That was a smart Rule.

Better the next up Picker than the Packerrat that picked last; as long as the Pick is seriously close to what it should be.

As I see it so far our Mock is really decent. This is a challenging exercise.

Maybe? ... the Buffalo Bills at NO. 22 might have been the sixth QB off the Board and QB Prospect Mason Rudolph Oklahoma State - 6'4" and 235 lbs?

I saw options with my Pick, and even when I decided on the Position Pick; I tossed around which CB was NO. 2 for the New Orleans Saints Pick at NO. 27?

Is the deadline the time listed before our pick?

Yes. And glad you posted.

I put most posters in original order but ...

Yeti got moved later because the draft order somehow changed by one team, so I moved Yeti down (whose original team was the one out of order) and then placed them in the open spot later.

Yoop, Harv and Cheesehead Craig got shuffled to keep them with original teams.

So not everything is exactly the same as first round.

Browns needs: QB, RB, CB, OLine (especially tackle), WR (Gordon still has to worry them), rotation DT

They took care of QB and RB with the first two picks. Six lineman, more than expected off the board. 4 CBs are gone plus the super slot guys. Browns need an outside CB in a big way and if they don't take Barkley, they probably grab a corner at #4 or with a trade down.

But there is one guy left who they have a first round grade on who can play press and might be OK in zone.

With the 33rd selection in the 2018 NFL Common Draft, the Cleveland Browns take Mike Hughes, CB, UCF.

Giants look at their board and are pleased to see that need matches up with BPA for them at this point in the draft. Are they fooling themselves and adding value to players that isn't there? They don't think so!

Taking the best blocker available makes a lot of sense, and that could be Isaiah Wynn, OG Georgia, 6'2" 308lbs. He played tackle in college, but projects at guard where his 'short' arms (33") won't be a factor. He's a road grader of a run blocker who is also agile in space. At Georgia last year he saw college competition at the highest level, with one of their two loses coming in overtime in the National Championship game!

Giants just have to hope this solid prospect isn't a case of a rising tide floating all boats.

With the 34th pick of the 2018 NFL draft, the Giants select Isaiah Wynn, OG Georgia, 6'2" 308lbs

Yeah, there was some weirdness with draft order plus Denver that moved everything around oddly. Possible I missed it. Tried to balance out same pick order AND keep same teams.

I will PM CC for you to see of he can/wants to switch. But wait until we hear back before we commit.

The Colts made a best player available pick with the selection of Ward at cornerback. It wasn't exactly a need pick but no matter the team a guy with Ward's potential makes any defense better. The Colts need to get better on the defensive front seven, but none of the top flight defenders dropped to the second round. The Colts have holes and they can afford to go with the best player available but they don't want to miss out again on front 7 player, so they reach and select Josh Sweat, DE FSU.

JSweat is a speed rusher that will come off the edge. On Paper he is a good fit for their new 4-3 upfield attack style defense. He did have some significant knee trouble at the end of high school where they feared he might lose his leg. He fully recovered from that injury but did have some meniscus issues in college. The knee might be enough for teams to go a different direction but he has the most potential as a pass rusher at this point in the draft. Sweat is very good at keep leverage in the run game. He is not that heavy at 250 pounds but he stays low as he comes off the ball and this all helps his balance and his ability to cut the edge on his pass rush towards the quarterback.

Hilarious - I saw half a dozen players around the same ranking for the Giants pick and based on need whittled it down to 3 players, Miller and Price were the other 2!

Damn !

The Packerrats are treating the Cleveland Brown at least as good as they might treat themselves next week.

I have OT Colton Miller as the NO. 2 OT in this Draft.

This is an outstanding Value Pick for Cleveland at NO. 35 Overall.

Isaiah Wynn Georgia in the NO. 34 Overall slot and NY GIANTS Pick is also solid. I have him as the NO. 2 OG in this Draft and ahead of OG's Will Hernandez, UTEP and Braden Smith, Auburn.

I was wondering if RB Derrius Guice, LSU might come off the Board for this Round TWO New York GIANTS Pick. Now he might be a strong consideration for Tampa Bay at Pick NO. 38 Overall.

Packerrats is by far and overall nailing this Draft.

In my head they are Central. But Guiness and others might be on Eastern.

But for the purposes of this draft, the times listed are Central (head canon).

Just got a dinner request from 10 to midnight. Thinking fuck that is late. Didn’t realize it was Pacific Coast time and Central time on my calendar. That would have cut prime poker time out of my next Vegas trip.

You can ask Nutz here in the thread (or PM him), there are no conditions on whose opinion you put stock in.

But your pick (and maybe Justin's) needs to be up by 9 AM tomorrow. Otherwise its harvey's job to select for the previous 2 before his Bears pick.

Technically, you could wake up tomorrow expecting to pick for 2 and see Justin snuck in at 2 AM with his pick. But anytime after 11 PM, its your call. Until 9 AM.

Colts select James Washington WR Oklahoma St. receiver isn't the biggest need for the Colts, but they do have a need at the position and another target will give Luck options when he returns to the field. Washington is a solid built receiver that has caught a lot of balls for r the Cowboys. He demonstrates consistency and the ability to run underneath the deep ball.

With no 3rd round pick, the Bucs know that they have to get a starter with their round 2 pick.

The Bucs had a dream of using both of their picks to help their woeful secondary. After hitting a home run with Derwin James in the first round, they looked to get a CB with their 2nd round pick. However that dream turned into a nightmare as they watched shell shocked as the run on CBs started with the Saints at pick #27 as 5 of the next 7 picks were CBs. There was not a prospect left that was worthy of taking at this point.

Then plan B or G(uard) was also destroyed as they saw Dallas inexplicably take Hernandez at 19 and they knew that they were in trouble for Wynn and sure enough, he was taken just 3 picks before them by the Giants at 34.

That left their last need which fortunately is the deepest position in the draft, RB. Given they knew they were not getting Barkley they focused on the next tier of backs. The one that stood out to them the most was Derrius Guice out of LSU. Given he was the only real threat on LSU, the fact that he produced at such a high level was very impressive. He posted a solid 40 time and performed excellent at the combine. In watching the tape, they loved his physical style of running. With their offensive line issues, they don't need someone who will dance around but plant a foot and attack and be able to break tackles. That fits him to a tee. His violent running style compares to Marshawn Lynch, so good luck trying to arm tackle him. He has the speed and vision to break off huge chunks of yards. His pass catching is solid and is decent in pass protection. He's a 3 down back and that is what the team desperately needs. He played behind Fournette and only has one year of starting under him, so his mileage is lower than the usual back coming out of college.

The creamsicles are happy to select Derrius Guice, RB - LSU.

I sent a pm to Harv to let him know he's on the clock.

Derek Carr was battered from pillar to post last year. It got so bad, there was rumor the OL let him get hit repeatedly in one game as a result of his view on the anthem protests. Not good.

esoxx's next Pick @ NO. 42 is interesting to me, because I'm seeing a situation developing that supports my idea that the Packers will not necessarily need to go PASS RUSH at Pick NO. 14.

The more I look at this it seems to me that Green Bay will trade down from NO. 14.

You use the Rule Of Thumb and Drafting - " Inside Out and Front to Back " thus trading down and going Pass Rush makes sense and that too to take pressure off what may be again this Season a poor Secondary.

After that the Packers need solid additions at WR and CB. They need to address the RHS of their OL. They need some upgrade and speed at Linebacker.

HOODY GENIUS NEEDS TO RESHAPE THIS DEFENSE; IT NEEDS PLAYMAKERS....WITH ATHLETIC ABILTY AND UPSIDE. AND HOODY DOES NOT FEAR A GAMBLE.

Hoody in intrigued up a high upside guy, who coming out of High School was the #2 rated player in the country.

This player often plays the game at a different speed and flashed stretches of dominant play over the last few seasons. At times, he looked to be the best defensive player on the field on a loaded defense. At other times he was not consistent and looked too raw to garner a first round grade. But he has first round talent. The flashes and athletic ability are there.

During his four-year career he recorded 166 tackles 21.5 tackles for loss and 14 sacks. He was named to the All-SEC Second Team after registering 62 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks.

He played with increased toughness and confidence this year and his NFL potential began to reassert itself once again. He absolutely wrecked the Combine in just about every category and could be an outside linebacker in a 3-4 or 4-3 with sideline-to-sideline range and the tools to become a productive edge rusher in sub-packages. He needs to add more bulk, but the talent and upside are clearly there for Hoody Genius to bring out

Run the poll through the night, post the Packer pick in the morning and I'll submit mine shortly after. Woody, you're next, you promise to keep quiet if I take an hour or so, right?

I think that will work. I also think you should post the winner of the poll as the Packers' pick as soon as you pop up in the AM.

Joe, will you be around to set the poll up at 7 PM today or thereabouts?

We'll let it run through the night, guin can post the winner when he gets in on Sunday. If you are logged in and posting, I think woodbuck can hold for a brief time before running his Cardinals pick up to the Commish.

The Washington Redskins, with their 27th ranked rushing offense in 2017, are happy to draft Ronald Jones, RB, USC.

I like that Pick for the Redskins as they do need help at the RB Position but for some reason I'm seeing Draft analysts are missing that and are posting their NEED at: CB; DL; LB; OL and QB.

http://www.redskins.com/team/depth-chart.html

RB Depth Chart has it as: (1.) Samaje Perine (2017 Rookie) (2.) LeShun Daniels (3.) Kapri Bibbs

Samaje Perine's 2017 Statistics:

Not shocked you're here old man!

With the 45th pick of the 2018 NFL Draft, the Green Bay Packers select Carlton Davis, CB, Auburn

Some team sources are lower on Davis and have him as a second-rounder, while others think he should go late in the first. I agree with the latter as Davis has a good skill set and three years of starting experience playing well against good competition. I think Davis is worthy of a late first-round pick.

At the combine, Davis put up a solid 40 time for a big corner, 4.53 seconds. However, he didn't perform as well in the field drills, which further illustrates that he fits best as a press-man corner. In 2017, Davis totaled 36 tackles, 11 passes broken up and an interception. The 6-foot-1, 195-pounder is a good corner with size, speed and length. Davis does a nice job of battling big wideouts as he is a physical defender who really competes. Like many big corners, Davis can have issues with coverage downfield and deep speed. He also has eye-discipline issues and average ball skills.

Some scouts believe Davis could end up being a first-round pick, but others aren't as high on him. The sources who like Davis say he is a tall, loose, long, and very disruptive at the top of the route. Cornerbacks with his skill set and coverage skills are always in demand. Davis shows nice technique to jam receivers and use his length to cover them. He has the potential to improve in the NFL due to being an athlete with upside.

A strangely familiar figure approaches the podium with Cincinnati's pick.

The Bengals have watched a few players they hoped would fall go off the board in the last few picks. Billy Price, Lorenzo Carter, Sony Micheal...they're at odds. They are thinking Ronnie Harrison, but know that isn`t the right way to go. Looking down, they see a piece of paper on the floor, dropped just a minute ago by some unknown soul. Picking it up and reading it, a light dawns...

With the 46th pick of the 2018 NFL draft, the Cincinnati Bengals pick Hayden Hurst, TE, South Carolina

Hurst was definitely a situation of seeing a player I felt was a much better prospect than anyone else on the board at that moment. He`s devalued by his position. Eifert is still young but availability has been more than a bit of a problem the past 2 seasons (2 games last year, 8 the year before that) so there is a need. With Tyler Croft on the roster Eifert could be trade bait/salary cap casulty if Hurst looks good in camp.

Question for you Woody - why Reid over Harrison?

Question for you Woody - why Reid over Harrison?

I do a load of work when I consider a Draft Pick>

See Thread: Packers 2nd Round Mock Draft Packers Pick Poll and SEE Posts:

#7; #11; #15;# 18; #20; #21 and #28.

In a nutshell Safety was a need for the Arizona Cardinals and at Pick NO. 47 you need to look very carefully at the Guy Posted as the TOP 21st Overall Draft Prospect and Ranked there by NFL.Com's Grade Evaluation.

That came right off the TOP.

I saw that Justin Reid was missing from the Packerrat POLL and I assumed that was because even though many Experts deem him as the TOP DB in this Draft he's a Safety and not a CB.

I studied all I could find and Justin Reid VS Safety Prospect Ronnie Harrison. I like DRAFTTEK for some of my DRAFT Analysis and actually there Harrison is slotted in just ahead of Justin Reid and that in spite of having an inferior DRAFT GRADE but Harrisonjust too a fall on their Board. and Reid a slight rise.

I shoved the Puter analysis to the side and look at the Measurables and Tape and Evaluations. I do this every year now for the past decade and a half.

Justin Reid was GRADED = 6.06 Vs Ronnie Harrison = 5.83 NOTE: Safety Jessie Bates, WAKE FOREST is GRADED slightly higher than Ronnie Harrison.

Sources Tell Us (RE: S Ronnie Harrison)

"He's one of the most overrated guys at safety to me. He doesn't really run that well and he doesn't really do anything special in coverage. He's a hitter but you can find hitters." -- AFC Pro Personnel Director

Overview - S Ronnie Harrison:

Combination safety with all the size and athletic traits you could hope for in a safety. Harrison is a fluid athlete with few athletic limitations and has the ability to fit into a variety of defensive schemes. His penchant for flying in shoulder first will need to get cleaned or risk giving up missed tackles and big plays. Harrison's physical approach and urgency in run support gives him a chance to start early.

So he's (Ronnie Harrison) that Christmas Tree still out in the Yard that needs to be thawed and drug into the Home and placed in the stand and balanced to decorate.

Then You study as much Video as you can on Justin Reid VS Ronnie Harrison as some of that Analysis I posted on the Packer Pick NO. 45 POLL Thread.

Now what do I see and the Review on S Ronnie Harrison VS Safety Justin Reid.

Safety Justin Reid:

https://www.nfl.com/prospects/justin-reid?id=32462018-0002-5601-9880-2ac673bf0eed

Look at Reid's Combine Results. Check out the support he gets from the STANFORD Head Coach. It's these incredible Measurables and his Genes and Blood. It's Reids outstanding work ethic and dedication and love of Football. It's his nedd to excel. It's the fact many feel Justin Reid id the most outstanding DB in this DRAFT. It simply all adds up to the FACT that was missed in our POLL and no real consideration for Safety Justin Reid. He was simply put overlooked and I hope if he's on the Board at the Packers NO. 45 Pick they arte smart enough to jump for JOY and pick him.

It's a matter of RISK and at NO. 45 when it's all weighed and done you cannot NOT pick the NO. 21st Ranked Prospect and a DB when your DB position is in ugly shape. You cannot not picj a Justin Reid when your starting Safety and What? Defensive QB just left for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

I really don't get it?

Here I'll seal the DEAL and Safety Justin Reid:

Study his Combine Measurables and watch this amazing athlete play Safety. READ this:

It's easy to notice Reid on the field before being aware that his brother is former LSU All-American and NFL Pro Bowl safety Eric Reid, as his physical nature and athleticism pop out immediately. The all-state pick and four-star prospect from Louisiana; Reid contributed in 13 games as a sophomore, starting 10 and earning honorable mention All-Pac-12 honors (57 tackles, four for loss, seven pass breakups). He followed his brother’s example by garnering second-team Associated Press All-American accolades in 2017, while also receiving a first-team all-conference nod, by starting 11 of 14 games, compiling 99 tackles, 6.5 for loss, five interceptions, and six pass breakups. Reid's father, Eric Sr., ran track at LSU and his brother, Ryan, plays soccer at Coastal Carolina.

Overview By Lance Zierlein NFL Analyst

What's NOT to like about PROSPECT Safety Justin Reid when your Defensive Backfield is arguably at best NOT the worst in the NFL at present.

The Capper:

So Guiness, with Safety Justin Reid ' that Christmas Tree ' is all decorated and smelling fresh and wonderful in the Home. You come inside, kick off your shoes and pour a nice drink and enjoy his lights.

This evaluation between two prospects was easy as it came to a conclusion. It was a comprehensive PROCESS and exactly what I would expect he Green Bay Packers Draft Team to go through PLUS PLUS if I was running the Show in Green Bay.

As a Packer fan and who I am overall..losing isn't acceptable.

I want him at Pick NO. 45 but he'll not likely be there.

In round one the Chargers shored up the OL so Rivers could live a better life. The team (me) promised when they made the pick that they would give him a new target and they breath a sigh of relief as the TE they coveted is still there.

Mike Gesicki had a combine workout for the ages showing the explosiveness, speed and power to replace an ancient hall of famer in Antonio Gates. Gates could be the wily veteran to teach Gesicki the tricks of the trade and how to work with Rivers. Gesicki has more raw ability than any TE in this draft and had a top 5 all time workout for the position at the combine.

Rivers to Gates should be replaced by Rivers to Gesicki as the 2 gain comfort.

INDIANAPOLIS COLTS – PICK #49

The Colts still need help at a lot of positions, even after getting CB, WR, and ER already in this draft. They could still use another DL – Rasheem Green is a possibility at this pick. OL Austin Corbett, Frank Ragnow or Martinas Rankin could also be considered.

The Colts are really thin at RB. They have Marlon Mack and not much else. Christine Michael is probably RB #2 right now.

“Marlon Mack and the Retreads” is not the RB group you want behind Andrew Luck.

The Colts have their choice of the second tier RBs. Nick Chubb, Kerryon Johnson, and Rashaad Penny are all good value here. Penny is slightly faster than the other 2 (under 4.5 in the 40) and still has good size at 220. He also has had 7 kick returns for touchdowns in the last 3 seasons.

They drafted Hunter Henry with the 35th overall pick two years ago to be that guy.

I like Davis well enough... excellent size and toughness; but, I do have some concerns about him at the next level.

He has average speed for the position, and to compensate for that lack of an extra gear, he is very grabby. In watching some of his highlights he was flagged for PI - and I thought there were an awful lot of other plays that could just as easily been flagged.

He had a terrible combine, and looked very stiff in position drills... his footwork and transition were very sloppy. Looked like he had tight hips.

I guess he fits in that rd 2-3 range... I had him as more of a 3rd rounder.

The Detroit Lions refuse to wow anyone and with the 51st selection: Frank Ragnow Interior offensive lineman, Arkansas. Nothing jumps off the charts about this kid other than he is going to be very solid for the lions. He has the makeup to be a good to very good starter in the NFL and the Lions need some consistency in the run game. Ragnow isn't the most athletic offensive lineman in the draft but when he can commit to playing the game full time he will work on technique that will make up for his lack of athleticism.

The early part of this draft for the Ravens is all about getting Joe Flacco some more weapons. After getting WR Calvin Ridley in the first round they look to get him some additional help. With TE being a glaring hole they select Mark Andrews, TE, Oooooooooooklahoma. With Andrews being in the pass-happy Oklahoma offense, he comes to the pros as arguably the top pass-catching TE in the class. He's essentially a big WR and will be a mismatch for both LBs and Safties, and given his 6'5" frame, his red-zone value cannot be overstated. His blocking needs some work, but technique can be learned and getting into a pro-level strength program will only help him as well in that area. Ozzie Newsome can walk away happy from his last draft knowing that he got 2 fantastic offensive weapons.

I watched some film on him, and my primary concern is that NFL level WR running complex routes will confuse him. When he's not playing press he doesn't mirror the WR well while he's in his backpedal and doesn't react well to comeback routes, resulting in some bad tackling angles. He's a willing tackler at the LOS, but (probably due to his lack of top end speed) can be baited into chasing a WR down the field on run downs.

Apparently he got burned a bit vs Clemson, but I couldn't find any highlights.

Carlton Davis. He played a lot of man or 2 read coverage at Auburn. When you play man you are going to get beat from time to time and you have to use your hands. Against Clemson his coverage seemed to be good, lost some against slants and good thrown balls down field.

My take on Davis. He is really really long. his arms are long. He does a nice job of reading and reacting and keeping his eyes on the receiver. At first his footwork bothered me, but when you play man you can't give up three read steps because you will get eaten up on slants. Speed didn't seem to be an issue for him on the field, guys didn't catch balls because they got by him, they caught balls on him because he lost position and didn't get his head turned around in time. He looks stiff in the lower half of his body, I think you would like a more fluid hips out of the guy, not terrible. He likes to hit and doesn't get out of position and keeps ball carriers in front of him which you want from your corners.

I think Kevin King was a little more fluid as an athlete coming out of college but you can give up a little athleticism if you are drafting a guy to play on the outside in press coverage. You need height and instincts. I think he gets beat on comeback routes. He will be forced to turn and run more often at the next level which either he will have to adapt to or mover to safety. He seems like he could play safety if nothing else.

In my mind he would be worth a second round pick, and if you were forced to reach the bottom of the first round.

And how is that working out? Hunter looks a lot like dickrod to me.

Not remotely close. Henry is a good player already, and he's going to be a stud.

https://chargerswire.usatoday.com/2018/02/09/despite-injury-chargers-te-hunter-henry-cracks-pffs-top-101-list/

Henry finished 2017 ranked as PFF’s No. 2 tight end overall with a grade of 88.0, ahead of Chiefs TE Travis Kelce (87.8) and behind only Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (93.3).

The Chargers’ tight end line of succession appears to be in a very good place given the performance of Hunter Henry in 2017. Henry played 596 snaps this season and while he only gained 579 receiving yards, he caught 75 percent of passes thrown his way and made some spectacular plays throughout the season as a receiver. Henry also had an excellent grade when blocking for the run, giving him the potential to be the all-around player that Antonio Gates was never able to be.

I don't buy into all of PFF's stats, but Henry isn't remotely close to Rodgers. Henry is a much better athlete and a much better blocker.

I was hoping Henry would fall to the Packers in 2016, but he went early in round 2. Instead, we drafted Spriggs. Ugh! Confession: I liked the Spriggs pick. I was enamored with the athleticism.

CAROLINA PANTHERS – PICK #55

The Panthers have a need at Safety as the current starters are both over 30. Only Justin Reid has been drafted since the two at the top of the first round. Either Ronnie Harrison or Jessie Bates would be a good add here. Harrison is larger and a stronger tackler, Bates looks to be the better cover guy right now.

With the 55th pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, the Carolina Panthers select:

Jessie Bates, S, Wake Forest

By the way I think that ignorance is unfortunate so:

I wanted to pass this on because I picked Safety Justin Reid at Pick NO. 47 for The Arizona Cardinals.

I also voted for him in our POLL for the Packers NO. 45 Overall Pick.

Can we have enough information when making a Pick even after observing a potential Prospect and interviewing him and thinking about the Tape on him and his Combine performance and measurables?

Like everything it just gets downto hoping your Guts are talking the Talk that best serves you. After that there's a lot of good luck and possible adversity and a Prospects challenges and Team chemistry and his attitude being overall a positive. After that it takes more.

The number of intangibles is like sitting down for a Session of TEXAS Holdem'Poker and understanding what your objectives are in terms of a certain profit and defeating all to meet your objective. You simply have to get it done right. Some get it al lot more right that others are ever really capable of.

Analysis is a rather complex field. You'll never be a World CLass Poker Player unless your analytical skills are superior. That takes superior intelligence, experience, wisdom and recall and some 'Good Ole Decent Luck'. It also takes a mastery of the art of developing good karma and solid gamesmanship. If your ever going to compete you need to understand the TRUTH and your limitations and that certain Arena and level of competition your finding yourself in. :-)

The Titans need front 7 help on D, but sometimes the board doesn't fall this way. This draft like last is fairly deep at CB and an exciting and very athletic Donte Jackson has slid down the board for more polished and ready NFL corners. Donte may surpass them all before its done, and the Titans can afford to let him learn for a year and get an NFL camp and weight room under his belt. Sometimes the board falls to your need, sometimes it falls to a great athlete. Titans fans will look back kindly at this pick.

The Atlanta Falcons covered their biggest draft need in round 1 with a DT. Round 2, we really thought Donte Jackson would fall to Dan Quinn's defense. However, that plan was foiled with just 1 pick to go. The Falcons also would like a TE, but none remain who are worthy of a 2nd round pick. So, what will the Falcons do? Well, they've decided to make their lethal offense even more deadly by pairing a vertical speed receiver with Julio Jones and Muhammed Sanu. Therefore, the Atlanta Falcons select WR DJ Chark from LSU.

The San Francisco 49ers picked Roquan Smith, LB, Georgia in Round 1 and it was necessary for them to address the Pass Rush.

They have a need on their interior OL or at Guard to be addressed in the early Rounds and for this Pick that can wait..

Another WR was an early Round Option to be that NO. 2 Guy with WR Pierre Garcon, but they have a pretty solid Stable of WRs.

Last year the 49ers had SOLID success and results going to BPA.

I had LSU WR D.J. Chark as my First choice last night but he just flew off our Mock Board.

So what's left? I don't like EDGE Arden Key in Round Two. OT Brian O'neill is still sitting there and another Option to protect New Franchise QB Jimmy Garoppolo; but OT Joe Staley although aging was extended 2 more Years. Trent Brown is a FA in 2019.

Safety Ronnie Harrison is a BPA Option and he was Graded by NFL.COM just below D J Chark. I had considered him earlier in this Round as an option when I went with Safety Justin Reid, STANFORD.

Others I liked and this Pick are :

WR's Antonio Callaway, FLORIDA and Deon Cain, CLEMSON and DT, Tim Settle, VIRGINIA TECH, and DL-5T Da'Shawn Hand, Alabama and DE's Rasheem Green, USC; Sam Hubbard, OHIO ST. and Darius Leonard, SOUTH CAROLINA ST. and EDGE's Kemoko Turay, RUTGERS and Uchenna Nwosu, USC and RB's Kerryon Johnson, AUBURN and Nick Chubb, GEORGIA all of these Guys are among the TOP Sixty - Seventy Prospects.

My Pick at NO. 59 Overall and for the San Francisco 49ers is:

Ronnie Harrison, Safety, Alabama.

"He's one of the most overrated guys at safety to me." Quoth the Raven

:-)

The above (and I assume, your challenge to my Pick) I applied to my decision on picking Justin Reid over Ronnie Harrison here:

Pic NO 47 Overall and going with Arizona Justin Reid, S, Stanford for the Arizona Cardinals.

I picked Safety Ronnie Harrison as a BPA Option for the San Fran 40ers and Pick NO. 59 as that (going BPA) worked very well for them last year.

I weighed the fact that they need to add more Pass Rush impact to their "D'.

I weighed adding to their WR group and selecting Clemson's WRF Deon Cain who I Ranked close to than my NO. 1 choice for the 49ers (last night) or WR D.J. Chark, LSU and suspected that SudsMcBucky might take him off the Board. That's exacted how it played out as I discovered, when I arrived at Packerrats this Morn Guiness.

In my Final Analysis I went to a Pick and pressure on the QB and for the 49ers 'D'.

This Guy is 'a straight ahead Banger, and he needs solid coaching and refinement; but that applies to too mann of this Drafts Prospects. We're right now discussing this very fact in another thread Guiness. It comes down to simply reducing Risk and the RISK Process of drafting College Prospects to a whole different and upscale level in the NFL.

It's not 'a perfect world' consideration but what is? As the Shadow expresses it this morning. When you really study most Prospects and what's available to assess them. You don't want very many of them at exactly that OVERALL Pick.

How much do you look beyond the criticisms to get to the task of actually picking !? You never toss a dart at the Board to do that but you make a real effort and solid analysis.

Looking ahead to Round Three and San Fran:

The team now has two solid starting caliber outside cornerbacks in CB Richard Sherman and Ahkello Witherspoon. So adding another CB in Rd. 3 is an option: ie if he's available:

University of Florida's, Duke Dawson to fill the nickel CB Spot; The addition of Dawson can give the team a great trio of corners that should be able to handle most opponents Pass 'O'.

Look at where the Packers are now and CB and compared to the Packers WOES and the Secondary...Yikes and they will address this weakness in the DRAFT and their FUTURE !

The 49ers also have pick 74. Maybe one of my considerations at NO. 59 might still be there. LBer Darius Leonard, South Carolina State, here. Leonard has the ability to play in space and cover extremely well, while also being a good pass rusher from the second level. I seriously considered him at NO. 59 but he's a better wait and a ROUND Three Option for The 49ers.

Isn't Analysis 'a Real trip' !? Have a nice day Guiness. :glug:

Well the 49ers took their top rated remaining safety. Nick Chubb is available if they want to insure against Bell rebelling, as is Rashaad Penny. Austin Corbett if you want to help the line. Kyzir White at a now depleted safety position. Ogbonnia Okoronkwo at EDGE but holy cow he isn't exactly an elephant. His college lists him as 6'0", which means he is 5' 9". And if they wanted to make their QB pissy, Mason Rudolph is still available.

Steelers are not getting high value here for need. No obvious help for the D. So they could go somewhere else easily or trade down.

But the best prospect on the board might help TJ Watt with pressure. With the 60th pick in the 2018 NFL Common Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers take Uchenna Nwosu, USC, OLB.

The Steelers are strengthening at LBer.

See Post #168 above.

A nice Pick here pbmax and a doubling down fit and Value.

I've had my eye on Rudolph for the Jags the last 10 picks or so.
I think it's really good value for a guy like him at the end of the 2nd round.
Jaguars select Mason Rudolph, QB Oklahoma St.

A solid fit for the Jags Yeti.

Hoody Genius is pissed at Woodbuck for snatching his #1 target

Hoody Genius was also kicking the tires on Mason Rudolph

But two of the three players Hoody really wanted are still there

Cigars are getting lit and Rum and Coke's are flowing

It shouldn't be easy here ever at Packerats Bretsky ! :whaa:

The CREAM like you needs to be pushed to the TOP.

Minny and WR and Deon Cain or Anthony Miller is tempting at Pick NO.62.

Justin Harrell likes solid 'D' and his preference might go there !?

ie OLB and Darius Leonard, SOUTH CAROLINA ST. OR maybe?:

CB and Junior Prospect Quenton Meeks, Stanford OR Seniors Duke Dawson, FLORIDA OR M.J. Stewart, NORTH CAROLINA OR Parry Nickerson, TULANE OR

as the Great Muhammad Ali said: " Life is a mystery."

HOODY GENIUS allows me into his home for assistance in making his 2nd round pick. He's stoked with many many Rum n Coke's.

I let him know there's a very good WR left. No chance he says. We recruited Jordan Matthews away from the Packers, and we have Edelmann coming back along with the best TE and Offensive Coordinator in the NFL. We need some more dam defense. We need playmakers. We need some more intensity. I need another multi talented athlete with a never ending frickin motor. I want a Patriot !!!

I hear a door slam and another person enters the room. Hoody grins.....many think I'm an @sshat......I'm a frickin saint compared to my NCAA buddy Urban Meyer...who is visibly upset because his recruiting effort FAILED to flip one of the top QB's in High School Football from his Wisconsin commitment to Ohio State. Hoody mumbles, many hate both of us, but we prepare people for success. HOODY's drunk ass continues.....you know when we lost the Super Bowl ? We lost once Donte HIghtower went down. He blurts out....NEED Defensive Playmakers !!!

The choice stares me in the face--SCOUTING REPORT

2017 stats: 13 games, 42 tackles, 7.0 sacks, 2 forced fumbles
Size: 6053, 270 lbs, 33 1/8 arm length, 10 hand size
Combine numbers: 35” vertical, 9’8” broad jump, 6.84 3-cone drill
Expected Round: late 1st/early 2nd

A versatile player that has experience lining up in multiple techniques along the defensive line: He played on both the left and the right side, was used in a two- and three-point stance, and attacked the pocket as a 7-, 5- and 3-technique linemen or both a Jack and Mike linebacker. He also has experience and the appropriate moving skills to drop into coverage and be competitive.

The New England Patriots have a motto under Bill Belichick: “Do Your Job.” Belichick wants players who are focused on handling their specific job well and winning with a team-first attitude. The Patriots are business-oriented, and Belichick holds his players accountable, from Tom Brady on down to the rookies. It’s not a good locker room fit for every NFL player, but there is one draft prospect who, on paper, seems like the perfect match for the Patriots.....a versatile edge rusher — and one-time lacrosse player — with a strong work ethic. His pass-rush ability is bolstered by his time playing safety in high school. His experience in the secondary gives him excellent coverage skills for a defensive end, and further adds to the versatility he offers as a draft pick.

And he proved at the combine that he has the type of athleticism where you could insert him as a 4-3 base OLB, a 3-4 Jack OLB, or a 4-3 Sub DE from day one. In particular, his three-cone and shuttle times were elite for a man that is over 6’5 and weighed in at 270.

Belichick is no stranger to Ohio State prospects, and as a longtime friend of Buckeye head coach Urban Meyer and defensive coordinator Greg Schiano, he is a regular feature at the school’s pro day and coaching clinics.

Hubbard’s athleticism has been on full display since high school, where, in addition to playing safety, he was an all-star lacrosse player. In fact, he was initially committed to playing lacrosse at Notre Dame until Urban Meyer stopped by practice one day and convinced him to play football for Ohio State instead.

He had an official meeting with the Patriots during the NFL Combine in early March, and he then got to work with Belichick during drills at Ohio State’s pro day on March 22. After the Meeting, the player tweeted about meeting the legendary HOODY GENIUS. His Dream is coming true; he's becoming a New England Patriot

With the 63rd pick in the Second Round, the New England Patriots draft SAM HUBBARD...........from THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY

THE CLEVELAND BROWNS SELECT.............EDGE.........KEMOKO TURAY............Rutgers

[6'5", 252 lbs] and that fast [4.65 40] don't fall in the draft."

Kemoko Turay was a top-50 prospect before the 2016 season but fell off the map because of two shoulder surgeries. Once he was healthy and back on the field this past season, Turay reminded folks why he was such a top prospect previously.

Kemoko Turay had an up and down career at Rutgers, as shoulder injuries hindered him for a good portion of his time on the banks. However, his enormous potential was always evident. During his senior season in 2017, Turay was clearly the best edge rushing threat on the team. He led the team in tackles for a loss (7), quarterback hits (6), sacks (4), fumble recoveries (2) and was third on the team in total tackles with 65. Turay showed he had become a more complete player and the hope for him to have a chance to make it in the NFL was alive.

After Turay’s performances throughout the week during practices for the Senior Bowl, as well as a few moments during the game itself, it’s now a matter of how high he will be selected in April’s NFL Draft

Did second round in 7 days (with original 8 day schedule). If we do 3 rounds, would need 24 days. Call it 26 so the Packer poll has time.

Draft in 2019 is April 25 to 27. We would need to start next year's mock on March 31st or so. 4 picks per day. 1 full day for first two rounds of Packer pick polls.

Sam Hubbard at NO.63 and that's actually a little unreal he lasted and undrafted this long Bretsky.

It does come down to fit. You got an excellent Value Pick and with NE it comes down to as you say discipline, work ethic and most of all, a sense of Patriot Pride and that we must win attitude. After that do you love Kraft cheese? :-)

Bretsky:

I read your post line by line and I'm thinking as I read ... why? (whoever this Pick is) why did he stay on the Board this long?

I think you missed your calling Bretsky as an NFL Player Agent.

I'm very pleased your on our Packerrats 'Virtual Reality' BRASS and Coaching and Scouting and did I select anyone for our Strength and Conditioning Team?

Are there any Sports Medicine Packerrats in the House? Any medical or Physical Ed. members in the House?

Ok and until further Notice Fritz is (if you agree to take on this task) Unofficially in charge of shoring up this vital area and concern as to why Packers are falling to serious injury, like flies in November.

Nailed it again !

The Patriots are going to become 'the Monsters of the Midway' on 'D'; an 'in your face' DEFENSE.

Packerrats did an excellent job of this two Round MOCK.

Maybe we can start this MOCK earlier, and in a future Season do Three Rounds.

All you need is a 100 Prospect Board.
