Skinbasket, come home. Mrs Ayn Rand. Woody. And then there are the lost crazies. Harvey not even round - he has no life, where is he?

The answer is that forums everywhere are a relic and have died. Social media took over. Reading this forum now is like reading pbmax's journal. Every forum I visit has declined to a trickle. Wait - there's a common element there.

I greatly exaggerate. It is OK as this little packer barber shop. I just think, as always, somehow Madtown is to blame. When it's not the Jews it's the Mexicans. Wish you were here.

We're at the height of the new season excitement. Maybe this is a unnoteworthy preseason.

I like that ! I recently joined this forum and have been criticized for posting with large print, a picture in my signature , and for my length of time in this forum . I've tried to energise these threads, only to be bitch slapped for my efforts .

I will get to know many of you as time passes, and I'll make some mistakes, but I'm swimming hard against a current now, and I will not quit !

Or maybe it's August and people are on vacation. Plus preseason games with starters basically not playing aren't worth posting about.

The games have been boring even for preseason games. Plus the Olympics are on.

I'm not sure they have been more boring than usual. But the position battles have been far more boring than most years. The Olympics do take away viewership, not necessarily because of direct timeslot competition, but because people only have so much interest per week in watching sports
on TV. I only watch 2 Olympic sports and it seems like a lot.

There really aren't a lot of training camp battles to talk about. This is a veteran team and I think it's pretty well known who the starters will be come September. It probably doesn't help that Rodgers, Nelson, Matthews, Peppers and Burnett haven't played in the preseason games yet.

Maybe having some of those guys playing next week will stoke some interest.

Red and others in this forum are why some people went away or are not posting . You want members to fall in line and walk the way YOU do , or their trying to run things or they have no business looking for fantasy league members on YOUR FORUM .

Ever sense first grade some 50+ years ago and through to jobs both good and not so good , I've always encountered this or that person that has to lord over others to feel good about themselves. Trouble is I've always been that guy that would not cow to the bully or the abusive foreman or even to an ill mannered , poorly raised , no class asshole in a movie theater . Don't expect people will want to post here , only to be regularly trashed for their efforts . I know that people support my post, even if they are not willing to face criticism for it .

I still lurk and check out the board a few times a week...
More of my browsing is done on the phone with Tapatalk and I don't believe this board uses that app. It's hard to login / view from the phone.
Social media has helped fill the void as all the beat writers post links to their articles, live tweet practices and all that.
I like to know what's going on, who's looking good/bad, injury updates and that kind of thing so this is just one of those sources for me.

I think topics like hobbies (cars, card collecting, basket weaving) fills the forum setting better now, but there will always be a need for forums so the general public can have a voice with other like minded people.

I'm a farmer now. Summer means getting maybe 1/5 of what you need to get done, done. If you're lucky. I still got a shitload of fence to run, hay to haul, trees to cut, spring projects to finish. And then there's deer season less than two weeks away with trails to bushhog, stands to rehab, plots to manage. The ash bores killed a few hundred trees on our property, so there's always a couple new trees down or waiting to fall on you and kill you. And then we still have to find time to drink and get high and watch porn and fish. So you all are about the first to go. Especially since Partial tried ruining FYI. Someone needs to shoot that kid. How I imagine life @ the Skinbasket family farm...

It ain't too far off. My kids just made 50 cents each spreading winter wheat seed by hand yesterday.

And Harlan, it's not rugged individualism, it's a pain in the ass. The silver lining, however, is that we'll have our own Angus beef next spring and we haven't bought eggs in years. The golden lining is that, for the first time ever, we're going to qualify for some of the hundreds of thousands of dollars of government cash we've had confiscated and stuffed into the pot our entire life. I'll finally get a taste, however small, of how your side gets to live. Of course, I'll be paying for a barn cistern and fence instead of cell phones, wide screen tvs, and used Cadillacs, so it won't be quite the same.

I'm not cut out for real farming. I've seen what that's like, and it's not pretty. True story: My aunt and uncle had a large dairy/corn farm. It smelled bad, and they were always dirty. Then my cousin tried to marry one of his cousins. Stereotypes are always funny because they're mostly true. Also, I still don't like hanging out at the feedmill longer than I have to, which is totally a prerequisite to be a real farmer.

I was raised on a horse farm, and hated it, so it's kind of unlikely I would have returned to any kind of animal husbandry and the shit it involves, but my wife wants cows... so cows. I did already say no to horses, ponies, mini donkeys, pigs, goats and maybe even alpacas, so I had to give in to something. I decided these would have the best benefit.

No, but I know people that do. That's the important part. They fly a lot of helicopters over us out here, for "training" that has nothing to do with the guy across the street just getting out of prison after 12 years, for, in part, growing a few hundred plants. Now that I gave the little greenhouse we had behind the house to a neighbor, they fly a little further.

I spent the last couple days driving halfway across the country and the thought came to me that I need to come up with ideas to get more government cash in my pocket. I always have been against it, but it's time to get some of it. It can't be that difficult.......even for an average white guy like me.

They come and sometimes sadly they go... yet they go.

People come into your life for a reason, a season or lifetime.
you will know what to do for each person.
That person is in your life for a REASON,
People are there for the reason you need them to be.
Sometimes without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time,
this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.

Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away.
Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand.
It is time to move on.

Some people come into your life for a SEASON,
because your turn has come to share, grow or learn.
They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh.
They may teach you something or
give you an unbelievable amount of joy.
But only for a season.

LIFETIME relationships (friendships) teach you lifetime lessons;
things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation.
Love is blind ... friendship is clairvoyant.
You may accept the lesson and enjoy the person,
Put what you have learned to use in other relationships and areas of your life.
