Bears talking trash about the Belt.
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2016/05/03/bears-lamarr-houston-says-aaron-rodgers-championship-belt-gets-on-his-nerves/
“He’s a little arrogant for me. He’s a little too arrogant,” Houston said. “He’s a cheesehead. I’m a Bear. He’s a cheesehead. But I have a lot of respect for his game, I will say that. He’s a great quarterback. As a player, I have a lot of respect for him but the whole championship belt thing kind of gets on my nerves.”
Houston might not be the best one to talk about the way other players celebrate, considering that he once suffered a season-ending knee injury (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/07/16/lamarr-houston-there-wont-be-much-to-laugh-about-this-season/) while celebrating a sack late in the fourth quarter of a blowout loss.

In fairness to Mr. Houston, it looks a little to me like he started into a more exuberant celebration, thought better of it and tried to check himself, then landed awkwardly because of it.

With all due respect, Patler, there is a time for restraint and a time for all out trash talking stupidity.
The time for restraint was after the sack when down by 200 points or whatever.
NOW is the time for all out trash talking stupidity.
What a complete imbecile. I love this ass hat. I hope he keeps talking. This is the shit that needs to happen to get the teams hating each other again. Me likey.

Instead of starting a new thread to talk about other teams here is a bump.
So the Vikings d sucked last year as they had no d line but they are getting a lot of reinforcements this year.
Daniel Hunter back from injury.
Mike pierce back from covid opt out
Dalvin Tomlinson free agent pick up.
That is one he'll of an offseason set of additions for a cash strapped team. Their secondary was weak at the beginning of last year but steadily improved through out the season. I think they will be much better this year overall on d, likely top 10.
I also think they will be our competition for the North unless the bears get Wilson some how. Opinions?

They should be better. They were one of the worst run defenses in the NFL last year. Tomlinson will help. Not sure what kind of shape Pierce will be in. They have young CBs. They played a little better towards the end of the year, but not well enough to make me think they have that position fixed. They gave up 33 points to the Bears (in a must win game), 52 points vs. the Saints, and 35 points to the Lions in the last three weeks. Stud Harrison Smith is aging (32). Not sure if they'll get Anthony Harris back. Barr is an old 29. We'll see. it looks like a middle of the road defense. Getting a healthy Hunter back would be huge though. He's a stud.

So Andy dalton to the bears. At least it isn't Wilson, that would have sucked. I do thinkmdalton is bettervthan trubisky but not by a lot.
Jamal Williams to lions on a 2 year 7 million deal. They got a good player at a good price.i wonder how many snaps he will get. Not a great rb room.

This is the story of the Bears for the last 70 years. They have 3 QB's, but really they have none.

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday on Good Morning Football that Bears GM Ryan Pace and Seahawks GM John Schneider met in Fargo, North Dakota, presumably after attending Trey Lance's pro day, and discussed a potential swap for the discontented QB.
"They talked, offers were exchanged," Rapoport said. "The Bears certainly made a big offer -- multiple first-round picks. The Seahawks slept on it. They discussed it. Yesterday, they decided, specifically coach Pete Carroll, 70 years old, does not want to rebuild, decided we are not trading Russell Wilson to the Bears."
Only after the Seahawks made it clear they weren't trading Wilson did the Bears move to sign Dalton as the stand-in.
It's the type of drama that could be the first act of a hit rom-com.
So the guy who drafted Trubisky instead of Mahomes or Deshaun Watson was trying to trade multiple 1st round picks to make up for that mistake. That's why the Bears are the Bears.

Allen robison is great receiver. They have a good rb. When Goff had a true #1 he was a pretty good qb. Admittedly he was in a good system but my eyes tell me Goff is a good upgrade over trubisky. I don't think he will be 'the missing piece' but is definitely the best qb they have had in awhile.
Also if you look at next year's cap number we can't sign anyone we want. New Tv money hits 2023. Next year we will be looking at extensions and restructures all over again.

KY, it looks like another case of the new GM bringing in guys from his old organizations - I think the Leos' GM worked for Ted, and of course he came from the Rams. So he trusts the evaluations of those organizations. We'll see.
So far it does look more promising for them than the last regime. Goff is a good enough get-them-by kinda guy til they find their next QB of the future, and they get three first round picks to try to package sometime in the next couple of years to get one. Signing Boyle seems like a very solid move, too. I'm not so sure about Brockers - what did the Lions give up? Did they hand that third round pick back to the Rams?
But the bigger story might be that the new GM is cutting a lot of deadwood from that roster. No more patching and pretending they're contenders. He's building.
Whether he can draft well enough, and sign FA's in a smart manner, well, we'll see.
Maybe Kevin King will be next, on a cheap one year deal.

I have Hawk hate myself. It all stems back to the Fail Mary and the onside kick from hell. I do like Wilson stemming from his time with the Badgers. Wilson wanted some serious tweaking of their offense. He is a vet now and you'd think his suggestions would have had weight. Well, I made my prediction. If Seattle garners the "3 assets" for Russ they will rebuild that D and win another Owl with a game manager QB. The team that gives up the 2 firsts and a solid player will then pay Russ' salary and likely be mediocre for a long time.

This is the story of the Bears for the last 70 years. They have 3 QB's, but really they have none.
(Had to edit this. Don't want to start that "one line post" shit again)
Shockingly. there are reports that some Bears players aren't thrilled with the direction of the team.
https://www.radio.com/670thescore/sports/chicago-bears/emma-ryan-pace-roster-scramble-bears-locker-room-distraught
The Bears' culture is about to be tested, with the team facing a potential breaking point.
In need of salary cap space, the Bears are planning to part ways with top cornerback Kyle Fuller -- either through a release to clear $11 million or a trade, as Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reported. A seven-year veteran and one of the most respected players in the Bears' locker room, Fuller will soon be playing for another team -- and he could just be starting the line out of Halas Hall.
The Bears have also given star defensive lineman Akiem Hicks permission to seek a trade, the Chicago Tribune reported. He's due $10.5 million in 2021, and his exit would clear more salary cap space. If Hicks were to depart, the Bears would be losing the beating heart of their once-vaunted defense. He's a player and person who's considered indispensable in the locker room.
Upon learning of Fuller's impending exit and the possibility that Hicks could be out too, the Bears had several key players who were "pissed," as one source close to the team described. Star safety Eddie Jackson, who recently restructured his contract with the hope of keeping a teammate like Fuller in Chicago, tweeted his frustration after the news of Fuller's future became public.
"At this point," Jackson tweeted with a face-palming emoji. He later deleted the tweet.
Thursday didn't mark the first time Bears players have publicly expressed displeasure with Pace and the front office. Many took to Twitter in support of star receiver Allen Robinson last fall as his contract extension negotiations broke down. Robinson accepted the franchise tag at $18 million on Thursday, officially bringing back him to a team that suddenly looks much different.
There's a reason players are upset. The Bears aren't moving forward with some sort of strategic rebuild. They're simply hemorrhaging talent as they head toward a must-win 2021 season.

Goff with that contract is an albatross. They need to get rid of him any way possible. Probably similar to the Clev/Denver NBA trade where Denver gave up a 2nd to unload a QB contract.

Vikes signed Patrick Peterson also, so they are retooling that D. Honestly, I think they will be a tough out next year... their CBs could make the Year 2 jump and their offense got better after their bye.
The Bears are a mess. If Hicks goes, that defense is in trouble. He makes a big difference in gumming up what teams want to do in the middle. Losing Fuller also hurts them, their secondary has fallen off the last few years, swapping out Callahan (who was a decent-to-good slot corner) for Skrine, and now losing Fuller and Skrine. They will be back to trotting out late round picks for Rodgers to torch, which suits me fine. Speaking of picks, do they have all their picks now after the dust from the Mack trade has settled? I can't wait to hear about the Dalton/Foles camp battles. Sounds like a lot of players aren't thrilled there, Nagy/Pace will be on the hotseat. Oh, didn't they lose their kicker again?
Lions signing Jamaal is... kind of weird. They won't bring back AP (so surprise there) but they've spent high picks on Kerryon (who I think is good if sometimes misused) and Swift. So... you have Jamaal as an overpaid RB3, or you bench Kerryon? Stafford for Goff is a downgrade IMO. Also, they don't have much at the moment for receivers. Sure feels like team blowing things up to rebuild.
Could easily see any of these teams picking a Mac Jones type QB if the top guys get taken early as expected.

That was funny - it was like a Nelson 'ha ha' moment, then ohhhhh. I picture a longest yard moment during training camp!

I think Kyle fuller is a very good #2 CB.
Goff is better than trubisky unfortunately.
psst...Goff went to Detroit, not Chicago!

Well that was a stunning moment of stupidity that I have now recorded on the internet...
Would you believe I ment Dalton? Who is an upgrade over trubisky but not as good as Goff.

Trubisky is better than Dalton. Coaching and/or brains is his inhibiting factor.

Well that's an interesting thought experiment. Is old Dalton better than second contract Mitch? He certainly was better in year 5 than Mitch was in year 5, but the Red Rocket is now 33. It's a bit of a shit sandwich for Bears fans.

They were pretty good last year after a terrible 0-5 start. They'll likely have the opportunity to draft one of the top OT's in the 1st round.
My oldest son is a giants fan starting in 2007 when they beat the patriots. He was 5. Always liked football.
Anyway, I watch Giants games on game pass and follow their contracts, roster, draft position, etc. They are poised for a big run. I'm sort of hoping for an OT, but as long as it's a pro bowler I won't be too disappointed. Solder got restructured like Preston and might have one last solid year at RT in him. If they solidify that line a little Daniel Jones is going to enter into that top 10 QB conversation and it's an up era for QB play. Top 10 says something with this group.

Giants key pieces:
24 year old star to be QB
24 year old stud DT
23 year old stus LT
And a whole bunch of talented players overall, but hitting on those three tough to find pieces is going to bode well for their wins and losses. QB and tough to find big guys. That's a recipe.

You really think Jones is going to be a star? I have seen flashes, but nothing that tells me he's going to make a Josh Allen jump. He's taken an awful beating with that OL (83 sacks in 27 games) and had an 11-10 TD-Int ratio last year. Maybe it was losing Barkley, but from what I saw he looked worse last year than his rookie year and the stats back it up.
I think NYG has a bunch of holes. They can be filled, but they are at least another year away... and I say that before the draft. 2022 or 2023 could be interesting.

I really do think he's a star. The OL has let him down badly for two years straight. I don't blame a QB who's instantly pummeled. But when he has any amount of time, even if he has to throw falling away or run, I mean even the least amount of inadequate time, he's accurate and decisive. Huge arm, all platforms including on the run, fast, athletic, gritty. He's everything. I'll bet on him all day long. Danny Dimes, a star.

I've watched much, much of the NYG than you, so good to know. Tough for a lot of these high draft QBs because they usually go to crappy teams with porous OL, and have to develop while not getting killed. Hey, at least they get paid millions of dollars. ;)
Seriously, I think some of these guys could do much better if they were in stable scenarios or given more time to sit and learn, but the pressure to get on the field right away is so high.

After the Giants win one and then pay Jones only to be consistently good for the next decade Giants fans will scream OMG WE WASTED JONES CAREER!!!

I was kind of shocked at the Bengals moves. They have an emerging absolute stud in Burrow who they let get abused and injured. Then with money under the cap they sign a RT that isn't even that good. Their LT should be playing RT or G. There were guys out there to play LT like Trent Williams. And with the 5 pick they could get a RT. Not sure their is a stud LT to be had in this draft. Several good RT though.

They might get lucky and have Penei Sewell drop to them at #5. A lot of people think he's good enough to be the first non-QB drafted.

Real lucky. He is the only T I like at LT, and to be honest, he was such a mauler in the run game I honestly wouldn't be shocked if the Jets stay at 2 and take him. Flower's brother is the OC now, and Saleh is the coach. They value guys like that. I think Darnold will get another chance cuz...Gates.

Fuck!
Over 8 million frogskins for King and O’Sullivan. Packers could get the same output as the two aforementioned milksops by signing a couple of corners off the streets of Baltimore for the minimum-wage.

Better be @ minimum with per game bonuses. He is ok when uninjured. But rarely uninjured.

No more Golladay in Detroit also. I don't mind seeing the Giants getting him. They ain't going anywhere anyway.
This is what the new Lions' coach, Dan Campbell, said about Michael Brockers, whom they'd just acquired: "I'd say this about Brockers, he's probably one of the few in this league that can wield the hammer of Thor. We're real excited about that."
That can wield the hammer of Thor?
He's either going to be the best coach ever, or join the long, long, list of Epic Lions' Fails. A guy who says crazy shit like that will not fall in between.
