Who do we re-sign? Two starting CBs, Obviously a stud slot WR, Both Back up QBs...who is in Green and Gold next year?
I'm pretty sure we can find a cheaper kick returner. Bush has to be on his way out some day. TWill....tough to give up on a corner when House would be his replacement.
Being a GM is tough work. Ted is probably in his closet right now stroking the hair of Tank...I mean APB....I mean Tyrion. Maybe that's why he hates Thompson so bad? He spurned his advances?

Not sure what the cap situation will look like but you're probably looking at $35 mil next year with this group - Cobb, Williams and Bulaga being the most expensive. About $25 mil is offset by the same list of players' current contracts. Not sure it that works given existing bumps due to Rodgers, Matthews, Peppers, etc.
Might have to see a couple guys like Hawk & Jones go away depending on their hits to the cap, not that that's a bad thing at this point.

Rodgers cap hit in 2015 only goes up 700K. Matthews goes up 1.8 mil. Jordy's goes down 1.3 mil in 2015 and the accelerates after that. Peppers cap hit goes up 8.5 mil. He's playing for a 1 mil base salary this year. That will be interesting. They could save about 3.5 mil by cutting Brad Jones. Same for Hawk. I think one of them will be gone. I think they could sign Tramon for less than his current cap hit of 9.5 mil.

Cobb is a no brainer. Barclay should be a no brainer if he's medically fine.
Bulaga is slightly risky. At one point he looked like an eventually pro bowler at right tackle but this year he's not looked as good. Doubt about him will factor into his next contract and he could prove to be a slight bargain or a slight disappointment if he never gets back on track. Maybe a short deal is in order.
House is a little riskier. He hadn't shown much until his contract year. I think he's worth bringing back.
Tramon is risky. He's getting up there in age and his best two season have been in contract years. Fool Ted once its shame on you, fool Ted twice its shame on Ted. He's a good player but with our embarrassment of riches at cornerback I think we've got to move on, save some bucks, and hope he gets a Grimes type deal to get us a comp pick.
Richardson I want back. He should cost nothing but the guy has shown some football ability and monster upside.
I don't see what has changed for Raji. Bring him back for all the same reasons he was brought back this time.
Boykin should get a contract so he can participate in the camp battle next year.
I'd love to have Harris back but he might have outgrown the roles we've got for him.
I actually do want Bush back. By all accounts he's a great teammate and the hardest working bastard in the league. He's unique in that he's got those veteran lead-by-example type qualities without all the messy pride and contract expectation of a former star.
You gotta have a fullback so if Kuhn wants the job he can sign for peanuts and compete against a UDFA next year.
Flip a coin between Flynn and Tolzien. I don't care. I think Flynn holds a better clipboard and Tolzien is the better actual QB.
There is a number I'd pay to get back Guion and Lattimore but they wouldn't like it.

Cobb: keep... Pay him.
Bulaga: probably keep... He is not a great player, but he is a good player. Unless someone ponies up for him and pays him like an All-Pro, we should sign him.
Williams: probably keep... He is not as good was Woodson was for us. He's better than Shields. Would be a mistake to let him go unless the price is just crazy.
House: probably keep... He's still young and can play the outside. He will probably get a 1-year deal, but we cannot overpay.
Richardson: probably keep... Good special teamer and will be cheap.
Tolzien: probably keep... He won't get any big offers in free agency. Now that he's more acquainted with the offense, he's the backup in 2015
Guion: probably keep... Depends on Raji and what kind of sniffs he gets in free agency.
Barclay: probably keep... Depending on how his knee recovers. He won't have a big price tag due to the injury.
Harris: probably keep... We'd have to draft a RB or strike gold with an UDFA to let him walk. He's cheap.
Raji: probably keep... He's a decent player and I can't imagine the market being that good for his services.
Boykin: let him go... Janis, Abby, and Dorsey are going to be cheaper and one will turn into a player
Bush: probably let go... Bring him into camp if he doesn't get any interest in FA
Kuhn: let him go... Finding a similar player to replace him would probably be easy and definitely be cheaper
Flynn: probably let him go... Could be the right draft to pick up a QB, or else wise just stick with Scotty
Lattimore: let him go... Easily replaced.

Before the season, I would have said James Jones type number for Cobb, which probably would mean losing him. However, he seems to have bulked up and become more sturdy without losing his speed and shiftiness. I now see him as elite. Give him Jordy type money, but draw the line there. Bulaga won't be all that expensive - keep him - he seemed better this year than even the year before his knee injury when he was inexplicably mediocre. I think we can afford Tramon if it is for only 1-2 years. He's still NFL starter quality. I want to see Harris back and used more in the running game. IMO he's better than Starks. Guion is head and shoulders better than Raji. They just better not lose him and pay Raji the same or more than Guion would cost. Tolzien over Flynn, hell yeah! Barclay yes - he will be cheap. Boykin will be #6 with Abbrederis coming back, but he will be like Bush - worth a pittance for his special teams play. Kuhn for the vet. minimum assuming they don't do my pet idea that will never happen - go back to split backs. I never had the high opinion many do for Richardson, but dirt cheap he's worth keeping.
Off topic, but: Jumal Rolle looked great last week for Houston - sure wish we had him instead of Goodson (come on, Goodson, make me eat my words next year).

I think you have to find a way to keep House. Some interesting stats from GBPG:
Quarterbacks have an average rating of 69.5 when targeting House, according to Pro Football Focus. They're completing 46.3 percent of their passes. Both numbers are best among Packers cornerbacks.
I don't see anyway that they can keep both Williams and House. Both will expect the opportunity to be the starter. That probably makes Williams the odd man out due to age, unless....................they move Shields via trade. I like Shields as a player, but too often in crucial games he seems to go out with injuries, the Super Bowl, playoff game vs. SF, NE this past week, etc. Injuries are an aggravation alone, but he seems to compound them by missing big games. If they could use him to get a MLB, while keeping both Williams and House, I would be OK with moving Shields.
They have to try to keep Bulaga. The O-line seems to be turning a corner, and keeping the unit together is important.
I want them to keep Cobb, but not for Nelson-type money or more. I'm afraid it might take that to sign him, so if they lose him because of that, I am willing to accept it.
Despite his penalty on the one punt, there have been some glowing reports about Goodsons performance on STs. He could be the heir-apparent to Bush.
I think they should be willing to spend some money on Cobb, Bulaga and House; maybe some for Williams and maybe a decent but not excessive contract for one of Raji and Guiton. All the rest are guys to sign if the money is right, but not critical.
If they need cap space, cut Masthay. They don't punt anyway!

I think you have to find a way to keep House.
The numbers don't always tell the whole story. House is a dime back at best. Lacks ball skills. Too inconsistent.
The NE game is a perfect example of why it's OK to let House walk. There were 3 instances in which House could've picked off the ball, but do to his poor ball skill, he did not. The TD pass, sure it was Golden Arm Brady making an awesome throw, but House's technique was so out of wreck, it was as if Miley Cyrus was playing.
If Williams doesn't ask for tons of money, bring him back and mix him and Hayward inside and outside.
Btw, DuJuan Harris will only be a "restricted" free agent, right? If that's the case, should be easy/cheap to retain. Trade Starks.

Pretty much agree here except for trading Starks. He didn't draw much interest on the free agency market last year, so I doubt he has trade value. I would like to see more of Harris though. He's a good receiver, and Arod finally seems more willing to check down to his RB when things aren't open downfield.

I have no interest in resigning TWill. He's still capable, but this is his last payday. He's in a Greg Jennings situation, and I don't see him giving any hometown discount. He's not going to be worth $8M+ per year for very long at his age.
Cobb is a must sign, regardless of price. His skill set is difficult to come by and he can create matchup nightmares for opposing defenses in a way that a more traditional WR like Jordy never could. If you aren't going to have a dynamic receiving RB to rely on, Cobb is a must keep.
Bulaga will be an interesting guy to follow. Given his injury history, I don't think you want to pay a lot for him. Will someone else take on that risk? If so, then I think you have to let him go.
We keep Flynn over Tolzien. Tolzien is going to want a chance to go somewhere where he has some kind of chance to compete for playing time. He's not going to stay behind Rodgers. Flynn had his chance. He's Doug Pederson now.

My thought on Cobb is that he will not get the numbers he does in another system (short of Denver w/Manning and possibly NE) as being with Rodgers and GB enables him to do so. I think that front row seat to seeing Jennings leave and the shit situation he is in is going to be on his mind come signing time. Some players only care about the $ and usually they end up well paid, but miserable in the situation they end up in. Those are the guys you hear about that "just want to go to a winner" to end their career. I really hope and believe that Cobb will want to stay in GB, but will realize that he may not get paid by them as much as he possibly could elsewhere. He sees what Rodgers is doing and if he's smart, he'll stay here, win, get gaudy numbers, and be rather well paid.

I believe we will be about 34 million under the cap. Add to that the 6 million (guessing) we'd save from cutting Hawk and Jones and we're around 40 million. Barrington and Clay will start there next year.
Priorities:
Cobb: 13 million (everyone wins. He'll learn his lesson about leaving Rodgers from Jennings).
Bulaga 5 million. Plenty of mileage left.
Raji 5 million (one year just like last time).
House 6 million-2 year "prove it" deal (It's either him or Tramon and Ted usually pays the younger guy).
Probably also Guion if the money is right.
Count on the draft and FA to take care of bolstering the LBer corp.

Probably also Guion if the money is right.
Count on the draft and FA to take care of bolstering the LBer corp.

I donno, the coaches must have plans for Tolzien or else why keep him around on the 53?

I think the Packers prefer Tolzien's skills, but weren't sure if he was ready to be the backup this year. So they gave him another year on the roster to see how much progress he can make picking up the offense. At the end of the year though they'll decide between Flynn and Tolzien. I don't think they'll keep 3 QB's again.

So do their plans include sitting Aaron Rodgers? There is no chance for Tolzien to start in Green Bay. If Tolzien wants a chance to prove himself on the field in the NFL, he'll have to go elsewhere. He knows that...and if that is what he wants, why would he resign with Green Bay?

House is a dime back at best. Lacks ball skills. Too inconsistent.
I disagree with each of those statements.

You knew what I meant. They must like what they see in him to keep him around. Scott has to know he isn't going to start in GB but he may know he is in a good situation to hone his skills with these QB gurus even if he's backing up AR in 2015.

Where is Tolzien going to get a chance to start? He has only been 1st or 2nd on a depth chart in Green Bay and that was due to injury.
His best bet would be sign on to a team with a weak starter as the #2 guy. But even that is precarious because that team will be looking to draft someone.
Not saying its impossible, but there might not be a lot of fits like that.

I could see Tolzien getting a decent paycheck from Jacksonville or Houston. Not to be the starter mind you. Maybe even Oakland.

I don't understand why people seem to think there will be all these teams wanting to sign Tolzien. He's 27 (almost 28) and hasn't been anything more than a #3 except for a brief period last year when the Packers were forced to play him.

Packer FA plans according to McGinn: Cobb is first priority

Clay won't start at ILB next year. We won't need to pay $5M to resign Raji. He only got $4M for this year and he had a season ending injury and will be close to 30 this year. $5M sounds about right for Bulaga. I think Cobb is gone if he wants $13M. I'm hopeful for a Jordy-like deal.

I hope your correct. He's an important piece to Packer success.

I have a feeling Raji may not be back. Guion has played pretty well and is younger than Raji. I imagine they intend to bring Pennel back, and I'm not sure they really have a use for 3 NT types.

I say get rid of Jones and peppers for sure, that would free up some money.
If any of the GMs had a crystal ball and could've seen that he'd play like this, he'd be making $10M+, not the 8.5 that he is. I was skeptical at the time of the signing, but you have to be just reading the boxscores and not watching the games to not appreciate what he is doing out there.

I wonder if Flynn is back in 2015. Yes, he's the #2 this year but they must see some potential in Tolzien to keep him on the 53 this year. Of course both could be gone in 2015...
I wouldn't bet against that last line - I don't see any reason for either to be back. Flynn had some magic at one time, but he looks truly bad when he's in a game now. Unless he brings something to the table that helps Rodgers, the way Pederson reportedly did at one time there is not reason to keep a dead end player like that. I do remember reading something that said he did a fabulous job of imitating other QBs when he ran the scout team.
Tolzien? Impossible to tell what the story is there. He's not a game-day active. There is sure no indication he is developing into anything, and he's no spring chicken at 27. If he'd been active during those blow-outs, there might've been a chance to see what he could do.

Each of them can also play 3 tech. I could see it, but it someone would need to drop out. Luther Robinson might be out of luck. Pennel could be on roster but could they hide him on PS?
Going to come down to cost.

Until the Dallas or Washington sign someone. As McGinn pointed out, there are two tackles with recent signings both making over $6 mil per year which might price Bulaga out of Green Bay.
Unfortunately for the Packers, Bulaga looks like the best of the weak group of unrestricted tackles. Moreover, right tackles Gosder Cherilus of Indianapolis and Phil Loadholt of Minnesota signed deals in March 2013 averaging $7 million and $6.25 million, respectively, and their level of play isn't close to Bulaga's.

Flynn had some magic at one time, but he looks truly bad when he's in a game now.
The only time he's been in a game this year has been in mop up duty when the team is up 52-10. Hand off on 1st down and 2nd down...and he's only passing on clear passing downs in 3rd and long, which plays into the advantage of the defense. Impossible to actually make a judgment under those conditions. Bottom line...he was good before he left, and he was capable enough last year to keep us in it when Rodgers went down. Your #2 QB isn't going to be great. Half the teams in the NFL don't have a decent #1 QB.

I suppose most teams usually only dress 2 QBs and the coaches must feel Flynn has a better grasp of the playbook. I just wonder why we are keeping him on the 53 like this if we aren't gonna use him at all.

Well, if you can, I say you keep Cobb, Bulaga, Raji, Guion, and Williams as your highest priorities, knowing though you don't want to sign someone like Williams to a four year deal, or Raji to any kind of long-term deal. Bulaga maybe you try for a one-year to see if he can stay healthy.
But as others have said, it'd be dumb to try to match a dumb offer by a dumb owner. So if someone offers Williams a 7 mill-a-year, five year deal, fuggedaboutit. Or is Dan Snyder elects to offer Bryan Bulaga a long-term deal with left-tackle money, skip it. But if you can, keep those dudes above. And try to keep Barclay, Richardson, and even Bush, too, for another two years.

Yes, and not sure how, as it stands now, Tolzien could be of help in that same situation.
On that note, I was surprised to hear the '3rd QB rule' was eliminated in favour of an extra game day active. I think that's a mistake, no team is going to dress a 3rd QB instead of a specialist or depth at another position, so the 3rd string/developmental guys never get a chance to see the field because teams are always going to opt to dress a vet backup instead. And because of that, the only reason to have the 3rd QB on the roster instead of the PS is if you're worried someone else might pick him up.
If the league really felt the extra body was needed on game day, they could've allowed it, but still also kept the 3rd QB rule.
