Hope you didn't bet the house.

Too close for comfort. Bad sequence running three times when they had first and goal. That gave Jax life.

Gladly take the win though :five:

pbmax

see...up the middle with Lacy has always been better than stretching it.

They also went left a lot which is behind Taylor. Lacy's long run came behind Lang.

Fun game. Jacksonville will win some games this year. We're now 1-0 on the road. Offense looked pretty good after a slow start. Defense had quite a few 3rd down stops. It's odd to see 5 4th down plays by one team in a game. Odder still for them to get first downs on the first 4. Without that kind of luck ...or skill, the game really wouldn't have been very close. Time to play the Vikings.

Good win. Packers looked a lot better than the Vikings and Bears.

Carolina_Packer
09-11-2016, 03:57 PM
Harv, I second that. As Rodgers said in the post game presser, it's hard to win in the NFL, especially on the road, in the heat without a lot of live game reps in the pre-season. They survived, and advanced. Now they can build on that start.

Joemailman
09-11-2016, 04:01 PM
Any road win is a good win. Win half your road games and you're a playoff team. Plus, I think Jax is pretty good. They could challenge for that division. Their group of receivers is way above average.

You might want to re watch the second half of MIN/TENN.

I didn't see all of the Pack game so not sure how it was down the last play in that game, so to speak.

Seems like Packer offense played well. Defense didn't give up many yards on the ground too.

The team was ragged, but it's just a preseason game that happens to count.

red
09-11-2016, 04:45 PM
i've read a couple of times, and heard during the game that there is no replacement for real gametime together

well, who's at fault for that?

you know, a-rod only playing a handful of downs with everyone else in the preseason?

maybe if a-rod had played with his team mates more this wouldn't have been a 6th preseason game that counted that we almost lost

I watched all of the Vikings, Eagles, and Packers game. I thought the Vikings looked pretty awful until they were gifted two defensive TDs and got the lead. Minnesota is built to play with the lead and Tennessee is not built to play from behind.

The quality of play was much lower than the Packers-Jags game--although it was better than the Eagles-Browns game. The Browns are terrible.

What was the deal with ad today? 19 carries for 30 yards? Titans just load up the box or what?

Nine to ten in the box for the most part.. Vikings offense wasn't too good in the first half, never did get the run game going all game long. They were "gifted" a defensive TD when they got in the QB's face and jumped the dump off. One man's good defensive play is another man's gift, lol.

I'm not saying the Vikings looked great but they moved the ball and shut down the other guys on the road. Their defense was solid when it counted. Similar to last year, give up some yards, not a ton of points.

I agree. I think Jacksonville has real potential to be a playoff team in the AFC. The AFC South certainly is wide open...it isn't like any of the other 3 teams are bona fide title contenders. They have a reasonably stout defense and have some decent playmakers on offense. Going into their place to open the season and come out with a win will look pretty good come November.

Quite honestly, these first two road games may be our hardest two road games of the year.

JAX has a good team this year - their defense is much improved. I'd rather not get a Jordy-type injury in the preseason and win regular season games.

mmmdk
09-12-2016, 12:05 PM
Jaguars are much improved. A win is a win but Jax kinda blew it. Packers looks the same on defense, play calling and in their lack of aggressiveness. Great with Jordy back and AR, Lacy and OL looked pretty good for a week 1 game.
