Is he going to be a Packer next year?

If we wants to be, yes. If he only wants the highest paycheck, probably not.
very doubtfull IMO, unless they can resign him for next to nothing
i think the bigger question is, do the packers resign eddy lacy after next season? some teams are willing to pay huge amounts of money for star running backs, other teams seem to think they are a dime a dozen. i don't know if i see the packers giving lacy a monster deal

Maybe, the Packers highest paid RB is Starks right now at $1.8M for 2015. The Packers really have no money invested in the RB position and Lacy is still on his rookie contract. They could afford him at a more reasonable number but it all comes down to what TT is willing to spend on the position.

my first inclination is to say starks won't be resigned but lacy will...but who knows. it's not like we won't be able to afford them both.

Starks has modest market value. Why not resign him?

Offer Starks another 2 year contract and let him shop around for a better deal. He's a quality backup who has proven he can be a capable spot starter.
I like Lacy and understand he starts every season slow but between his injury history, running style, and weight (is he 260 now?) I don't know if he'll be effective/available halfway through a second contract. Drafting good RBs in lower rounds is possible in the current NFL.

He didn't practice today. Anybody hear why?

260? he doesn't look any heavier than lynch (215) and leveon bell (240). 215 for lynch really seems off. lacy's at 234.

Bell has lost a considerable amount of weight since being drafted. He's closer to 220-225 these days....you really don't think Eddie looks heavier than him? Eddies pushing 240 plus to my eyes.

Well I just guaranteed Starks doesn't get re-signed, I bought his Jersey.

Bell was 240? He's 215 certainly not more than 220.

Well, Michael Cohen said in his podcast that he saw an undressed Lacy standing next to Alonzo Harris in the locker room. He said Lacy is much thicker and heavier, placing him north of 250. 260 is not unthinkable; he's probably a couple biscuits away.

Harris is listed at 214... If Lacy were 30 # heavier, that still puts him shy of 250... keep in mind, Harris is 6'1" and Lacy is 5'1"

Harris is listed at 237, he is a monster, probably heavier. He was 214 in ninth grade.
I assume you mean 5' 11" for Lacy.
Smuggler, I don't want to be impolite, but have you been drinking?
Harlan Huckleby

Only kidding about the drinking. But those are two humongous backs. And a guy as muscular as Lacy could carry 255 without looking sloppy-fat.

I didn't realize Harris was that big.

MM admits it, Lacy is big:
Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy acknowledged on Monday what’s been visible to the eye all season.
Eddie Lacy is larger than he was as rookie in 2013.
“I’m not going to get into guy’s weights,” McCarthy said. “I mean, I’ve never been asked a question about a guy’s weight. But I think players do get bigger in their career. But he’s bigger than he was as a rookie.”
Per a JSO article, estimates put Lacy at about 240, which is 30 pounds heavier than he was as a freshman at Alabama. At the combine, he weighed in at 231.
Is Lacy going to be one of the RBs that are mostly done after 4-5 years?

I usually post on mobile anymore, so I have typos quite frequently. As for Harris, that's what I get for trusting to ESPN. And of course I've been drinking. Haven't you??

Given his injury history, I don't think he'll have a huge amount of suitors lining up for his services. Plus, RBs don't make a ton of cash anymore (in general) and teams are more likely to go with a cheap rookie if they can. So he's not going to be all that expensive to keep, IMO.

Those feelings stirring within you may be disturbing, but when you accept them you'll feel fine. It's OK, you're OK.

There have been reports that Lacy's playing weight at Alabama as a senior was 240#. He took off weight to try to get quicker for the Combine. Lacy is probably okay at 240 or so. 250, if that's where he is, might be getting too big though.

A chubby and injured Lacy increases the chance that Starks will be brought back next year.

Guess men are all chasing that dream of the awesome, endless stiffy. The NFL is pretty much now a subsidiary of boner pill manufacturers.

Lacy says his weight is fine. He also said this:
http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/14004012/eddie-lacy-green-bay-packers-refutes-talk-overweight
Lacy said the bye week film review showed his running posture had changed from his first two seasons, so he has focused on getting his pads lower and square during practice this week.
"Watching film, I noticed I would take a hit and I would break the tackle, but I would break it sideways, which allows other people to come tackle me versus in years past my pads would be low," Lacy said. "So when I take the hit, I'm still moving forward. It's just getting my pads down and getting back to basics."

I am not too worried about Starks sitting, I hope he does if he is not 100%. The dropoff to Harris is not that great, Harris is quicker than most people credit him, IMO. I suppose speed to compliment Lacy is preferable, but Harris is OK.

Cut them all and start fresh. Draft one, sign Andre Ellington, bring in 2 UDFA and keep the best 3.

Or keep Ty, use the cap savings from Starks to bring Lacy back on a prove-it one year deal, draft one in case Lacy flames out or injuries hit, and bring in 2 UDFA...keeping the best 3.
I'm not sold on Crockett making the 53 next year. I think he's maxed out his potential, and am not sure he does anything better than Ty or Lacy...or Ripkowski.

Funny, I was a big Starks fan 2 years ago. Watch your back around me.
