View Full Version : Green Bay Packers - Miami Dolphins Official Game Day Thread

The Packers are coming into the 2nd half of the season. They are 3-4-1 and have under performed for most of the 1st half. They have been able to put a half a game together here and there but haven't put a whole game together. The last two weeks have been closer with good effort for the whole game and not coming out flat like they have done a handful of times in the first half.

The Packers are now in desperation mode. They can't afford to have a let down the rest of the season. And nothing sets up the 2nd half like a game against Miami when they are going to have to start Osweiler up in the cold at Lambeau Field.

Packers come out quick. Smash the Dolphins in the mouth and cruise to the victory.

Packers 31-17.

So we all think. And hope. If they're ever going to shit, now's the time. But this team seems so uneven, who knows? Maybe it's time they just get off the pot.

I find the indictment by other NFL coaches that no one looks at Green Bay's offense for innovative ideas to be powerful. Rodgers, perhaps, sees that it's getting stale, and he'd like to be on the cutting edge.

Dammit, have Aaron Jones throw a halfback pass! Bring back the old draw play! Have the receivers go in motion like it's the Keystone Kops!

Just getting ready to head up to GB. Will try to snap some picks and maybe get them posted here.

I wasn’t going to go to the game. My wife and son are using our tickets for the game. A friend called and his mom lives in Brown County and “won” the ticket lottery. She got 4 tickets to the game and I got invited.

Not unless 4-5 rookies play like seasoned starters. This team has no Woodson, no Matthews, no pass rush. Have to dominate with coverage to play decent defense.

I am following the game on espn game tracker. The way the ball is moving up and down the field it looks like one of those San Diego-Dolphin shootouts from the early 80s. I agree it was a foolish call. But how is it possible that the defense can get to Rodgers when he is in the shotgun, throwing a short pass to gain a couple yards? Even if nobody blocks he should get if off - I draw on my experience in backyard football. How inept is this offense?

give me a new coach

either he's tanking for a new coach

he got paid and now just doesn't care like we see all the time

or

he's past his peak and on the down side of his career

he is nowhere near the same player we have gotten use too, knee problems or not, he's not seeing the field and he's not making the throws like he use to

or, has the collar none injury last season to his throwing shoulder having an effect on him

we might just be seeing a window that has now closed

With a great 3rd quarter, we've moved to .500. This was Aaron Jones coming out party. Do we have enough to beat Seattle in Seattle on Thursday night?

Just a note: with 3 min. left up 31-12, Rodgers still in the game. That's terrible coaching.

You could say a mediocre performance against a bad team, but the fact is, the Dolphins were 5-4 and we beat 'em fairly easily.

Just 9 pages in the Gameday thread - and most of that the usual whiners whining even on a good day hahahahaha.

Nice to get a win. Aaron Jones had a good game, and the defense held Miami to FGs (Osweiler helped).
Dolphins picked on Josh Jackson...and there were some sketchy calls on 3rd down. I have no idea why you're sending 4 out on long developing routes on 3rd and 2. A checkdown will get you a fresh set of downs to try a deep ball.

Finally, Special teams continue to be a mess. Lucas Patrick is as sure handed as Tramon, and that punt block had me swearing at the TV. The Raven Greene run was fun, but not enough to outweigh things. I realize virtually every NFL fan base hates their ST coach, but Zook has to be worried.

got a needed W. nice game by the defense. the score doesn't indicate how inept our O is. monster game by Jones. McCarthy was the only guy who stopped him. I think I'll puke if I see us run another WR screen. too many injuries. Sea is going to be very dicey... probably an L.

Jones is the real deal....best Packer RB since Batman. Seems like the OL run blocks much better than they pass protect so you may as well work him and start ripping some play action. Defenses have been just asking them to run so let them have it.

PB I need my banjo.

Aaron Jones hit a max speed of 21.33 MPH on his 67-yard run, the fastest top speed by a Packers ball carrier in the last 3 seasons according to NFL Next Gen Stats.

I was watching highlights 'cause I didn't watch the game, and holy shit balls that dude is fast.

And yet he was caught. Packer speed isn't NFL speed, apparently.

If the company is behind a running back,
it can shove it right down their throats!

I have been saying this ALL FREAKING SEASON!!!!! It's plain as hell to see that the run game/play action would be very effective. But for some reason stubby and or AR refuse to stick with it.

Man, Montravious Adams is a big dude. And he seems quick. I wonder why the hell he doesn't play better - I do see that he seems to get shoved back on running plays, or shoved out of the way. Pad level?

Can he be used on passing downs to get after the QB?

And maybe I spoke to soon as to Josh Jones being a bust. He looked willing to tackle and decent in coverage, to my amateur eyes.

Nice to see Adams make a positive play, he was slippery on the sack even if he did drop his hands a little early.
I thought Josh Jones had a nice game -- he was active and tackled pretty well. Didn't notice any glaring blown coverages.
Pettine seems to be coaching something out of these guys, but what I really like is he's not afraid of playing his best players vs. the big contracts or veterans.

Fackrell was decent, not just on the sack. He did ok in coverage a couple of times and was in on tackles other times too. I'll take him over Perry even if Perry is healthy.

As good as the D was in the red zone, we got pushed around pretty bad at times. As good as the offense looked most of the game, I'd like to see them do it against a couple of other defenses before concluding anything.

I was at the game so haven't had a chance to post anything...

Probably time to stop calling Fackrell a bust. He may be Pack's 2nd best OLB.

I'm starting to think Rodgers knows his accuracy is off and is therefore throwing the ball away because he doesn't trust himself to throw into a tight window. Rodgers looks slow when he does get room to run. Either the knee is still a problem, or he's afraid to test it fully, of he's just slowing with age.

I've been pretty tough on Josh Jones. I thought he was okay yesterday. Baby steps I guess.

Packers guards seem to be better run blockers than pass blockers. Or Aaron Jones is just better than Aaron Rodgers right now.

I agree with Fritz. Mount Adams looks BIG. I figured that was Lancaster who got that sack.

We might need an Official Fire Zook! Thread.

And Kudos to the O Line for opening those holes - I sure haven't had the occasion to say that very often, and I'd like to see it against a couple of other defenses along with some better pass blocking before I get too lavish with the praise.

still just 15 carries

but i guess when you're averaging 10 yards per carry, you don't need as many touches
