All three of Kyler Fackrell's sacks came in the fourth quarter, when the Bills were in a must-pass mode. Fackrell's playing time has increased from four snaps in the opener to 13 in Week 2 to 23 in Week 3 to a season-high 26 in...

Fackrell has no business on an NFL roster... terrible player.
For next year Fackrell, Ryan, Morrison, and the other recent addition (name escaped me) all need to be replaced. Matthews and Perry are both borderline players.
Green Bay has the worst set of LB'ers in the league.

It's always hard to tell where the sarcasm ends and the bitterness begins in here. Fackrell has never been quite as bad as detractors claim. He needs to play at least a couple more games like he did against the Bills to prove he's for real. It could be that we just went up against an O Line that was even worse than our own. Fackrell has always been fast. He should be smart - being a little older than most 2nd year players. He maybe needs some added muscle. I still think he could be at least a decent rotational player.

Only Kyler Fackrell could manage a negative grade on a play he was credited for a sack on.
(For the record Fackrell never touched him, Allen tripped over his own lineman and it should have been a play on).
This is why you can’t always trust a box score ; )

It still counts. Doesn't have to be pretty. Or planned. Or well executed. Taking out a teammate is completely expected.
Honestly, any pressure is good. He forced an O lineman into the QBs path and Fack cut off the QBs escape route. Wasn't pretty at all but he completely screwed up the offensive play. All we are asking really.

For the life of me I do not understand, after he clearly beat his man inside, why he kept crossing in front of the quarterback instead of turning upfield. Was the offensive lineman's seemingly slight hand push enough to keep Fackrell going past the QB? It's almost as if Fackrell thinks the Bills' left guard is the quarterback, cuz that's who he seems to be rushing.
And that's a Fack.
pbmax
10-02-2018, 11:37 AM
What was Kyler aiming at? It was an inside stunt to allow Clark to loop around inside.
But what was his target?
EDIT: sorry, mostly repeat of Fritz, but hey, speculation follows...
Did he get bumped or trip or was he trying to chip Matthews blocker off him?

and if Clark stayed on his feet he would've had the sack. I couldn't believe Fackrell got credited for 3 sacks...thought that was about double what he should've gotten.
I did appreciate him blowing kisses to the haters/crowd.
If he could show that he can consistently cover, or speed rush then he might have more value. As it is he's a good ST player but he really shouldn't be more than OLB #5. Yes, I know they only have 4 OLBs on the depth chart.
I don't think he's horrible, but if ST ace is his ceiling they could have found comparable production from a lower round pick or UDFA.
Who's the bigger R3 flop - Fackrell or Montravious? I guess we should give them both the whole season to decide.

10-02-2018, 05:20 PM
I think Fackrell just figured out that RT at the end of the game. It's like finding a glitch in Madden. You exploit it often to get the sack (don't know about the new one, but back in Madden '04, if you called a certain play and shifted the D-line, the O-line wouldn't even try to block you; it was a sack up the gut on every play).
pbmax
10-02-2018, 06:44 PM
The best part of that play in Ponch running up to Allen at the end like something exciting was going to happen.
Second Fack speculation, maybe he was concussed? Or dizzy from earlier sack?

He looks like a fullback trying to open a lane for the halfback (Martinez). Only the halfback got swallowed up by the turf monster and didn't come blasting through the hole until five seconds later.

^ Can't see Clay at the start of the play, but it looks like a double T-E twist stunt. End goes inside to tie-up Guard and OT, D Tackle loops outside hoping to find a vacated lane.
But I wonder if this pretty standard stunt has a twist. Are Clay and Kyler supposed to knock the Guards together? Literally meet in the middle and hope someone falls down?
It would serve two or three functions: confuse the pocket, making escape up the middle harder. Without a step up, you might put the QB in reach of a looping DT. And if a Guard falls down, then an End is free to the QB.
Fackrell should have recognized that the OT followed him and not the Guard, making the possible collision in the middle half as effective. But he had more than a step on the tackle and should have headed right for the QB.

How true that is.
If your thesis is correct - that Fack was supposed to meet in the middle, then he may have revealed one of his faults - he's so wedded to the plan that he can't see or can't take advantage of the very real opportunity to make a play that presents itself to him.
That big day of his don't seem so big no more.
