I'm told Patriots and Matt Flynn have agreed to a deal

I wonder if he'll be there after Brady's suspension is done...?

Well if it doesn't work out for him in New England, he's always got this to fall back on.

Good chance that no, but as a vet his salary for the season is guaranteed if he's on the roster week 1 of the season.

Is he going to "pass the shit out of" the ball?

If you're a youngster in Louisiana, this is why you practice so hard to be a backup NFL QB:

Flynn has a pretty damn good life. He is very wealthy, doesn't have to get the shit pounded out of him. But best of all has a super hot wife. I would still prefer him or anyone over Tolzien, but hopefully it never gets to that point.

Poor Flynn doesn't have a good arm any longer. The QB market out there must really be wanting if NE signed him and we passed. From what I'm hearing on other forums from fans who have attended the OTAs open to the public is Tolzien looks like a new guy and is really slinging it in practice.

Many times, when you see a vet FA picked up by a team, he had a great game vs the team that signs him.

Matty definitely did just that.

Next year, they'll trade Tolzien for a fifth. Watch.

My guess is that Flynn to the Patriots is more to do with vacuuming his brain of everything they can related to MM's systems.

It's one thing to see it on film, it's quite another to get a blow by blow breakdown of how and why. As the old saying goes, "... he knows where the bodies are buried."

Why would NE want to know MM's system unless they feel we're the NFC favorites for the SB. We are not playing NE this year except in the first preseason game.

It's a copycat league. The Packers are a top 5 offense every year. Bellichick and McCarthy both have a history of saying how impressed they are by the other.

If you stop trying to learn, you start losing and I would assume BB knows that.

Belichick could have picked him up three other times if he wanted to know the offense. He could have signed Graham Harrell for a membership to the Jam of the Month Club.

Its the Brady's inflated sense of entitlement that brought this about.

It is insurance because of Brady's upcoming suspension. If you look a free agent QBs available the pickings are mighty slim:

Flynn is a Brady insurance policy.

Flynn will be in the NE camp. He will get cut on the last cut because NE doesn't want to have to guarantee his contract. They will let Jimmy Garoppolo play week 1 and if he flounders Flynn will be picked back up by NE. When Brady comes back from his suspension Flynn will be cut again.

NFL players can only get one guaranteed contract per career. Flynn already used his in either Oakland or Seattle. So the "on the roster first game" doesn't apply to him.

fucking really? I thought that applied to veterans universally, but I found an (old) article saying it's treated as a one-time 'separation pay'. It pre-dates the current CBA.

Anyone know if this changed?

I don't think it changed. I read an article (I think ESPN) mentioning Flynn wasn't eligible relating specifically to the Patriots. I might be wrong with the source.

Had to have been Oakland. Seattle traded him in the off season to Oakland. Oakland released him during the season.
