I know he could still be punished by the NFL, but his legal problems seem to be over.

I would think yes, because his price has probably gone down as a result. While he may be suspended, the team will still benefit when he returns.

Yep. Raji and Guion would make a strong tandem at NT. They can hang out and get high together while they watch film and come up with new approaches to taking on double teams.

If the Packers wanted Raji, they could have signed him by now. I'm guessing the only reason Raji hasn't been signed is because they were waiting to see what happens with Guion - and they want Guion over Raji. Raji might be a back up plan if they don't get Guion OR maybe they're done with Raji OR maybe they'll wait till after the draft.

I'm for signing both. We have the money, why not?

A recent article suggested that Raji was delaying things, too. Apparently, just this month he began to max out on some of his weight work, and he wants to be a little farther along before working out for other teams that are concerned about the recovery of his arm.

There is no hurry for either side to get anything done at this point. Although, with Guion's legal issues behind him, things could heat up a little. I wonder how soon the league will decide on any punishment. It shouldn't take too long.

I think the Packers want to get Guion signed first. Having Guion on board could lessen Raji's leverage in talks with the Packers a bit.

Maybe TT and MM are thinking about bringing back Pennel and either Guion or Raji but not both. Hard to imagine them keeping all three.

They wouldn't keep all 3, but they might want to bring in all 3 and let them battle for 2 spots. I guess that would depend on how much of a signing bonus you would have to offer. Not much I would think.

M3 reinterated he is still in favor of Guion coming back. Said so today meeting again with Packer media.

As soon as someone posts that quote in an article, I will update. In the meantime, here are his quotes about Tramontana, Hawk and House and how they will try to replace them.

So is this goodbye, BJ Raji?

And if so, would the Pack get a comp pick at all?

I'd rather see them re-sign Raji, let him play for a year, and then let him walk - they could then get maybe a fifth round or fourth round pick, depending on how he played and who signed him to a big contract.

I wonder how ready Mike Pennel is?

I wouldn't think signing Guion to a one year deal would have any implications on BJ Raji. I expect him back. Probably around 2.5-3m

How about $2 mil per year?

http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/12586170/letroy-guion-green-bay-packers-reach-one-year-deal

The Packers have offered Raji a one-year contract worth less than $2 million, according to a source familiar with the negotiations. Last year, Raji returned to the Packers on a one-year, $4 million contract.

Have confirmed @RobDemovsky report about Letroy Guion on a one-year deal. At one point, #Packers were offering $1.3M but it came in higher.

Whatever Guinan's contract, his signing bonus should be exactly $190,028.81.

So, it seems that this year they have both Raji and Guion for less than what they paid Raji alone last year.

Letroy Guion's one-year deal with the #Packers is worth $2.75 M, per league source.

Components of this deal matter a lot as he might be facing a suspension.

Although, moving this fast might be interpreted that the Packers know what stage of the Drug and Alcohol policy he is in and are reasonably certain he won't be thrown into the thicket of Personal Conduct Policy.

One source said he expected both Raji and Guion's deals to come in around $3 million, but that incentives would be about a $1 million of both.

So, as the day rolls on the reported values of their contracts have grown to be more combined in 2015 than they were combined in 2014.
Oh well, so much for saving money at the position!

With Mike Pennel flashing so much promise they can hardly hope to hide him on the PS.

So, they must be thinking that between the three of them, they hope to have some combination of two who are not hurt or suspended at some point.

Are they really thinking of keeping three NT's or just banking that at least one of the three will be hurt or suspended for a substantial number of games?

In 2010 they had Raji, Pickett and Howard Green, and managed to make them all useful. Maybe they can do it with Raji, Guion and Pennel.

I hope so. But if all three survive training camp, and if you go along with the idea that the Packers usually take six defensive linemen, then you've only got room for three ends. And I hope they don't press Raji into duty as an end any more.

Both Guion and Pennell are more suited to DE than Raji, I would think.

I just got this DT news in my Yahoo E-mail and I'm surprized. Especially so and GUION.

Now.....at least ..... in my view of it all this off season ..... thse moves Raji and Guion @ DT.... doesn't pin TT as much into getting a top ranked DT early in the draft not that he won't anyway; and yet these signings take the heat off ... 'the head off the snake' position on the Packer DL.

I've be absent from here and now must try to catch up. Seldom a day expires that I don't think about Packerrats. :-)

This is the last day of March. DRAFT month is before us. I've been keying more on my other team the Montreal Canadians ...Les HABITANTS ...Les HABS. I have a keen interest in Texas Hold 'Em and play on three different online sites.

I'm otherwise now very busy dealing with the hopeful end of a cold harsh winter and loads of yard work as Mae and I didn't get back here until late NOV. ......... so loads of leaves to deal with....and this and that and this...LOL

It's great to post here again though. I have to get caught up on the Draft Buzz. Always a big thing with this Packer fan.

Have an awesome day Packerrats. :-)

GO PACKERS ! GO PACK GO !!

BTW, heard back from Silverstein on Guion's deal with Stark courts. Stunningly, his lawyer kinda glossed over a bit. He was brought up on two counts, one for the firearm and one for possession over 20g of cannabis.

Spoon sent a screen shot of the court record and it looks like he pleaded no contest to one charge and the other was labeled no action. Prosecutor/court agreed to take no action on the firearm according to other reports. So it seems he plead no contest to the possession charge.

Its confusing as the possession is listed as Count 2 in one section but seems to be the subject of the fines listed under Count one is the records section.
