Looks like he got signed by the Bengals after the draft: http://www.cincyjungle.com/nfldraft/2014/5/10/5705274/bengals-sign-fb-dl-nikita-whitlock

Good luck to him. It was weird seeing a 5-11 250 undersized DT regularly shedding blocks and getting to the ball carrier. I think that's a testament to his ability to bench 225 an amazing 43 times. I would have totally looked at this guy as a special teams demon and backup linebacker. Ah well.

Most people think Cincy is the worst FO in the league, but...

They've got somebody in their lean scouting organization that is a wizard at UDFA's. The prime example of this is LB Vontaze Burfict. Burfict dropped from a projected #1 pick to a UDFA primarily bc he is an asshole. Well sometimes you need an asshole, especially on D. Packer People is fine and dandy, but some teams need a few jerks on them to make the club nastier. Maybe we need to hire a guy who can scout nasty players, too.

I have never read the details, but one of the ways Mike Brown convinced Marvin Lewis to stay was with some upgrades in the scouting department. I think they actually have a couple of full timers and dedicated phone line now.

I've got to think there are some failed medicals among this group. Some of these guys were projected to go Day2 or early Day3. Same thing happened with Jesse Williams last year (projected late R1, picked R5 by SEA) and he went straight to IR with bad knees IIRC.

Overview

Prepped in Georgia. Redshirted in 2010. Was a reserve "Jack" linebacker in 2011 and appeared in nine games, recording nine tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and zero sacks. Started 13 of 14 games at "Sam" in 2012, producing 41 tackles, 11 tackles for loss and seven sacks with a batted pass and three forced fumbles. Did not start against Mississippi State (Tide opened with the "Jack" instead of the "Sam"). Started all 13 games at SLB in 2013, totaling 33 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss and three sacks with three batted passes. Did not bench press or run shuttles or three-cone drill at the combine because of a deltoid strain and right hamstring strain.

Analysis

Strengths
Exceptional length and overall size for a rush linebacker. Good hand strength to leverage the edge. Flashes pass-rush ability -- nice bend and balance. Flattens down the line and is athletic enough to string out plays to the sideline. Is strong enough to set the edge, shed and defend the run. Good take-on strength and anchor -- bench-presses tight ends. Nimble-footed enough to carry tight ends down the field (see LSU). Already graduated.
Weaknesses
Lacks elite edge speed, burst and explosion. Does not make plays and too often disappears for stretches. Instincts are still developing -- can be lured by play-action and misdirection. Average career sack production (10 sacks). Has a quirky personality, inflated opinion of his ability and carries a sense of entitlement that could be difficult to manage and require a patient positional coach.

Bottom Line
A long-bodied, athletic rush linebacker with the base strength desired in a 4-3 left defensive end, Hubbard's greatest physical trait is his core functional strength and ability to leverage the edge and defend the run. Is still developing as a pass rusher and offers the scheme versatility and upside to interest any defense. Has starter traits, but has yet to reach the impact level he thinks he makes. Has upside if the light bulb comes on.

Looks like he had a snafu with his medical, but looks to be cleared pending a team physical, but he has medical clearance for a heart adnormality.

http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/258827791.html

He's not the fastest guy, but he was an Alabama starter and that says something. Never a bad thing to add to the quality of depth, especially after the injury situation at LB last year.

Check out LaDarius Perkins highlight reel. Dude has some jets and make you miss stuff in the open field. Level of competition was pretty good too. I was very interested how he was catching the ball out of the backfield and running patterns too. Can we keep him?

Neal could have a real chance. Sounds like he can stick his foot in the ground and go.

http://www.draftinsider.net/reports/2014/RB/Rajion-Neal

Rajion Neal
School: Tennessee
Position: RB
Positive: Posted career-best totals of 1124 yards rushing and 12 TDs last season when he became the Volunteers' full-time ballcarrier. Also added 27 receptions and 108 receiving yards. Posted 708 rushing yards as a junior, when he started six games. Underrated runner with the physical ability and skills to play at the next level. Tough, resilient, and works as hard as possible to pick up yardage. Patiently waits for blocks develop, slashes through the small openings on the interior, and falls forward when tackled. Keeps his feet moving, flashes power and picks his way on the inside, quickly getting through the running lanes. Solid receiver out of the backfield. Runs with instincts, uses all his blocks, and quickly gets back to running form off the initial hit.
Negative: Not a ballcarrier who consistently turns the corner. Possesses more of a burst of speed and cannot run to daylight. Not a back who's going to create yardage or make multiple defenders miss.
Analysis: Neal showed steady development the past two seasons and moves towards the draft as one of the more underappreciated running backs available. His size, ball-carrying skills, and pass-catching abilities are late-round worthy.

Check out LaDarius Perkins highlight reel. Dude has some jets and make you miss stuff in the open field. Level of competition was pretty good too. I was very interested how he was catching the ball out of the backfield and running patterns too. Can we keep him?

Turn down your volume if you don't like Phil Collins...

This fella looks very solid.

Hubbard passed his physical. NFL.com had him projected to rounds 3-4. Not bad for a UDFA signing.

This fella may be better as an answer at TE than prospect draft pick Pick #98...Richard Rodgers:

What's wrong with...TE prospect Colt Lyerla - Oregon Pac-12 ;

Combine Results

Grade 5.36; -40; 4.61 SEC (Top Performer) ; 15 REPS BENCH;

39.0 INCH Verticle: Top Performer and a 128.0 INCH BROAD JUMP and again " a Third Top Performance"

Colt Lyerla was once viewed as one of the top tight ends in college football during his career at Oregon, but Lyerla had a string of off-field issues that resulted in him leaving the team during the 2013 season. Lyerla was also arrested on a drug charge shortly after he left the Ducks, and those issues resulted in Lyerla going undrafted.

I like how the video has Perkins at 5'10 even though hes 5'7. :-) Neal is a bigger back but Perkins would be the better change of pace running back for us with his speed.

He plead guilty to cocaine possession in December, after he was arrested for snorting in a car.
Also there was this quote about him:

Scouts nicknamed him 'ankle bracelet.' His nickname was ankle bracelet, because he'd go dark," McShay said. "He'd be gone for days. You had to put an ankle bracelet on him to be able to locate him. I mean, the guy... it's scary.

Loads of talent, but a personality that you can only hide in the Arena league, I doubt even the CFL would touch him.

After all the shit with Hernandez and Richie last season teams aren't taking as many risks on nut jobs anymore...unless hes a 1st round talent.

Lyerla was apparently a first round talent, or close to it. But as MadScientist said, about the time you get busted snorting coke in your car is when you can be pretty sure you're off teams draft boards.

I think Adrian Hubbard ends up making the 53 man roster, having former teammates Lacy and Haha I think is going to give him that extra push because the talent is there.

Hubbard didn't have a favorite team growing up, only a favorite player (Julius Peppers). Perhaps the Peppers signing is paying off in more ways than one.

Lyerla wasn't even picked up as an undrafted free agent by anybody.

The NFL just isn't as much fun since the Bengals kind of got their act together.

Ironically, Neal easily had better measurables--albeit at a Pro Day. He didn't get a combine invite.

Neal = 5'11" 220, 4.44 40, 4.01 shuttle, 6.67 3 cone, 38" vertical, 119" broad jump, 28 bench
Perkins = 5'7" 197, 4.46 40, 4.30 shuttle, 7.08 3 cone, 35.5" vertical, 124" broad jump, 23 bench

DE Denico Autry failed his physical and was not signed.

More opportunity for one of the tryout guys (unless they want to pick up 'Ankle Bracelet').

For what it's worth, Perkins received a slightly higher signing bonus than Neal.

He's holding out hope for season tickets to be included so he and the fan can watch the game even if he is not on the roster.
