Kinda makes a football game seem less significant - doesn't it?

That's dying young. Anyone know the cause? I worry about Mike's longevity.

Forget his physical health for now - really until he dies. Despite Mike's tough guy eat dirt and shit nails facade, this isn't something that's going to leave his mind any time soon. The timing is as good as it could get as far as distractions go, but I get the feeling he might be the kind of guy who over-focuses on football this coming year until he melts down.

Hope I'm wrong, but I wouldn't be surprised if Rodgers has to take on an even larger leadership role next season to act as a pressure release valve for his coach, and if a very fine line isn't walked, or if Dom Capers blacks out for extended periods of time again, next season could become highly fractured.

An autopsy, according to the LINK was scheduled for today.

This tragic loss will add perspective to Mike McCarthy's life.

What do you say at tough times like this that have any real meaning.

This is really a rough 'hit' for Mike McCarthy. How will it change him?

We all should be thankful for life and what we do with it because it can be taken in a heartbeat.

It's a serious wake up call on mortality. But I don't think it will overwhelm Stubby. He seems to be pretty grounded outside football. That doesn't mean he isn't in severe danger of a chest grab and face plant. Hopefully he'll get the message. And I don't mean a prescription for lipitor.

Harsh. Didn't know him, obviously, but presumably he wasn't an absolute worthless slag.

No man is an island,
Entire of itself.
Each is a piece of the continent,
A part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea,
Europe is the less.
As well as if a promontory were.
As well as if a manor of thine own
Or of thine friend's were.
Each man's death diminishes me,
For I am involved in mankind.
Therefore, send not to know
For whom the bell tolls,
It tolls for thee.

I just discovered this article ( Link Below ) and it informs that Joe McCarthy died of a heart attack. We're aware that there was to be an autopsy which is often a private matter.

This article is worth reading. It tells us about Mike McCarthy's early life and duties as a teen. It informs us of the value added relationship that he had with his younger brother Joe.

Going through this stuff isn't easy. I've lost the closest men in my life to heart failure. Mike McCarthy lost his only brother. He has three sisters living. This loss will change Mike McCarthy in some manner. I hope he can draw on any avenue of strength that is available to him. Grief can surround you and make it difficult to function with all systems on go.

"Definitely. Life is precious," McCarthy said. "I don’t have the words or the emotional discipline to take you through it. It’s very difficult, and we’re pressing on as a family."

This from today grants me Optimism +6.
