It's sad because he was a good dude. Smart business decision by the Packers.

$7 per? Again, another team paid what may be too much for a homegrown player. Good luck, but too rich.

Way too much money. I guess I'll have to put him in the same file drawer with Greg Jennings and a few others.

Wow. Be interesting to see if he gets most of it.

Gonna be a Hayward kind of year.

Wonder how much of it is guaranteed. Doubtful he is around long enough to collect the full amount

Good deal for him to be sure - if, of course, he sees the money. I wonder how much of that is up front?

edit: ninja'd so badly, it looks like I plagarized Bossman!

Can't be mad at either side here. He got nearly double the money from another team. I hope he retires as a packer one day. Have great memories of a lot of great plays he's made over the years. Wish him well.

Only problem is that it leaves us really thin at DB, unless Hyde moves back to CB or nickel. Hayward maybe OK, but after him....who???

Well, they kept Goodson over Jumal Rolle for a reason. Rolle played well in preseason for GB, but was released and signed to the PS. Ultimately, Rolle was picked up by the Texans, and had 3 interceptions in 10 games for them. Maybe we will find out what they saw in Goodson to keep him over Rolle.

Nothing. They didn't know what they had in either guy so they kept the guy they drafted. Looks to be a mistake.

“I know this is a good spot for me,” Williams told the Browns' website. “It carries the same tradition Green Bay had. I'm just ready for a new chapter in my life.”

Tramon must be a football historian if he knows of a time when Cleveland's tradition was comparable to Green Bay's.

It's a good sign for the Packers that Twill signed with Cleveland. It means he must be done. I told you they were desperate! Looks like they overpaid, but depends on the GM. Loved Twill, loved him lighting up Kap. Good luck; Twill did not have a step to lose and when he does, it will be over very quickly.

They certainly should have known what they had in Rolle. He was with them most of 2013, including a short stint on the 53 man roster. They had him all of last off season and the full training camp.

I'm not ready to write off Goodson just yet. It was suggested late last year that he was set to replace Bush as gunner this year. Apparently, like Bush, he is one tough and determined guy, but faster. Williams took a couple years to some around.

Tay Glover-Wright

an extremely raw but very athletic CB who was on the practice squad last year is someone a few people are saying we should watch out for

with proper coaching he could turn into another sam shields

he's a 6 foot 4.3- 40 guy

Well Shit! 3 year for 21 mil. Good for Tramon. He made out really good.
Now what? We've got alot of cap room. We need ILB and now CB depth. CB pantry is bare. I have no clue what ILBs are out there.
Guion and/or Raji are not going to consume the entire 22 mil or so we have left, if TT wants to sign them. Are there any players up for FA next year that TT could extend this year?

gbgary

saw some surprising stats today for him...allowed 10 tds last season (double his second highest season), allowed 10 in 2011,12, and 2013 also. his 2010 opposing passer rating was 43.8...was 106.5 last year. had 9 games with at least a 104 opr in 2014. guess it really was time for him to go.

#Packers increased offer to T. Williams to $5M per yr, drawing line in sand. He entered weekend seeking $30M over 4 yrs. Got $7M avg w/Clev.

Damn, everything I see says 21 mil for 3. When I saw the announcement, I figured 12 gar, & a few years of funny money. It appears that it's a 3 yr, legit deal. That's WAY too much. The Browns should have kept Skrine for that kinda bread.

No kidding. The only thing Cleveland has as far as tradition is a long history but not nearly as much success.

This would be a nice return on our investment seeing TWill was originally an UDFA.

Jesus, seems like a lot for him. Hard to keep track of the economics of the game, but I think he's a marginal starter now (a guy you're looking to replace due to diminishing skills) and that's a steep contract for that role.

Ms referenced Js not wanting Togo over 5.2 a year. Bummed but don't blame either side. Sad though as he wanted to stay here and he was our best cb last year imo so Hate to lose good people who want to stay.

If Tramon only has one good year left in him, the Browns are essentially paying him $10M for that year. I can't blame the Packers or the 30 other teams for passing on a deal like this.

In a passing league, people should have been fighting to sign Williams, but most felt he wasn't worth this type of money either.

Cobb and Bulaga both probably took less money because they wanted to stay here. If Tramon was offered 5 million per year to stay here and left, I would argue he didn't want to stay here all that badly. He took the highest amount of money even though it meant going to perhaps the worst organization in football. That's fine. That's his right. But I don't think there's anything sad about the fact that he's gone because he made that choice. Staying here was a real option for him.

I think Twill knows the end is near, and he needed to get the most GM possible. Smart guy; the money will last longer than the ring he would have received at the end of next season (I hope).

Ya, it seems clear that money was the primary factor for Williams. Can't blame him for that, many others would approach it the same. However, I wouldn't say he needed to do that, just that he wanted to. After having earned $37 M already, some may have found it good enough to sign a decent contract to finish his career where it emerged, with a team that should be a SB competitor.

Just read that Hayward started 7 games at CB in 2012. That makes me feel a little better. I thought he had played strictly slot.
