53 and going BPA... TT gets one of these prospects:

Robinson, Allen WR 6'2" 220 Penn St. 5.6

Williams, Andre RB 5'11" 230 Boston College 5.6

Martin, Kareem DE 6'6" 272 North Carolina 5.6

Martin, Marcus C 6'3" 320 USC 5.6

Landry, Jarvis WR 5'11" 205 LSU 5.6

Murphy, Trent OLB 6'5" 250 Stanford 5.6

Richardson, Antonio OT 6'6" 336 Tennessee 5.6

Niklas, Troy TE 6'6" 270 Notre Dame

Damn Cleveland needs badly at WR. . . .with the Josh Gordon news.

No surprize with the Raiders pick;

Raiders go with the next best QB as expected:

Derek Carr QB - Fresno St. GRADE = 6.1

Reggie McKenzie may be the STAR GM of any NFL team this season to date.

Falcons take Hageman.

STRENGTHS Long and well-proportioned. Intriguing height-weight-speed ratio and natural athleticism. Flashes the ability explode off the ball, jolt blockers and disrupt the backfield. Terrific movement, flexibility and range. Loose ankles. Can work the edges. Able to redirect and chase athletically. Fierce tackler. Workout all-star with rare leaping ability for his size (35 1/2-inch vertical) -- bench-pressed 225 pounds 32 times at the combine. Disrupts passing lanes. Has a "wow" factor at his best. Has immense upside.

WEAKNESSES Wide gap between physical ability and performance on tape. Green eyes, instincts and understanding of blocking schemes. Motor idles. Too often lets his pads rise and exposes his frame. Does not play to his length. On skates vs. double teams. Hand use needs work. Unsophisticated counters and pass-rush moves. Aimless pass rusher in need of a plan. Minimal, inflated sack production. Still learning to convert speed to power. Does not dominate single blocking. Needs more glass in his diet. Could require simple assignments. Motivation and coachability should be examined more closely. Will be 24-year-old rookie. Has a glaring bust factor.
DRAFT PROJECTION Top 50

BOTTOM LINE A raw, converted tight end with a basketball background, Hageman is a big, athletic, finesse three-technique with intriguing dimensions and movement skills who fits best in an aggressive, one-gap scheme where he could fire into gaps. Will probably be restricted to nickel pass-rush duty initially until the game slows down for him, but has impact potential if he ever figures it out. Is still maturing, having endured a harrowing childhood to get to where he is today, and would be best served landing in a structured environment with veteran mentorship. Classic boom-or-bust prospect.

Paul Richardson
School: Colorado
Position: WR
Positive: All-conference receiver in 2013 after posting 83 receptions, 1343 yards, and 10 TDs. Missed the 2012 campaign with a knee injury. Sophomore totals included 39 receptions, 555 yards, and 5 TDs. Explosive receiver effective down the field or in underneath coverage. Smart player. Displays a sense of timing and fundamentally sound. Quickly releases off the line of scrimmage, has a burst of speed which he turns on in a single step, and stretches the field vertically. Effectively tracks the pass in the air, makes catches in contorted positions, and plays with balance. Uses the sidelines well, possesses good eye-hand coordination, and consistently makes catches away from his frame. Gets up in a crowd and fights to come away with the ball. Runs crisp routes, separates from defenders, and comes back into the clearing to make himself an available target. Plays with quickness and can run to the deep throw. A big-play receiver with a consistent game.

Negative: Must turn up the intensity when blocking. Has a thin build and will struggle handling jams at the next level. Loses out in battles.

Analysis: When healthy, Richardson was a consistent receiver and a force to be dealt with. He comes with a solid game, has a high upside and could develop into a number two wideout at the next level. In the end Richardson may turn into one of the steals in May's draft.

Joemailman

Steelers take:

Stephon Tuitt
School: Notre Dame
Position: DT
Positive: Full-time starter the past two seasons who posted a career-best 50 tackles last season after 13 tackles for loss and 12 sacks as a sophomore 2012. Tall, relatively athletic defensive line prospect who flashed ability. Effective when he plays with good pad level. Displays terrific quickness and the ability to bend off the edge on occasion. Gets his hands up to protect himself. Displays power in his lower body and the ability to push blockers up the field. Better than average movement skills. Easily changes direction and slides down the line of scrimmage to make plays.

Negative: All too often gets tall and does not consistently play with leverage. Easily knocked from his angle of attack by a single blocker or controlled at the point by tight ends. Slow locating the ball.

Analysis: Tuitt is a serviceable prospect whose reputation exceeds his ability. He's an up and down prospect who'll look dominant then pedestrian in the same series. He offers the size and athleticism necessary to develop into a productive NFL prospect but also comes with big bust potential.

Trent Murphy
School: Stanford
Position: DE
Positive: Three-year starter named to numerous all-America teams since his junior campaign. Totals last season included 62 tackles, 23.5 tackles for loss, and 15 sacks. Also recorded one interception and 6 PBUs. Junior totals included 18 tackles for loss and 10 sacks. Hard-charging college linebacker expected to transition to defensive end at the next level. Plays with good lean. Fires off the snap and fast off the edge rushing the passer. Resilient, stays with the action, and is rarely knocked off his feet. Works his hands throughout the play. Constantly focused on by opponents, but a disruptive force who's tough to stop. Flashes lower-body power and needs to be double-teamed. Quick in a straight-line or chasing the action laterally. Flashes ability in space and nicely redirects to the action.

Negative: Lacks size and outpositioned by opponents. Average speed and minimally effective in pursuit.

Analysis: Murphy is a competitive, relentless defender with terrific instincts and toughness. He finds ways to make plays and will be an asset at the next level as a 4-3 defensive end who occasionally stands up over tackle.

Jace Amaro to the Jets

Joemailman
05-09-2014, 07:29 PM
Jets take:

Jace Amaro
School: Texas Tech
Position: TE
Positive: Full-time starter the past two seasons, posting career numbers of 106 receptions, 1352 yards, and 7 TDs last season. Missed six games during the 2012 season after suffering internal bleeding from a hit taken during the West Virginia contest. Finished the year with 25 receptions, 409 yards, and 4 TDs. Large, athletic tight end developing a complete game. Natural receiver who consistently makes catches away from his frame and displays both soft and strong hands. Finds the open spot in the middle of the field, makes the reception in stride and takes punishing hits but holds onto the ball. Displays speed moving in every direction, easily adjusts to errant throws, and contorts in a crowd to make the difficult reception. Displays focus, intelligence, and plays tough football. Uses his hands to separate from opponents, shows excellent awareness, and consistently finds a way to come free. Plays with balance, looks the pass into his hands, and keeps the play in bounds trying to pick up positive yardage. Gives effort as a blocker, playing with leverage, and controlling opponents at the point of attack. Seals open the running lanes at the line of scrimmage or downfield.

Negative: Takes a while to get going. Poor route-runner and slows into breaks. At times takes an unnecessary pounding when he should go down.

Analysis: Amaro is a terrific tight end prospect who showed development in every area of his game last season. He offers starting potential with the possibilities to be a Pro Bowl player at the next level if he's able to stay healthy and improve his route running.

Joemailman
05-09-2014, 07:35 PM
Ego Ferguson
School: LSU
Position: DT
Positive: Posted a career-best 58 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, and 1 sack last season after breaking into the starting lineup on a full-time basis. Strong, forceful interior lineman with an undeveloped game. For the most part plays with good pad, explosive at the point, and powerful in his lower body. Bull rushes opponents off the line of scrimmage or defeats double-team blocks to collapse the pocket. Focused on by opponents but holds his ground. Displays violent hand punch and the ability to disengage from blocks.

Negative: Lacks great first-step quickness off the snap. Must improve his hand use. Displays limited speed. Looks sluggish on occasion.

Analysis: Ferguson is a developing tackle with the size and body type to play at the next level but was premature in his decision to enter the draft. He's unpolished and one-dimensional and as such will be selected later than expected.

Davante Adams
School: Fresno State
Position: WR
Positive: Two-year starter named to a several all-America teams last season after finishing the year with 131 receptions, 1718 yards, and 24 TDs. Started 13 games as a redshirt freshman and finished with 102 receptions, 1312 yards, and 14 TDs. Game-controlling receiver with potential as a number one wide out in the NFL. Quick, agile, and strong. Displays a sense of timing, gets up in a crowd, and competes to come away with the ball. Adjusts to errant throws, displays good hand/eye coordination, and uses his frame to shield defenders. Easily makes catches in stride, consistently catches the ball with his hands, and takes a pounding but holds onto the throw. Displays a sense of timing, comes back to the ball to make himself an available target, and uses his hands to separate from opponents. Does not go down without a fight, strong running after the catch and has the ability to pick up yardage.

Negative: At times, haphazard in his movement. Loses focus, thinks about running before he's actually caught the ball, and occasionally drops some catchable throws. Lacks the second gear and is more of a one-speed wideout.

Analysis: Adams has been ultra productive the past two seasons and was consistent while developing his game. He's a possession wideout for the next level with the ability to play in a variety of next level schemes.

James Jones II

Compares To: James Jones, Packers - Like the former San Jose State standout, Adams' eye-popping numbers have come against questionable competition. However, his similar build, deceptive vertical speed and strong hands at the catch-point should help Adams emerge as a big-play candidate in the NFL

i guess its not bad replacing JJ with a JJ clone

Should I be happy about this guy? He seems like a decent WR with good hands, not great speed. I don't know what to think.

I read one comparison of Adams to James Jones a while back by one of the draftniks, so this isn't a big surprise. I'd have thought maybe they'd take a long look at Robinson because he's a bigger guy and probably better after the catch, but I think this is a decent pick. TT has a good track record with WRs so I'm hoping this continues.

Way to go TT:

Davante Adams - Fresno State - A James Jones replacement and a prolific TD machine.

A solid Pick again for TT. A perfect pick for the Green bay Packers and get this 24 TD's last year.

Awesooooome !

I think with Rodgers, most WR's can flourish. I get the comparisons to Jones, but don't we have this already in Boykin?

I like this pick. I don't know that he's any better than several other guys who were available, but he's a good fit.

He a perfect fit for our scheme which is why I liked him over several other WRs mentioned on this board. I think I'm the only one who has even mentioned Davante Adams....LOVE THE PICK! Typical TT WR, always goes after WRs with good hands who catch the ball away from their body. He reminds me of James Jones of course but also Crabtree.

I liked what Robinson does ever he catches the ball but hes too much of a body catcher which is why I thought TT could pass on him for that reason.

TT doesn't disappoint at WR in Rd. 2.

He's like Mother's Day and comes around every year and picking at that position.

ARod has to be pleased..but now it's back to "D" and BIG or OG...TE.

Similar to Jones in body type and athletic ability. Similar in how he comes back to the ball. Different because this guy "tracks ball well over both shoulders" vs not being able to track the ball over either shoulder or going away in any fashion :) I like the pick. Tt has had some luck on 2nd round wrs. I have a feeling this is going to work out.

I am kind of pissed the the Jets; they are barely ahead of us and drafted both guys that would have been perfect fits in GB. I may stand alone in wanting the TE the Jets nabbed but I think there will be a good WR in round 3 also.

looks like a poor mans Larry Fitzgerald. Elite ball skills. Catches the ball no matter where its thrown. Big, physical, excellent leaping ability. Agile, sudden, not fast but not slow either.

Good size too and not fast fast ...yet... decent straight line speed.

http://www.nfl.com/draft/2014/profiles/davante-adams?id=2543495

Graded at 5.78....4.56 40 and 14 Reps....a 39.5 inch Verticle.... a 10 '- 3 " broad jump.

All very decent measurable.

Draft Analysis:

"This pick makes a lot of sense. The Packers lost James Jones in free agency to Oakland. They have still have Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb. He's a big, physical wide receiver. He's going to have to learn how to run some different kind of routes in Green Bay. If I'm that young man, I'm going to attach myself at the hip to Aaron Rodgers." -- Mike Mayock

I don't pay attention to that but I know he's brought him up several times.

So who are we hoping for round 3 ? After the Iowa TE, who I assume will be gone, there is a huge dropoff.

My guess is we look at CB,C, a Slug, or TE if one is there ?

Oh no doubt, HarveyWallbangers is one of the best posters on this board with an eye for talent so it doesn't surprise me that he liked Adams as well.

I really have no clue who it will be but my guess would be DL or LB. I'll say making a list of prospects once we get closer to our pick.
