So the Seahawks allowed the Rams to tie the game late. They were kicking off for OT and launched what looked like a surprise onside kick that the Rams, amazingly because they were caught off guard, caught cleanly on the fly. But that is not what the sideline called for:

Pete Carroll: Seahawks didn’t intend for OT kick to be onside (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/09/13/pete-carroll-seahawks-didnt-intend-for-ot-kick-to-be-onside/)

According to Danny O’Neil of 710 ESPN, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said the ball was mis-hit, and wasn’t supposed to be that short.

Carroll said the goal was to kick it to around the 15-yard line, to make the up back field it and keep it out of the hands of Rams returner Tavon Austin.

“I’m not going to go into detail about exactly what was planned,” Hauschka said. “But I didn’t execute the kick the way I wanted to.”

No but it is not looking good.

There's going to be a lot of nervous chatter about the Denver offense tomorrow. That'll be fun. The locals will be pretty worried about KC on Thursday.

I wanted the Broncos to lose a few games early so that maybe the Green Bay/Denver ticket prices would go down soon. I still need to purchase some.

Apparently the Giants got confused about how many TOs (time outs, not Terrell Owenses) the Cowboys had left after the declined penalty against Dallas. Weird rule, that. If Dallas truly has only one TO remaining, it's probably right not to score. Problem is, in the heat of the moment football players (and certain coaches) are not reliable sources of information for details such as this.

Vikings have to be disappointed with that showing. On offense they fell far short of what I imagined Teddy and AP together would look like. Teddy would have looked a lot better had the refs not taken away his perfect bomb to Wallace. He spread the ball around check down after check down but something is fundamentally off where he can throw a gem like that one to Wallace in the end zone but then miss others so badly. Peterson looked like the same old Peterson but he didn't get enough snaps to show it. They pulled him every 3rd down and perhaps coincidently they were horrible on 3rd down without him. He's not a great receiver or blocker but they've got to find a way to keep him on the field for his legs alone.

On defense the Vikes got exponentially worse as the game went on. I'm not looking forward to playing Kaepernick again.

My thoughts on Vikings vs. 49ers.

1) The 49ers are underrated. Still a lot of talent on that team. Did that team quit on Harbaugh last year?
2) Peterson looks pretty much the same. He was too anxious last night, looking for the home run ball, but he's going to be tough to play against.
3) Carlos Hyde looked phenomenal. Wish I had him on my fantasy football leagues.
4) The Vikings will be better than this, but if Bridgewater doesn't dramatically improve, they are no threat to the Packers. He looked terrible. Is it Teddy Ponder or Christian Bridgewater? He'll be better than that, but that's who he reminded me of last night.

Should be an interesting contest between the Lions and Vikings this week. The Lions let an eighteen point lead get away (though at least it wasn't in the NFC Championship game), and the Vikings' offensive line looks a bit of a mess.

Loser's in a hole, and the winner could conceivably be tied for first in the NFC North by Sunday night, though we hope not.

What that video shows is that as he gets older, Kaepernick isn't getting any smarter. He'll be lucky to finish the season healthy, and without him they're done.

He's like a Josh McCown out there!

I didn't see the game. Is Peterson old now, rusty, or was the 49er defense decent?

Peterson showed strength on some plays, but didn't show the speed and ability to bounce off for long gains when the hole wasn't there. He should be respected, but not feared by DC's matching up against him.

The Vikings line did him (and Bridgewater) no favors at all.

A trend I hope continues all season long

Peterson will be back, some rust is expected. Bridgewater is a mystery. He really looks like the player most teams have at backup. Perhaps a bad game.

Some of the stuff I heard was that Peterson was a tire fire as a blocker, so they were pulling him on passing downs...and Bridgewater had first game of the season jitters. I think they'll get better as the season goes on, but they could easily be 2-6 at the midseason mark. I think they're still a mystery...and until they get Sullivan back their line is gonna struggle. I also think you have to feed Peterson the ball more than 10 times to knock the rust off...If Lacy only got the ball 10 times in a loss we'd be howling.
