Its all from NFL Films archives, not a long lost missing tape of the TV broadcast, but they do have the NBC announcers doing the game (Jim Simpson and George Ratterman).

Quite a while ago, someone found a home tape of the CBS broadcast but it ended up in a custody dispute I think.

Would really love the see the TV broadcast.

Going to get a copy of this for sure, and find a way to share it here. I've got a few other oddball games, like the 20th annual shrine game (1969 pre-season Bears-Packers game).

That should tell you something about Skoronski. A number of years ago, Starr made news when he was asked who else from the '60s Packers should make the HOF. People thought he would say Kramer. He said Skoronski.

You must be young...

It was a pretty neat show but the guys in the studio talked thru most of it and really didn't show it like a normal replay of a game.

They took the TV audio and put it over NFL Films footage.

But this does exist: http://www.wsj.com/articles/SB10001424052748704709304576124373773290508

It needed restoration and much of the halftime and 3rd quarter are missing, but apparently all they need to do to show the footage is permission from the owner. They might be asking for a Brinks truck to roll into their driveway.

TV audio, or radio? I thought I read that they used the radio audio. Would they have the tv audio without the video?

Could be. It was Jim Simpson, that's the only other detail I remember.

like i said earlier, i hated the fact that they showed the whole thing at NFL films speed

you can't tell how fast guys are moving or how hard they're hitting when you show it all in slow motion

you always hear from old timers about how fast so and so was or how hard some other guy could throw a ball, but i've never seen it for myself because they are always shown in weed speed

i thought it was shit overall, mostly because of all the talking and bullshit stuff

and that fucking asshole calling mooch's home town iron city, instead of iron mountain. fuck him. btw, my home town too

yup, like rand said, the guy wants a million bucks for it, which is nothing for the nfl, they countered with a "low 6 figure number", the guy said no, and the nfl said, "well fuck you then"

and that was the end of it.

if i was the guy, i'd raise my asking price after that shit they put together last night, maybe 10 fold. thats still peanuts for the nfl

It was a poor production IMO. Looks like they were missing some of the footage from between plays, and replaced it with inane stuff from from the studio.

It was the radio audio. Even though the game was on both NBC and CBS TV, neither tape survived. They did find radio audio and plugged that in. And yes, that was Jim Simpson on play by play. I remember him doing games on NBC when I was a kid.I forget iif the color guy was Ratterman or Paul Christman.
I also agree there was way too much intrusion from all the chatter. I hope they show it straight up at a later date-maybe throw in commercials from the era between drives.
