Let's get this organized people. Put all the round one stuff here

Cheesehead Craig
04-26-2018, 07:17 PM
It's Baker!

pbmax
04-26-2018, 07:18 PM
Wow, I thought that was a smokescreen. Most mocks are toast now :)

Joemailman

Mayock had Mayfield as #4 QB

theeaterofshades
04-26-2018, 07:20 PM
So with mayfield gone, does it open up TE for the JETS?

pbmax
04-26-2018, 07:21 PM
Mayock had Mayfield as #4 QB

You posting the scouting reports?

pbmax
04-26-2018, 07:22 PM
Giants trying to win one for Eli!

Cheesehead Craig
04-26-2018, 07:23 PM
The trading is going to be nuts for a QB now. Didn't think the Giants would pass on Darnold for Barkley.

Joemailman
04-26-2018, 07:23 PM
Should any RB be drafted that high?

pbmax
04-26-2018, 07:24 PM
So with mayfield gone, does it open up TE for the JETS?

?? Jets might be thrown for loop, depending on which reports (Mayfield or Rosen) were correct about their preference for a QB.

pbmax
04-26-2018, 07:24 PM
Should any RB be drafted that high?

Nope. Especially since you need a QB.

Cheesehead Craig
04-26-2018, 07:25 PM
Giants are hoping that the QB class in two years is great. Because supposedly next year's QB class is not good at all.

Joemailman
04-26-2018, 07:27 PM
You posting the scouting reports?

Can't tonight'.

Cheesehead Craig
04-26-2018, 07:28 PM
Jets will take Darnold. Then Cleveland will come back with Chubb.

pbmax
04-26-2018, 07:34 PM
So does John Elway like Rosen an OL or defender?

04-26-2018, 07:51 PM
Weirdly I read a mock yesterday that had this draft pegged so far, and it was a guy from Cleveland who wrote it. He had Buffalo move up with Chicago, and Arizona move up with Oakland...we'll see if he's a genius. Now I can't find the website it was on!

This is going great for the Pack. The team that wanted James allegedly traded back to 12, so the Packers could move ahead and get him. Now starts the run of defenders we think. Every offensive player taken in the next few is a significant benefit to us.

According to Jimmy Johnson, its a 10% return. Next year draft picks are discounted one round for calculation:

Packers Team A, Pick 14
Saints Team B, Picks 27, 39 (assume same 27th draft position in 2019) and 147

Answer:

Trade Totals
Trader A Gives Value: 1100
Trader B Gives Value: 1222.6

Gain/Loss %
Trader A: +11.15%
Trader B: -10.03%

I can only assume Gutey didn't like the value in this draft.

James is safety they don't need with similar profile, if better results, to Jones.

Edmunds not everyone's favorite LB

Pass rushers not a value here.

I don't like a next year pick, doesn't help the D this year. But you never know if they use it to move into second round this year.

woodbuck27
04-26-2018, 08:46 PM
Not enough. Not even close.

Hahaha.. ... that's your 'Reality Check' move Packer fan.

This Season is a pure assessment Year...the Roster is not strong. The 'D' is WEAK LBer and >>> back. The worst CB's (arguably) in the NFL.

We don't have a NO. 1 WR and that Position of former strength is sadly weakened.

The Packers simply made a logical move trading back. Packerrats have been seeing that and calling that move all week.

Joemailman
04-26-2018, 08:47 PM
If someone like Landry is available at 27 this trade will look better.

Looking at old trade chart here:
https://gbnreport.com/2015-nfl-draft/nfl-draft-trade-value-chart/

Packers
#14 = 1100

Saints
#27 = 680
#164 = 26
Next year's 1 (27) = this year"s 2 (59) = 310

Comes to 1016

On that calculation it's an underpay of 84 by Saints.
Next year's #1 imust be valued more like this year's #50 (400 points) or so.

Have to hope Saints are not as good next year as this year.

Wow, I am surprised they moved back given who was available, but I can only assume they know better than I do. It seems sort of savvy to pick up the extra 1st next year and only give up a third. They aren't keeping 12 players, so I expect them to trade up a few more times to get back into round 3 and maybe even round 2 again.

What are the odds the saints are great again next year? Tampa is a team on the rise, and the Falcons will be better next year as well. I have a hunch that will end up being a top 10 pick.

Don't mind Alexander, but didn't like how the trades worked out. If you go by the theory that a pick in the following year is equivalent to one round later, that's going to be roughly equivalent to a late 2nd for a top half of the third and a 5th. Just that is a pretty even trade, and we also dropped four spots in the first round. It could work out, but it will likely take a Drew Brees injury to do so, and he's been ultra durable.

The theory is that in the NFL the future is now and as CCR once sang "tomorrow never comes" - but I agree, next years asset is quite real and allows good stuff.

But it doesn't help now unless you deal it now.

So its value while it remains a future asset is discounted to the present. Very illiquid.

Can be very valuable, but it has some limitations.
