pbmax

Considering Brees is 39...

Yeah.

But also because I get that Bostick wanted to catch the ball. Why did the safety not want to tackle the WR?

And right on cue Jimmy Johnson comes up with a plausible reason: deep safety did not want to have an interference because it was the only way the Vikes would be able to get the kick off. So he ducked to avoid a penalty.

hey, I have a friend who is a New Orleans fan and I need some advice on what to tell him tomorrow. Can the constitutive complainers here (Red, Woodcock, Runt, Yeti, etc. ) tell me which essential football rules New Orleans violated that Minnesota followed and who all should be fired? And I don't want to hear anything about refs and lucky catches because they don't count for the Packers. Why is New Orleans OK with wasting a great talent like Brees by allowing a marginal coach like Payton to remain there? Heads need to roll!

The playoffs seem to bring about the 'crazy' plays.

Super bowl helmet catches, Wilsons INT on the goal line, Aaron's multiple hail Mary's, Bostick, etc, etc.

Not trying to take away the win from the Vikes. It was improbable and crazy. But there have been at least 10-12 of those in games that were as or of greater importance.

That’s what I don’t get with Jimmy Johnson’s explanation. 43 had the play right in front of him. Just slow down. There was never a reason to worry about dpi. The play was right in front of him.

He was already closing on him as he might normally. Then he realizes he might get there an instant too soon. So he ducks and goes for the less obvious interference by taking out his legs.

He also could have been trying to plant him in the turf rather than wrestle an airborne player to the turf without getting near the sideline. Risky, but I could sort of see it.

Not a good play, but I definitely think he was trying something out of the ordinary. Haven't see the rookie play much but I doubt that is his normal tackling style.

I still don't get what with 10 seconds left the d-backs don't just hold like crazy if they let anyone past them. At worst they get a five yard penalty and an untimed down. Same with interference on anything short. Then there's no choice but to throw the hail mary - no chance for a FG.

Defensive holding wouldn't have been the worst thing to do but couldn't interference put them in FG range and even if there was no time left on the clock there would still have been an untimed down for MN to kick it?

mraynrand

Still the rule is to be more aggressive because refs don’t want to decide games. Belichickism.

The New England Patriots listed Brady as questionable to play against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Sunday's AFC Championship Game because of a hand injury.

A source close to the situation told NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport that Brady suffered a cut to his right thumb during Wednesday's practice. The cut was gushing blood and required stitches, per Rapoport.

After not practicing Thursday, Brady was limited Friday. A source told Rapoport that Brady was "zinging it pretty good" during the session.

Brady wouldn't talk about the injury during Friday's news conference, giving only short, clipped answers about his status. The Patriots quarterback mostly vacillated between "I'm not talking about it" (when asked about his hand), and "we'll see" (when queried about his status). Brady also wore gloves on both hands during the entire media session.

Not sure if Brady ever plays with a glove. A cut that required stitches has to be protected. I'm sure he'll start, but a problem with a thumb can make throwing more difficult.

Brady no glove, partial love. FG on first drive where they went down the field in small chunks with one 4th down conversion.

Hard to say if affecting him, didn't look like it on throws or handoff. Romo said he thought it was more shotgun than normal, but its early.

Jags got to Brady just once.

getting 'your bell rung" is the old school way of saying you just got a severe brain injury

so yeah, it is

and i think we'll start seeing it used more as a tactic. we saw it happen with adams twice this year. if you only get a 15 yard penalty for knocking the top weapon of the other team out of the game, thats a pretty nice trade off

On that first down run, the Patriots motioned someone and the edge defender reduced his gap and was inside the tackle's should, meaning he could be hooked inside unless he defeats the Tackle immediately.

We have seen this happen to Perry and Matthews. This wasn't an accident, it was by design for both offense and defense.

Which means an inside player, safety or ILB was supposed to get to the edge. Only the corner did, who took out a blocker.

Its all a numbers game on the outside.

Patriots sure had tough road to Super Bowl again

Remember this back in September?

http://www.nbcsports.com/philadelphia/philadelphia-eagles/mike-lombardi-i-think-i-know-what-good-coach-looks

Mike Lombardi, who recently created a stir with strong criticism of Doug Pederson, defended and explained his comments Tuesday.

Lombardi, a former NFL executive who has worked for the Patriots, 49ers, Browns, Raiders and Eagles, ripped Pederson's qualifications to be a head coach.

"Now, everybody knows Pederson isn't a head coach," Lombardi, now with The Ringer, said. "He might be less qualified to coach a team than anyone I've seen in my 30-plus years in the NFL. Pederson was barely a coordinator before he became a head coach!"

So, what was behind the remarks?

"I just voiced an opinion — it's not a hot take by no means," Lombardi said on CSN's Tuesday edition of Philly Sports Talk. "I've studied the Eagles, I've studied the NFL for 35 years, I've been to four Super Bowls, I've won three. I've been around Bill Walsh, I've been around Bill Belichick, I've been around Al Davis — I think I know what a good coach looks like. I just don't see Doug being able to be ready for the job that they [have] given him, and I think that's the challenge."

Absolutely. Bill Belichick makes that half time adjustment every time.

If your not up by at least 10 Points at the half your in deep trouble.

What can you say about the addition of James Harrison and what he gave to the NE Defense!? That addition was a key to the win. Belichick makes a Man really believe and gives new life and inspiration to a player. It's suddenly a real chance and Super Bowl with Belichick and Brady.

Down 10 Points with what?... 9-10 Minutes to go and Danny Amendola is told. " Your going to be the Man."

Every game it's someone different to lead. You cannot invent that stuff without "Genius and Coaching"; and knowing how and when to bring in new talent. Of course, it sure helps to have a QB with the awesome talent and competitive Spirit of Tom Brady.

It's incredible to love football and see and truly appreciate all that The New England Patriots brings to the NFL game.

Ohh by the way:
