View Full Version : What is your Sunday Ritual?

When the Packers play on gameday(assuming Sundays) what is your day leading up to the game like? Everybody has theirs but here's mine.

1. Wake up, realize it's gameday, wait for my heart to skip a beat, and then get out of bed.

2. Go down stairs in my shorts and Packer night shirt. Just to add a note it is freakin' hot down in Florida. It is humid as hell, too, yet I still where a shirt to bed when I sleep, even though on normal nights I just sleep in boxers. I sacrifice my body hoping my belief will lead to victory(Wow, did I sound like Jesus there.)

3. Eat Breakfast and watch SportsCenter. Count Chocula with Green and Gold Sprinkles.

4. Go onto Packerrats of course.

5. Are you ready for this? Are you sure you're ready for this? Ok, I give a pep talk to my jersey. I know I'm a wacko. I lay my jersey out on my bed and tell it what we need to do today and then I go "On 3... 1, 2, 3, PACK! Sometimes I think I'm related to a crazy person. Like Tom Cruise or Mahmoud Ahmadinejad or something.

6. Watch Sunday NFL Countdown, Fantasy Team, play Madden, throw football outside, whatever I can do to pass time. And then.....

7. Get to the game and root like crazy.

So what's yours?

Sweet, that was my 1,000th post. I'd like to thank everybody for helping me reach this achievement. My Keyboard, my lack of discipline to do my Homework until 10:00 at night, and all my fellow posters. Here's to 2,000.

congrats on 1k, ballhawk!

BTW, I must have missed the part where you drink or smoke something before giving a pep talk to your jerseys

Hawk, I can't say I have an actual ritual other than fretting like heck from wakeup time to game time - but I enjoyed yours and don't apologize for sounding wacko, heck half of us are and we just figure that's normal. You have a vg ritual for helping the time pass more quickly, enjoy the game Sunday and we'll all be back here after that sounding off at the good and the bad, whatever it may be!

Sorry GB, I forgot to mention I have my Count Chocula with some Bourbon. Ghost shaped Marshmellows and a John Collins. YUM!

After reading the Sunday paper, I will don appropriate Packer shirts/sweatshirts/raingear and head over to a Buddy's place to watch the game. He has a big-screen TV. Several ex-Wisconsinite Packer fans join us there.

If the game is not locally televised, we head to Portland's Corbet Fish House owned by a former Green Bay resident. The small family restaurant is usually filled with about 40 Packer fans, most of them ex-Wisconsinites. It feels like "Going Home" but without the mosquitos, the humidity, and the bitterly cold weather.

wAKE UP IN THE morning and get the boys fired up for the game while eating breakfast, talking about the teams opponent and their strengths and weaknesses. Church by 8am, than home by 9 to catch the pregame show on TMJ or the Fan. Than watch some ESPN while the radio is still on and than start playing indoor football with my two sons. While playing, usually around 11, put on our Packer music mix(Bang on the drum all day, Rock N Roll 2, taking care of buisness, Hells Bells intro into Start me up and concluding with twilight zone). get a few bites to eat, put the surround sound on, put Wayne and Larry on and play catch with the boys while the game is ready to start. Once the game starts, the wife runs upstairs cause I get way to intense and the cheers or jeers start a flyin. Can't wait till Sunday or even tomorrow night!

This Sunday my wife and step son are going to a Lincon Park Zoo while I watch the Packers. I will have the TV all to myself. I will be rooting for the PACK!!

Saturday I am going to watch #1 Ohio State and #3 Texas. My wife and step son are going to a indoor WaterPark. I will be watching that game all to myself!

We are probably going to have the same ritual every week!

Well this year will be different since I now have a 6 month old. SO it will go like this on Sunday:

Wake up around 6am bring the munchkin into bed with the wife and I so he can eat and I will sleep

8:30am Go downstairs and get munchkin cereal ready for him and feed him.

8:45 clean up the little guy and put him in his Packer gear if we are the first game or the only one on that day. If the Vikings are on first the wife has to dress him I just cant do it.

(sidebar: we have an agreement since she is a Queen fan and I am a Fan of God's Team we split the time the little guy spends wearing team clothes. If they are on seperate time he wears the team apparel for the game that is on. If we are on seperate days he wears the outfit ALL day. If they are on the same time then he is in generic football stuff.)

9:00 am Eat myself

9:30 go back to bed

10:30 set fantasy lineups

11:00 watch pregame

12:00 watch the early games and fantasy stuff

2:50 grab Beer and refreshments to resupply the coffe table

3:00 GO CRAZY when Favre rusn the no huddle and throws a 45 yard laser to Jennings and the Pack go up on the Teddy Bears en route to a 24 to 10 ass kicking!

7:00 pass out...

well...

i usually wake up and smoke a small bowl (hey, as if ya didnt know!)... relax a bit on the couch and pre-empt to my girlfriend that yes, it's sunday again, my only day off and you'll be receiving very little attention until after the game. sorry bubs.

eagerly wait until noon (as if smoking before noon is oK! ;)) and crack open a beer from the fridge. try to pound it and get another one down before i head out the door to the sports bar if the packers arent on locally. save some money, yanno.

try to get my buddies fired up about the game but they're big saturday-night-ers so that's a bit tough, usually wait too long and have to leave someone behind so i dont miss the kick off.

get there, take potshots from the non packer fans in the bar, har har it up a bit, order a beer and sit there quietly praying to the packer god that favre tares it up today.

obviously my routine was different in wisconsin but hey, that's that.

It's O.K. to smoke that early if it's Sunday. It's the day of rest, and 'so what' if you want to take part in a little Peace Pipe ritual. I find it quite spiritual. Being stoned puts you in a state of peace and happiness before you witness these ritual games. Watch as these athletes compete in what is a symbol of the age old struggle between groups of men to impose their will upon the other. Through them, we see the best and worst of human character, that comes to the forefront through adversity and the will to succeed. What better way to experience this than with a little chemical enhancement? Alcohol is good too, I guess.

How is this possible?

If you really can do this, you should be making millions in the porn industry.

Case in point: Ron Jeremy. He was able to do that, and look how successful he became.

'cause you wouldn't need a wife then?

You should really leave the children alone Tony. That's just wrong.
