This game is lost. Time to put the second stringers out there.

I think they all already are.

The second stringers are on IR. The third stringers got hurt in this game. Any more injuries and they'll have to have guys playing both ways.

mraynrand

The secondary is just as ragged as the offensive line.

ya, way down in the depth chart. 5,6, and 7 deep playing.

In 2013 I watched the games but it wasn't the same. With Rodgers you can recover from the litany of injuries and still be 4-1. Without... well. Who knows.

Da Bears are going to win (it's now 24-13 Chicago) and it looks like Atlanta may lose vs the worst 'O' in the NFL the Miami Dolphins up 20-17 with about 2.5 minutes left in the 4th Qtr.

Throwing some out I imagine, especially as the O line got decimated.IMO they would have been better off to just let Hundley free lance it, draw up plays on the ground. It made no sense to have Hundley take a standard drop back every pass play when he had no time. He should have allowed Hundley to run it too. It's almost like once Arod got hurt, Stubby just said "Next man up." That ain't gonna work for a QB.

probably. Put his weight into the guy. Been a while since Clay got a guy like that.

T. Bradshaw is saying Barr couldn't prevent it. That's pretty much wrong.

That's just the standard Viking commentary. They always say Rodgers complains a lot and is pampered. They always say the Packers get all the calls. They always say the NFL is out to get them. Just ignore it.

I revel in it. I hope it's true, but probably not.

To be honest, and I sincerely mean this, that guy pisses and moans EVERY FUCKING TIME HE GETS HIT. If you brush up against him he feels like it's a cheap shot so I would't use that as a judge on a hits legality...

You only feel this way because you're biased. Most times he does the Favre bit, pats guys on the head for a good lick. Rodgers was just pissed because he knew what it felt like to break a collar bone and knew he'd done it again.

Barr had eyes on Rodgers and clearly saw the ball released. Then lowered his head and tackled. I'll look for some Clay sacks to see if I can find something similar.

Literally every single thing that could go wrong today did.

A terrible day.

Realistically maybe a whole lot worse and Packer Nation than many Packer fans will have the vision to realize.

This loss and Aaron Rodgers may be a worse case scenario. I have a really bad taste in my mouth.

There wa no penalty called.

Rodgers was outside of the Pocket...end of story.

It's all now and Aaron's recovery , whenever, and when will he be seriously injured again?

I really think that this game is very bad news and being a Green Bay Packer fan and Rodgers and Hope for another Super Bowl.

Realistically this is VERY BAD ! I feel terrible for Aaron Rodgers. He was NFL 2017-18 Season MVP bound. By far the Leader and that.

Now I have that deep sucked out feeling you get when someone got that good shot into your guts.

This day and NFL and......what anyone might deem as 'reality' is clearly to use the best term:

Fucked !

I'm now weighing in on the early results and the late Sunday afternoon games and Week 6.

It seems like if your favoured to win the game today....your going to more likely lose !

Today and LIFE and the best predictor is simply think ..... backwards...think negative...think poorly...think stupid...think wrong.

We live in an upside down world.

Logic makes 'NO SENSE'. Evil Rules. Stupidity Rules.

All of that has been clearly predicted as will be the case and that is right now.

The Packers and NFL and Football hardly really matters.

So simply eat your Upside Down cake and smile and bear it if your right in your HEART and SOUL

Don't get FUCKED !

Absolutely ! :glug:

The hope and this Season and we had some is done !

This season now falls all on TT and MM and the Position Coaches and the rest of the Staff.

We need competent 'Critical Analysis' as Packer fans. We need forward thinking (if the Packers look really bad) as this Season plays out.

I really feel looking at TT that he looks absolutely worn out. He and MM exist as a two and that Two will as I clearly see it; look bad after Aaron Rodgers.

That is often how collar bones are broken.

Broken Collarbone !?... If that is the TRUTH.....Patler as usual would then be right.

It's not official. Hope !

I am surprised unlike Patler that it was his shoulder. It looked like a right wrist to me after reviewing the play.

By the way in 9 games without Aaron Rodgers the Packers have a 3 - 5 -1 Record.

It was an easy call for me. I have seen numerous broken collar bones in hockey, including to one of my sons, caused the same way. As explained by an ortho to me, with an extended arm jammed the way it was, the force is transmitted to the collar bone, which can break quite easily.

He should have just taken the hit, extending his arm to break the fall probably made it worse in this case.

Of course, you don't know how the defender is going to twist or hold.

I agree.

When you know you only have about a 20% chance of winning with Rodgers in there your best chance is to knock him out of the game. Even if Barr had gone too far it's worth it. It might mean the Division and the playoffs.

The Saints made damn sure to maul the QB in 2009. The alternative is no Super Bowl. What's that worth? Barr got the best of both, he took Rodgers out and stayed 'within the rules'. Very smart. I hope the Packers return the favor next time they play.

Shitty assed example. Favre was hit in the pocket after the play and I mean WAY the fuck after the play. Barr hit your man on a routine play, no flag. When he hit him and I bet the majority of people were not "oh, what a late hit"...it looked routine as hell to me...

Ya, it looked routine as hell to me, too; but in today's NFL routine hits on QBs are also routinely flagged. I don't think that type of hit should be a penalty, but I am surprised that it was not flagged, because it usually is now days.

Either way, they worked. If you can do it legally, all the better. Still, in the NFCC, the refs weren't calling (any?) late hits, so they (mostly) must have been legal. It was a smart play to drive Rodgers into the ground. May have won them the Division. I just hope the Packers take out a couple guys next time they play. Legally.

Dude, he did NOT drive him into the ground. I've watched the league for forty fucking years and that was routine. He did not do the drive into the ground thing. I've seen that a million times and this was not it.

The tackle on Aaron Rodgers was clean clean ..it was clearly clean.

There was no leading with the helmet and any or severe helmet contact either. Aaron Rodgers was plainly and simply tackled and wasn't driven to the ground.

How anyone could look at the replay of the tackle that ended Aaron Rodgers Season and maybe even threatening to his career success; isn't looking at it with an open mind.

Aaron was vulnerable (out of the QB's Pocket) and the worst case scenario resulted.

I saw the replay again after my post and I see exactly what your saying and the transmission of force from the hand >>> up the arm to >>> the shoulder and collarbone.

I even saw a flashback (in my memory) and the first time this happened to Aaron Rodgers.

Same side of the field and about the same distance out of the pocket and maybe at a greater angle to the LOS.

Lightning striking twice. Really bad news for The Green Bay Packers and Packer Nation. This one sucks so bad as Aaron's time is closing to it's end after this specific re-occurrence. This one really has to be hurting so many and REALLY PACKERS.

I disagree. He engaged his core and bent slightly forward as he made the hit, continuing to drive his feet. You could look at it and say he was following through on a tackle but there was no reason to follow through there.

Patler
10-15-2017, 09:02 PM
If he was trying to drive him into the ground, it would have been a lot more violent than it was. Of course he was attempting to follow through on the tackle, that's what defenders do, given the opportunity. As I wrote before, I was surprised there was no flag, but I'm not offended that there wasn't.

A few years ago the consideration used to be that after the QB threw if a defender could hold up or lessen the blow, he had to. That became difficult to determine when QBs were on the run and a defender was running at full speed to get there. In response the league limited the protections after a QB leaves the pocket. I think that is where this play ended up. In the pocket, it would have been a penalty. With Rodgers on the run, not so clear.

10-15-2017, 09:23 PM
He gave him a solid hit and landed on him with force. I think that's uncontroversial.

I think he knew the ball had been released, could have let up, but didn't. He got in a good hard legal hit and KOed Rodgers. Sucks to be us.

If that tackle was even 1-2 seconds later maybe Packer fans have a complaint.

As it went down...NO and having any positive impact as the NFL does see it now and 'out of the pocket 'contact with the QB after a pass.

This is really the bottom line. The rest is just an exercise in semantic analysis about how much force is needed to constitute "driving" and the connotations that word carries in our personal experiences.
