Finely tuned athletic machines and their Marlboros, Kools/Pall Malls(?) and whatever Max is smoking.

The memorabilia guys having an Alzheimers addled Fuzzy Thurston sign posters is just making me angry. Maybe its the only way to fund his treatment or living quarters, but having the guy making a buck off you name also be in charge of the money is a recipe for disaster. I hope the family is very involved.

This story is simply so sad. I care about our sports legends/stars.

This is a sad day for me.

Today Canada lost Mr. Jean Beliveau. The former Montreal Canadians Captain who won 10 Stanley Cups in 20 years. I've put up a thread in Romper Room on this loss for our Nation. The grief in Canada over this loss has been something I've not experienced seeing in my lifetime.

What an incredibly impressive legacy Mr. Jean Beliveau's death leaves behind?

I haven't been this low since Dec. 2003. First Otto Graham dies, then four days later Irv Favre.

Everybody dies, even Jesus. Some are blessed enough to live a long and lustrous life.

Depressing article. Father time sacks everyone in the end, that bastard.

As for taking advantage of Fuzzy, it doesn't sound like that will happen for much longer:

In the two weeks since that signing, Thurston has taken a turn for the worse. He's in hospice care and has been given just days to live.

I heard that he enjoys getting out. Sometimes they take him out to a bar for a beer or two as well.

I bet he really enjoyed those cigarette - with a bourbon or two. My father smoked camels until he got horrible bronchitis and quit cold turkey at 40 years of age. Now 77 and going strong.

A well written, poignant, relevant and evocative piece. was their editor sick or on vacation?

Yesterday was my birthday (I remember cos it always comes a day after Rodgers'). Seriously, I didn't celebrate it. Why the fuck do I want to celebrate the end of my youth?!? I miss my goddamn 20's, when I was a young stud. Today I am depressed as hell. :-(

Why can't we all be vampires?
Immortal beings with immoral desires
All the time in this world for love and lust
Forever young, forever robust

It's so hard to get old without a cause
I don't want to perish like a fleeing horse

Let us die young or let us live forever

Forever young, I want to be forever young

Classic flick. One of the best of all time.

Didn't know it existed 'til you mentioned it either on here or at JSO way back when I was still a young stud. :D

Yeah, the piece mentioned that. However, it was hard to tell if that was just the memo. dealers repeating something they heard once or an actual report from Fuzzy or family. I just hope he isn't being taken advantage of.

Probably was some of both. Haven't we all known some elderly people who have relatives (usually a niece or nephew) that has gotten control of the checkbook? They take care of their aunt, but they also take pretty good care of themselves. Some are worse than others.

In any case, looks like Fuzzy is heading out the door. Godspeed, Fuzzy.

I've gone through Fuzzy's Ticket Tours to go to games at Lambeau. He threw a great tailgate and I got to see and meet him once. This was about 10 yrs ago, but he was a great guy.
