looks to be our ILB

Carl Bradford*, OLB/ILB, Arizona State
Height: 6-1. Weight: 243.
40 Time: 4.76.
Projected Round (2014): 2-4.
5/5/14: Bradford played really well in 2013. He has a unique skill set with toughness as a run-defender and pass-rushing ability.

Bradford was impressive against Notre Dame with a lot of disruption. He was superb against Washington State with forced fumbles and a sack. The junior was suspended against Oregon State. Bradford had 61 tackles with 19 tackles for a loss, 8.5 sacks, four passes broken up, one interception and three forced fumbles in 2013. He could be a nice weapon in a 3-4 defense who plays on the inside and outside. Bradford would fit best as a Sam (strongside) linebacker in a 4-3, but he could also be trained on the inside.

9/5/13: Bradford broke out last year with 81 tackles, 11.5 sacks, 20.5 tackles for a loss, five passes defended, three forced fumbles and one interception. The sophomore started strong and was on fire to close out the season. He had sacks in the final six games with a total of seven sacks in that stretch. With Will Sutton causing havoc on the inside, Bradford could have another big season as a junior in 2013.

Green Bay Packers: Carl Bradford, ILB, Arizona State: A+ Grade
Another steal, and it's not a surprise that the perennial winners are making them. Carl Bradford could have easily been chosen in the second round, and I'm not sure why he fell this far. Bradford can play either outside or inside linebacker in the 3-4, though he'll probably be stationed at the latter position in Green Bay, given what the team has on its roster. He fills a big need inside.

woodbuck27
05-10-2014, 12:46 PM
Round 4, Pick 21 (121) Carl Bradford OLB 6'1" 250 Arizona State 5.3

Pick Analysis:

"I don't think he's long enough to be an edge pass-rush guy in the NFL. There is lots of hustle and he has a great motor. This kid went to the NFL Scouting Combine and showed athleticism. But what's his best position? I think inside linebacker in a 3-4 defense. Green Bay just took him and that's where I see him." -- Mike Mayock

Comment woodbuck27:

Mike Mayock went on to say that this prospect is only one of three in the draft that might edge rush on a situational basis like Michael Sam; but if the Packers use him a an ILB he hopefully develops into an every down player....See his way better than average athleticism.

This is an exciting pick.

That means of the five so far three look really good to me FS; WR and this player that projects to ILB. One is very hopeful at DT; and well ....there's the TE prospect named Mr. Rodgers. This is a frown and that pick. :-|

TT is certainly covering the bases in terms of need.

Now TT goes Defensive Back... CB or SS or Guard... @ Pick NO. 161 and at the end of Round 5 >>> Pick NO. 176.

I hope he's lined up a kick return guy.

This draft has been all needs to far (maybe not the DT) and that makes me nervous.

Not me I love every pick so far, its a deep draft so why not go after need? Our first two picks were no brainers... HaHa and Adams were the best two players left at their positions imo. Our 3rd round picks no one knew about and thats because they both played on shitty teams. After reading up on both picks they make a lot of sense and the fact a TE was taken right after Rodgers who knows if he would have lasted until the 4th. Seems like we got a steal in the 4th also with Carl Bradford if he can make the switch to ILB. Again I love the fact that we have filled all our needs....we didn't go after a safety last season and look how that turned out.

Bretsky

05-10-2014, 01:19 PM
Carl Bradford sounds like Desmond Bishop II.
I don't think he'll play OLB.
They'll start him on ST and he'll be a demon there and he'll eventually push the law firm of Lattimore, Barrington and Jones for an ILB spot. (Hawk isn't going anywhere.)

Was ranked by many as a Day 2 pick, so maybe this makes up for the R3 picks which people are debating.

Not saying they have left value on board (according to their values) for need. Just saying this draft so far has tracked very closely to team needs. That is unusual outside of 2011 and perhaps Jones last year.

AT Pick NO. 161 ...TT and the Green Bay Packers go with:

Corey Linsley | C, Ohio State

Linsley is a sound technician with nice short-area quickness and good awareness, who lacks size and power on contact.

Little, if any, upside, but has starter potential at center, considering his smarts and technique.

Was not a fan on how he catches the ball but looking at his stats as a punt and kick returner this pick makes a lot of sense. Someone just get this kid in the weight room though, only 4 reps? Also have some concerns about his concussion history in todays NFL.

So far and in Review and the Green Bay Packers:

** Pick # 21 Rd. 1 ... Hasean Clinton-Dix | FS, Alabama

This is a great pick. They needed range in the secondary and they now have it. Love it.

***GRADE A ***

** Pick #53 Rd. 2 ... Davante Adams | WR, Fresno State

I like the pick of Adams for a team that lost James Jones. He will be a perfect fit for their offense.

*GRADE B*

** Pick #85 Rd. 3 ... Khyri Thornton | DT, Southern Mississippi

The Packers had to get more help on the line with age and B.J. Raji's contract situation. Thornton will fit in with his wide body.

*GRADE B*

** Pick #98 Rd. 3 "Compensatory Pick" ... Richard Rodgers | TE, California

The Packers needed to get help at tight end, so they take one who can get down the field. He's a former receiver, which is the type of tight end they like.

*GRADE B*

** Pick #121 Rd. 4 ... Carl Bradford | OLB, Arizona State

Bradford brings instincts, fundamentals and a tough demeanor to a Packers' defense that needed to bolster its group of linebackers. He lacks ideal length, but is a good athlete and offers the versatility to rush off the edge, or rotate inside and be a productive tackler with his toughness and instincts against the run.

**GRADE B+**

** Pick #161 Rd. 5 ... Corey Linsley | C, Ohio State

Linsley is a sound technician with nice short-area quickness and good awareness, who lacks size and power on contact. Little, if any, upside, but has starter potential at center, considering his smarts and technique.

GRADE C+

finally it's happened....TT has selected a prospect from the University of Wisconsin .....A Badger is aiming for a Roster spot.

** Pick # 176 Rd. 5 ... Jared Abbrederis | WR, Wisconsin.. A very solid Compensatory Pick..Great TT !

Abbrederis may be this year´s top route-runner, and plays with underrated physicality off the line of scrimmage. Great hands, and a firey competitor.

***GRADE A *** Excellent ! 'Only' 3 "A's" handed out this round...the Bills and GIANTS received an "A" as well for their picks.

Overall so far TT and the Packers have 2 X A ; 1 X B+; 3 X B and 1 X C+

A = 9.5
B+ = 8.75
B = 8.5
C+ = 7.75

Avg. = 19 + 8.75 + 25.5 + 7.75 = 8.71 = B+ Overall.

Draft Analysis:

Jared Abbrederis ( Last name is pronounced "ab-bruh-DAIR-is) is the first Wisconsin player selected by the Packers in the NFL draft since 2001, when the team took guard Bill Ferrario in the fourth round.

Did not know he had return skills, I do like that about him.

I thought he was the best center left...I'm just surprised we took a center.

That was a sound move by TT.

The "only" thing and it's obvious.

TT isn't picking BPA in this draft by far overall TT's covering the Packers needs beast he can.

Thus some picks are looking a tad weaker that they need be.

Overall TT has done a very sound job picking prospects in this draft.

That means he did a sound job giving the Green Bay Packers a decent crop of rookies. Now...they and the coaching staff have to determine the best that their potential offers the future of the Green Bay Packers.

There just now I learned that TT has selected a CB.....in Rd. 6 Pick #197.

That's what I expected and solid in terms of prudence.

More on that later.

goodson is also a returner

Player Overview
Goodson is a former basketball star at Gonzaga who played point guard for a Bulldogs team that reached the Sweet 16. His brother, Mike, is a running back for the New York Jets.

Demetri Goodson transfered to Baylor in 2011 and saw action in four games as a reserve. Torn ligaments in his ankle ended Goodson's junior season on Oct. 8, but he returned to a starting roll last season.

Goodson earned honorable mention All-Big 12 honors as a senior, leading the Bears with three interceptions and 16 pass break ups despite being limited to 11 games due to an arm injury.

He improved his 40-yard dash time from 4.52 to 4.46 and matched his 37-inch vertical jump from the Combine. Although unrefined, his natural athleticism makes him a draftable prospect.

Goodson's performance at the combine had him rising up many draft boards, and he reportedly vistited with at least half the NFL teams

(200) Chiefs Duvernay-Tardif, Laurent OT 6'5" 321 McGill (Canada) 5.4 That's too bad. I would have chosen him over the 25 year old injury prone corner who may not make the roster. If this guy develops into a starting OT and the DB washes out, then that's not very smart picking.

I think there is one more need for this draft and that's developmental depth at NT. Beau Allen (Wisconsin) anyone? http://www.nfl.com/draft/2014/profiles/beau-allen?id=2543884

I also like Deandre Coleman from Cal=http://www.nfl.com/draft/2014/profiles/deandre-coleman?id=2543701

That said, Shane Skov (Stanford), Christian Jones (FSU), Max Bullough (MSU) are ILB's still available and I don't think we should say we're good enough at that position yet.

There are still good safeties to be had for depth/competition and those are Craig Loston (LSU), Dion Bailey (USC), Kenny Ladler (Vandy), Ahmad Dixon (Baylor)

Did not know he had return skills, I do like that about him.

ok I just blew my load as this is confirmed

Dude is an excellent returner with nice hands catching the punts....Badgers just could not afford to lose him because he was their only capable WR

His career reminds me of Jim Leonard. No division 1 school offered him a scholarship.....every division 2 team wanted him. He said piss on Division 2, walked on at the UW, and was our best WR right from the start
Earned his scholarship and he's one of the best route runners in the country. I never get the lack of strength thing. I was amazed at that. He never got jammed at the line in college and now I wonder why.
Dude does cut sharp and roasted the best CB's in the country consistently. My gut says he just isn't going to get that strong; UW Madison pushes weight lifting and have a top line fascility.

On 3rd down the QB's at the UW Madison looked to him more than Tom Brady looked for Welker.

On 3rd down the QB's at the UW Madison looked to him more than Tom Brady looked for Welker.

Sure did. I think his college performance may understate his ability for a few reasons: 1. with the talent the Badgers had at RB, they threw less than a lot of teams; 2. he had the likes of Joel Stave as his QB post-Russell Wilson and 3. there was a huge dropoff after him among the Badgers' WRs, so opponents could key on him in long yardage situations.
I'm very pleased with the pick, and not just because I'm a Badger grad.

i think its flat wrong that micheal sam is not getting drafted.

he's a horrible fit for our system, and i can see us and other 3-4 teams not taking him. but in the 4-3. the dude can fucking flat out play, and has a fire to him you rarely see

how can no one take a late round flyer on a first team all american and sec defensive player of the year?

He made it about more than football. Someone will take a flyer as an UDFA, and maybe Sam will excel. Many teams don't want a media circus which is guaranteed.

It's right there I think and hope.

Still it's a little sad to see it has to be like that in this day and age.

Evidently the Packers wrote to make an inquirey into his personality and likes.

mike Maylock says he'll likely end up on "a four man front" team.

It's better anyway that he chose his destination now...as an UFA. Choose his own destiny if team a team does offer a tryout.

As I just posted that...

The RAMS just picked Michael Sams.

(249) Rams (Compensatory selection) Sam, Michael DE 6'2" 261 Missouri 5.1

Comment woodbuck27:

It's great for the NFL that he was picked.

Great and smart of the RAMS as I view it. This is no slouch player. He may be a situational player but there has top be a place for him.

DE - Michael Sam FROM Missouri SEC .... Grade 5.1 >>> to The St. Louis RAMS, Missouri

It's like playing again in the NFL @ Home for this prospect.

I wonder if the RAMS advised him to relax? That they knew they would choose him with one of these last two picks?

In a terrible loss for the Eagles in week 16 Philly 24 @ Washington 27.

** TE Zach Ertz had 15 receptions for a career best 115 yards with a long of 16 yards.

He was right there for Mark 'lame duck arm' Shanchez.

Too much else went wrong on this day for 'the Zee Boys' ....Shanchez and Ertz to celebrate.
