Well, he was my surprise waiver. I was kinda close. I am guessing a sixth round pick.

That is a pretty misleading statement. Price claim on waivers didn't have anything to do with the Elliot traded.

In swapping Jayrone Elliott for Chris Odom, #Packers beefed up edge of their D front. Odom (262) is 10 pounds heavier, much stronger.
ALL offseason, people kept braying about how shorthanded the Packers were leaving themselves at OLB. That Elliot and Fackrell would need to make a huge jump for the OLB to be as strong as they were last year.
So after camp, after HolyFackrell and Elliot both failed to make that jump, Thompson signs Ahmad Brooks and claims Odom from Atlanta. It costs him Elliot, because they need the roster spot AND Elliot might be unavailable due to back issues.
So the public verdict? Thompson erred in giving away a core special team player.

The Green Bay Packers are adding a rookie edge rusher on Sunday.
According to Jason Wilde of ESPN, the Packers have claimed former Atlanta Falcons defensive end Chris Odom:
Here is more on Newly acquired Packer OLB Chris Odom. Odom (6-4, 256) was signed by the Falcons as an undrafted free agent in May.
" Odom was productive during his first NFL preseason, tallying 17 tackles, two sacks and a pass deflection over four games. He was particularly impressive in the Falcons’ preseason finale against the Jaguars (eight tackles, sack). "
