A third of NFL retirees are exhibiting brain damage.

The concussion protocol will help some, but probably it's the repetitive, moderate level trauma that is scrambling the eggs.

How many parents today want their kids playing football? Even without the brain threat, lots of people are walking funny from old football injuries. As an amateur sport, I think football is drifting towards being a gladiator sport, like MMA. There will always be some kids who want to play, but a lot of best athletes will play other sports.

I suffered mild brain damage getting through all six pages.

People thought boxing would go away because it is so brutal. But it got supplanted by a more brutal sport.

I think a lot of highschools will drop tackle football, at least as it is played today.

I started watching baseball games this summer for the first time in 30 years.

When the guys get on first base, sometimes they celebrate by reaching in their pocket and enjoying some sunflower seeds.

By far, the greatest exercise they get is the jog on and off the field. They drink soda in the bullpen - which is really a mancave with a view.

Major league baseball is the life. They get paid about three times as much as an NFL player. There is more injury risk in bowling or deer hunting. Rickie Weeks is earning something like $10M per year, and he'll be playing as a utility guy until he is in late 30's.

Edit: my Rickie Weeks "facts" were overheard on talk radio. Back off.

Depends on what that something is. If its endemic and ignored, its the same problem as head trauma in the NFL.

Especially if its taught by the coaches you hired, sold by your video highlights firm and investigated by a person whose speciality was rheumatology.

The NFL is turning into a touch football "Nancy Boy" League. Steer your kids that have talent into baseball, basketball or any other sport that will still have dignity left in 2 years....
The pussyification of the NFL continues. Every single goddam year the rules get more and more VAGINIZED.

I've said it here before: I will live to see the day where sports which have the aim to knock an opponent unconscious will be banned and considered a primitive form of entertainment from the past.
