I don't think so. I mostly like the way the defense is playing.

Poor coaching/prep.

Seems to be a theme here this season.

I think onsides is smart move there, Rodgers is eating up yardage

i like that onsides attempt by trestman. ballsy, but worth the shot when they can't stop us

May as well onside every time in this one. Might help our defense get off the field sooner.

I like the way Trestman coaches, he is anything but predictable. He is the opposite of Stubby and company.

Harlan Huckleby
09-28-2014, 01:15 PM
I don't think Lacy is any more productive than Starks or Harris as runner

He did have a nice pass catch there, though, Starks can't do that.

Guaranteed run after this break...we have to run the clock down under 30 secs here.

Nah, MM is too smart for that. He'll opt for a shot at the endzone, Rodgers will hold the ball for too long and take a sack.

smuggler
09-28-2014, 01:37 PM
Very satisfied that the Bears didnt get any points there... I'll just point out that Trestman's decision to try the onside is WHY the bears had that last possession at all.

Also, Bears kickoff from their own 20 to start the 2nd half!

I agree that the ball had to go into the end zone... but wouldn't put that on Bennett - I'd put it on Cutler.

End zone or throw it away... still, no defense allowed in this game at all anyway - whoever has the ball last, or who can fluke a turnover.

Capers, predictably, couldn't care less about defending up the middle - just horrible, horrible coaching.

Carolina_Packer

Whichever defense walks backwards the slowest will win.

It's so hard to predict what this defense is going to do week to week. If we had last week's effort/results from the defense this week, we'd be owning the Bears.

Don't give me scheme crutch. I want to see some guys winning one on one battles. I want to see someone diagnose a play correctly and get home. I want to see someone move Cutler off of his perch back there.

You can score. But it ends the O possession otherwise and they kick off.

Meant to reply to this...so the D could actually score a TD off and extra point try? That's pretty interesting.

This. With Rodgers the passing game can always click but McCarthy refuses to call run plays that play on Lacy's strengths.

Did the team's performance today remind you of 2011? Gashed by the opposing offense for a lot of yards, getting some turnovers...bend, but don't break, and the offense ultimately dictating the game. Getting the lead is a big weapon. I wish our defense could get themselves together, find a way to stop the run, get in favorable down and distance to setup a pass rush, but they HAVE TO STOP THE RUN!!! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD CAPERS...STOP THE RUN!!!

Yep. We need to stop the run and establish the run. Running Lacy all the time is not going to do it. Get Starks and Harris in there. And use the damn TEs too.

I think McCarthy wants to get Lacy going but he just can't call plays that will do it. All that stretch zone shiot just gives the D time to overwhelm our line and Lacy ain't nimble enough to make them miss in space.

Agreed, but's like the Capers and MM didn't even try. I think I saw a 3-4, one time and Cutler passed on it. The rest of the D formations I saw invited the run and that's what the bears did - with huge holes for Forte or whoever to run threw.

MM, isn't helping Lacy with those slow developing stretch plays. give those to Harris, he's quick enough to do that. Run Lacy up the f'n middle.

Very satisfied that the Bears didnt get any points there... I'll just point out that Trestman's decision to try the onside is WHY the bears had that last possession at all.!

An excellent point, though I don't know if a coach is willing to plan on giving up a quick score to get the ball back this early. But it worked beautifully for him.

pbmax

Starks problem is the that the entire idea of the no huddle is no substitutions. So he has to start the series. But he at best the second best pass blocker and easily the third best pass catcher of the backs.

So if he goes in for an entire series, he has to sub with Harris which means less no huddle.

As long as that no huddle remains the focus, it means less Starks.

We've had the Bears number for a while now...

Good game for Rodgers and the offense to try and develop a rhythm... defense is obviously junk - just complete garbage. Luckily Cutler threw it to us a couple of times... obviously the difference in the game.
