I expect he will re-sign with GB for about half the cap hit he would have had. This is much like the AJ Hawk situation a few years ago. He was released and re-assigned just a couple days later to avoid a roster bonus. Nelson's is more about salary, but he also has a modest roster bonus, I think.

He's not coming back. GM released a statement thanking him and wishing him the best in the future. Said he will be in the packers hall of fame one day blah blah blah.
