Ted Thompson on free agency: “Just because we don’t sign somebody doesn’t mean we don’t consider people. We did a lot of considering."

Just because I havent quit smoking doesnt mean I havent considered it.

Or he can say, "Decided not to put us in cap hell."

*sigh* once again no one is advocating for big contracts. Only the odd plug in vet here and there.

Like peppers. Like Woodson. Does he do as well as other teams in free agency, not always, but he is no doubt a top 8 gm (and likely top4) gm in regards to free agency when cost benefit analysis is applied. The only contract I question in the last 3 years is neals.

I think I would take Kevin colbert, John Schneider and Steve keim over tt. Also Belicheat if he became the coach. After those 4 names, you would have to convince me.

John Schneider splits duties with Pete Caroll as far as player/personnel go. 50/50 venture.

The Steelers have been horrible while rebuilding their D.

He has done incredibly well in the past and expect the d to improve. But that is a solid point. If you took our roster and put it against the Steelers roster we maybe a little better, but not by much. To me he is strong competition to TT.

According to Pete 'the ego' Caroll.
Also I completely missed ozzie Newsome. Thanks for mentioning it in another thread Striker.

Ozzie has been a fantastic GM. Anytime Packer fans feel down about their situation, all they need to do is compare to Cleveland, losing their team, losing Belichick, and having Ozzie Newsome as the GM of their despised rival. Normally, Clefty couldn't care less who wins, but of all the teams in the NFL, Cleveland is the team Clefty would honestly enjoy seeing win a Superbowl before experiencing organic dissolution.

These are all quality players although in their 30's.

This player is available. He might be the Packers next Charles Woodson type. He made the Pro Bowl in 2015. All of these are players desire to be on a winning team...to contribute their talents.:

This is something to consider and why TT is acting quietly and FA this season. In 2017 the following players that includes 3 out of 5 of the starting OL will become FA's:

LT David Bakhtiari who 's injury at seasons end didn't help to make QB Aaron Rodgers comfortable. They tried three other options at LT and none did the trick of replacing Bakh effectively. It might be prudent for Ted Thompson to resign his LT sooner later than later as LT's in the NFL are much desired.

Other 2017 FA's that make up the starting five and FA's in 2017:

T.J. Lang and J.C. Tretter. That's a lot for TT to be concerned about.

As an added concern for Packer GM Ted Thompson:

RB Eddie Lacy will also become a FA in 2017.

Free agent DE/OLB Mike Neal has visited the Seahawks and Lions.

Neal was one of the league's least effective outside linebackers over the past two seasons. Ideally, he'd be a depth signing ..."
