Prisco:

Don't really have a strong opinion of this guy other than to say Guion might be history. Could be a boom or bust pick.

Dude has talent; takes plays off. We'll see; at worst he should be a rotation guy

So he's ok with us having an underwhelming, at best, pass rush. Ok, makes sense. Sometimes it really amazes me that this team is in the playoffs every year.

he didn't say how much o, just that there would be some.

NFL.com on Adams:

OVERVIEW
The former national top-five defensive tackle high school recruit reached his potential in 2016, earning second-team all-conference honors (8.5 TFL, 4.5 sacks). Adams was a three-year starter after contributing as a true freshman (20 tackles, sack), lining up with the ones in 2014 (8.0 TFL, three sacks, INT) and earning third-team All-SEC honors as a junior (three TFL, 2.5 sacks).
ANALYSIS
STRENGTHS Low out of his stance and with good explosiveness. Springs into gaps to stress guards and split double teams. Usually first into neutral zone. Disruptive when working the gaps. Burly lower half with good thickness through his hips and thighs. Powerful leg drive pushes him through blocker's shoulder and into the backfield. Motor seemed to be revved more consistently in 2016 than in 2015. Pursues from backside with hustle. Has some bull rush potential if he keeps pads low.
WEAKNESSES Strikes head first with eyes down losing sight of the play. Doesn't utilize hands well enough to keep himself clean. Needs to improve punch and extension to add value as a two-gap tackle. Sticks on blocks and labors to disengage. Short stepper with limited lateral effectiveness as pass rusher. Active as rusher but fails to stress the edge often enough. Has carried label as underachiever at times. Has talent but needs to more consistently play to it.
DRAFT PROJECTION Rounds 2-3
NFL COMPARISON Jay Bromley
BOTTOM LINE Adams disappointed the scouting community with a pedestrian junior season that lacked passion and production. This season, he played with greater consistency of effort and found his way into the backfield far more often. Can be disruptive off the snap but is not the type of player to recover quickly if beaten early in the rep. He is a rotational defensive tackle for gap-attack defenses, but is unlikely to offer much as a pass rusher.

Good to know the slow leak in your head has stopped. Was listening to draft in car and after description and college, I said:

Next Nick Collins!

Only a safety from UConn might allow for a closer parallel: Obi Melifonwu - S - Connecticut

Gut feeling for me. Like the King pick. Okay with the Jones pick. Don't really like the Adams pick. Athletic, but underachieving DL with high pad level seldom seem to work out. I'm leaning towards the Oklahoma RB next.

I didn't like TT's pick in Rd. 3. That looked to me to be a hope and a prayer pick. Maybe TT liked his speed? The Packers need more NOWS and not three years down the road.

I'm on the Samaje Perine bandwagon. The Packers do need a real RB.

After the trade King had to be the pick
I'm ok with Jones but I'd have preferred 3-5 guys over him
TIme will tell with Adams. Seems like he has immense talent but is lazy. Probably not the type of guy I'd draft

OLB Samson Ebukam, Eastern Washington

Go get him TT. He's an athlete who is just scratching the surface.

STRENGTHS Explosive athlete with a background in basketball, javelin and shot-put in high school. Triggers out of his stance with quick-twitch as a rusher. Attacks the edge with plus burst and has the desire to keep working when he gets punched and controlled early. Wowed teams with a vertical leap of 39 inches and a sub 4.5 forty yard dash at his pro day. Plays with a suddenness when crashing down the line after ball carriers. Drawn to the play like a magnet. Lauded for intelligence and work ethic. Initial quickness creates disruption in run game. Chalked up 15 tackles for loss and two forced fumbles in 2016. Rangy with a willingness to pursue way down the field.

Question for everyone. If I said you could have one of these backs, which one would you take?

Samaje Perine, OK

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0-hxd55alKE

A bowling ball that will wear out a defense and even has a little shake. No fun to tackle.

Marlon Mack, USF

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nEEweKyYcDA

A little Reggie Bush/Shady McCoy in him?

I know they are different styles, but who would you take and why?

Joemailman
04-28-2017, 11:20 PM
I think this team needs more speed on offense, so I'd go with Mack. I see Perrine as Eddie Lacy without the quick feet. Decent big back, but not special.

Smidgeon
04-28-2017, 11:31 PM
I want whomever has the better vision. Lacy was the first RB in a while who could read rushing lanes really well. I want more of that and less of running into their own guys.

Carolina_Packer
04-28-2017, 11:43 PM
Mack just looks like he explodes to the second level, and has shake/juke when a defender is trying to get in a position to tackle him which creates separation and then he shows his explosiveness. Also, if he can catch the ball out of the back field, he would be dangerous in the open field.

VegasPackFan
04-28-2017, 11:57 PM
I want Perine. We need a good power guy like him. He's really strong and has good burst. If the ankle is in good shape, I think he'll be even more explosive than his last college year tape shows. Good pairing with Ty.

Also: Perine reminds me of Michael Turner. YESSSS

That's a pretty good comp. I'm not usually high on RBs that don't run a good 40 -- unless they have special traits elsewhere (e.g. Lacy with his power but quick feet), but this guy is relatively impressive. He has a lot of mileage on him though, doesn't he?

BZnDallas
04-29-2017, 02:30 AM
Perine looks like he has football speed. He's no burner, but he looks to have enough speed to make a go in the league. And he doesn't look like a cheeseburger is gonna put him over the top either. I think he could be a better Eddie Lacy. He could be the thunder to Montys lightning. (Have we had a thunder/lightning reference recently?)

Perine with early 4th and Beigel with the later 4th?
