I gotta say I'm not exactly fired up for this one. I guess having the Rams back where they belong and in the Superb Owl is interesting but I'm far beyond getting sick of seeing the Pats in it all the damn time. Credit to them I guess.

I think just about everybody would rather see someone else from the AFC. But even in a year where they're not the best team from the AFC, it still felt like they'd end up there.

Maybe more teams should try WR's at another position if they can't master finer points of WR position. Lots of great athletes don't make it as a WR.

The key to beating the Patriots is being able to hit Brady over and over. He's a puss when you get pressure on him. As soon as a defender gets close he goes into that fetal tuck position and looks for a place to fall down. Been watching him do that for years.

So you question if he should get any credit for all of the offseason adjustments since this is Hoody Senior. And I didn't see you giving him any credit for raining 43 on the Chiefs to somehow help get this team to the SB.

But you blast him when the offense struggles for a day. Hmmmm

This was not a good matchup for the Patriots OL; the Rams DL made them their bitches all day, which was fully expected. And the Rams CB's were better than the Pats WR's and Gronk has been Jimmy Graham'd ….aka...banged up all season. Ive followed the Rams all year; if you remember I've liked the Rams since Vince Ferragamo and Lawrence Mccutcheon kept losing to the dam Dallas Cowbodys. They were WAY more talented than the Patriots. NE had a far superior QB, and a far superior coaching staff. Beyond that I"m not sure where the Pats had advantages.

So they had to find ways to get Edelman open, and hit the injured Gronk a couple key times. Losing Gordon was a big blow to that offense and I'm truly baffled they won the last two games. They moved the ball far better than the Rams in the first half but it was still tough sailing for them and they could not convert any long drives.

That offense has no explosive players at WR's. Edelman is a great route runner; but shame on the Rams for not finding a way to contain him better. And shame on the Rams coaches for getting their ass handed to them.

Now I didn’t watch the game b/c I’m boycotting the NFL for its unjust treatment of Kap, but what is it with you young uns and your Madden mentality? If the game ain’t as explosive as the Tet Offense, it’s boring.

In my glorious youth in ‘66, when I was living in ‘Francisco and liberating the first feminist from the barbed prison of her brothel, a 3-0 game was considered awesome.

How can you hate Bielema? What'd he ever do to Wisconsin fans besides win and win big? .

Not in any particular order:

1. Used to pick fights with kids and then jettison them off the team
2. Was a drunk*
3. Not a bowl game winner (2-4)
4. Left for what was supposed to be a better opportunity and was worse off
5. Not a particularly good game day coach or planner

*rumored, not witnessed personally, but there is a substantial amount of circumstantial evidence

Unless you ran into to him prior to him having a hired driver, he wasn't an accident waiting to happen

1. Good recruiter (though oddly he could never find enough O lineman or WR which hurt him and Gary Anderson)
2. Lovely conniver who would take the spirit of the rules and chuck them out the window (that he did this against Penn State, in retrospect, seems like a blow for justice)
3. Loved the public glad handling part of the job
4. Good defensive coach and had good ST

He did, but that is becoming more and more common. So its a bad look for a team having a good season, but not quite as earthshaking as it seemed at the time.

Plus Barry went full Schembechler and wanted a Wisconsin man coaching the bowl game. Which worked out OK for him as Barry was there and the kids asked (I hope that is actually what happened) him to coach them in the bow game.

Paul Alexander @CoachPaulAlex
PATS are defending RAMS by playing 5UP on run downs . Instead of traditional 4-2 sub front, they are effectively playing an over 5-1 front This is to reduce the push combos on the rams wide zone scheme.

One of KYPack's favorite O line coaches.

Glad I was not wrong and saw Larry Little and Paul Warfield with Czonka sipping champagne as the undefeated '72 Dolphins! Was my second favorite ad just behind the ad that warned you that what you didn't know about your garage could kill you.

WTF was that halftime show? Holy hell. What was the deal on Gurley? I had heard he was 100 percent but obviously that was BS. McVay must have some M3 in him...what a joke.

Lowest ratings on a Superb Owl in ten years? Trouble for the NFL, methinks.

Or maybe people are sick of seeing the Patriots in the Owl. Would be nice if the AFC could get their act together.

We old timers, we actually appreciate defense.

This wasn't a spectacular defensive game. It was almost as dull as a soccer game. From 538:

And while there may be more to football than scoring points, it’s hard to argue that this Super Bowl was a shining example of compelling low-scoring football. Neither team was efficient on third down, with each converting just three opportunities into a new set of downs. A total of one play was run in the red zone by either team. The first half of the game was so uneventful that the two plays with the highest impact as measured by win probability added were punts by Johnny Hekker.

Every player who plays will almost certainly be described as 100% healthy, just to make the other team prepare for him.

Well, we were talking about television viewers. I'm not sure what television viewers can do to stop the Patriots.

Like I said, I boycotted the game. I simply checked the final score. 13-3 sure looks like a fucking defensive kampf.

IMO - a serious NFL fan could list several regular season games that were better than this, and casual fans would probably rate the commercials as meh.

I thought the game was more interesting when NE had the ball simply because it was a pretty good match -- they could move the ball somewhat but then LA defense would step up. Until the 4Q the game could have turned on a single play for either team (e.g., a pick-6).
When LA had the ball their offense looked inept...in fact, it was eerily similar to watching GB this year. Their RG was getting killed, and Goff didn't trust his reads and was never comfortable in the pocket.

Wasn't the best game but it wasn't blowout-unwatchable either.

When LA played the Bears in the regular season Goff looked the same, and I wondered if Fangio figured them out or if it was a mulligan. NE doesn't have a ton of stars on D so you can bet teams will be breaking down the film and coming up with defensive counters they can use on their own squad.

Tell me Sean McVay doesn't sound like a former GB coach in this thread. Granted, its only one quote and its paraphrased, but this is the difference between BB and the rest of the coaches.

https://sports.theonion.com/sean-mcvay-begs-mother-to-let-him-stay-up-to-coach-rest-1832310251

ATLANTA—Promising that he would go to bed “right after” the game ended, Rams head coach Sean McVay begged his mother to let him stay up Sunday night so he can call plays for the rest of Super Bowl LIII. “C’mon, Mom, just one more hour! Pretty please! We’re so close, I can’t just pause the game now,” said McVay, reminding his mother, Cindy, that he doesn’t have to get up early at all tomorrow morning and promising to “do double chores” if she let him finish coaching the biggest game of the year. “It’s not fair that Bill [Belichick] gets to stay up and coach just because he’s older. It’s the Super Bowl, Mom, this is really important. You already made me miss the NFC championship to have dinner with Grandma!” At press time, McVay’s mom had finally relented and told him he could coach for one more quarter if he got into his pajamas.
