Not much reason to read Bob anymore on Sundays. The new guy is killing it.

His dime personnel group — two defensive lineman, three linebackers, six defensive backs — requires just one player in the middle of the field, which is why it is sometimes referred to as the 4-1 defense.
With Thomas manning the middle, Clay Matthews is free to line up as an edge rusher and harass opposing quarterbacks. That, of course, is the goal.
In recent weeks, however, Capers unveiled a new wrinkle to the dime defense that appears no more than a few snaps each game. He swaps Matthews and Thomas so that the former occupies the middle of the field and the latter, diminutive though he may be, is asked to rush the quarterback from an outside linebacker position.
There's just one problem: Thomas has never done that before. Not just at the NFL level. He's never ever done it before.
UNSOUND!
