i caught part of doug gottlieb on his show yesterday talking about why a-rod hasn't won more super bowls. he basically said its because TT sucked as a GM

he said the Vikings should show everyone this weekend just why the packers haven't won more SBs

he refused to break things down, but he said, if you take the starters from both teams (22 players), and had to pick between the 2 to make 1 team, he would select 18 or 19 players from the Vikings, and only a few starters (including rodgers) from GB. he did say there might be a few guy that were close and up for debate, but overall, the Queens had the much better roster

anyone want to break it down?

Too simple to just say "TT sucked", but I don't want to get into it.

Bostick/Peppers/Burnett and injuries/bad luck probably cost them two (2011 and 2014).

Great QBs, like Rodgers, Favre, Marino, sometimes sabotage their own chances by skewing draft position. Look at the teams that have waxed and waned as the Packers have stayed competitive.

OK, now *Yawn*

Brady is the exception, not the rule.

Are Elfline and Compton still hurt? That would be a big difference.

I've been saying for years that the Vikes are more talented... really don't think there is much of a debate here.

As for TT - he was avg. to below avg. in player evaluation... a lot of us in here could have done better, as a lot of the players we wanted turned out better than TT's picks.

Add to that his refusal to bring in veterans and you have a constantly churning roster that never gets to the top. 2010 was a fart in the wind, and he came close the year Stubby flubbed the game away in Seattle; but, overall his time as GM should be considered a failure.

Lazy evaluation from a basketball guy based on last season's records. The Vikings have a good team, but will not be in the Super Bowl this year and probably not in the next few years. Gottlieb lacks context in his understanding of the teams he was commenting on. He should have just shut the fuck up so he wouldn't be exposed as an ignorant cuckold.

I watched our shitty D hold them to what? 13 points was it late last season with no Rodgers. I think people over react to the eminently shitty TT. If TT had resigned Micah Hyde and Casey Heyward He would be a genius. Go ahead and match up TTs drafts vs. the Vikings. If MM weren't such an imbecile we definitely would have made one more superbowl, and if Dom had schooled his D on playing the read option at all we would probably have been in yet another.

I think the talent drain from drafting high is real and the only defense against it is to petition the League to switch to the AFC South.

The Patriots and possibly some other teams have done just fine building all around quality even though they consistently draft near the bottom. Ted shoulda done a helluva lot better.

I’m always perplexed by what this ‘’considerably”’ better means. Only NE did considerably better than the Packers over TT’s run.

I too would have liked a couple more Superbowls wins but l argue that it wasn’t really a TT failing. But no more from me; this becomes tiresome.

What I get tired of is people judging Aaron Rodgers by lack of Super Bowls won or played in - when that CLEARLY is the result of mediocre talent around him. And that definitely is a "TT failing".

I don't do that. I judge MM that way cuz he has rodgers, and if today proved anything its that the HUGE talent gap between these 2 teams is almost nonexistent and like it or not this is still largely TT's team.

The best thing about today was to see that the Packers are the better team. Not enough to win at MN most likely, but they're better.

Looking forward to King, Jones(2x) and Burks all being available.
