I thought that title went to YouTube highlight reel watching amateur draftniks deducing the NFL readiness of college players they never watched before and where they should be drafted and then arguing about them on internet forums.

The draft guys can at least count on 2-3 years of waiting to be proven right or wrong. Schedule chasers are trying to save five minutes with a month's worth of effort.

EDIT: It was all lies.

One of these days, I am going to act on one of my stupid ideas instead of waiting. In the draft thread, Brian Burke stole my draft confabulator idea a year before I had it.

zzzzzzz. we already know who and where were playing. the only question is where the 3-game road stretch, that they always penalize us with, hits us. oh...and when/where the now-traditional frigid night game(s), where the temps are always in the 20's or less, is. no way common sense enters the process where we could play during the warmest time of the day...no way.

I loved Ron Wolf's line about the Packers being hampered by the complete availability of their stadium on all dates.

The Bills have the same problem, except that no one wants to be in that stadium, ever.

Packers visit both Lions (obviously) and Cowboys this year. There are rumors that its going to be too attractive to pass up Packers on Turkey Day. Chicago Tribune's Brad Biggs says

Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune reports that the Bears are expected to face the Lions on Thanksgiving.

Which would put 3/4 of the NFC North on display that Thursday. Could be 4/4 depending on who gets the night game.

Can we book Nickleback to open for Coldplay (maybe that be the other way around)? With any luck a guitar player or two would get frostbite on his fingers and we'd kill two birds with one stone.

We better be away on 9/15. If not that is two years in arrow starting with 2 home games. Which means an extended road trip some where late in the season.

So, from what I've been told, the Packers HOME schedule will be:

Wk 2 Minnesota
Wk 3 Denver
Wk 4 Philadelphia (possible TNF)
Wk 6 Detroit (possible MNF)
Wk 7 Oakland
Wk 9 Carolina
Wk 14 Washington
Wk 15 Chicago

That's a two game road trip to end the season. Assume bye is after week 9, its 3 road games in four weeks.

If Murphy had any brains, he'd be screaming bloody murder about all those back to back roadies. They are helping launch the 100th anniversary season and they get shafted with double road games and another Thursday game.

Brian Burke @bburkeESPN
Rest differential is a meaningful predictor. This season NE has the worst net rest difference compared to their opponents at -13 days. They're followed by MIA & PHI at -11, and GB and SF at -10.

Brian Burke @bburkeESPN
Another way to look at rest differential is how many weeks does a team have less rest than its opponent. GB, SF, NYJ, MIA have 5 weeks. MIN, PIT, SEA, CLE, BAL, and NYG have 4 weeks.

Brian Burke @bburkeESPN
Facing teams coming off their bye is particularly challenging. NE & PHI have 3 games vs bye-rested opponents. GB, SF, MIA, BAL, and NO have 2.

Teams who never face a team coming off their bye: LAC, BUF, DET, TB, CAR, DAL, ARI, CIN, KC.

I don't like them either, but at least the opener doesn't force them to play on 4 days rest. And having 2 Thursday games does mean they have an extra mini-bye.

I tried using "net rest differential" as an excuse but my wife wasn't buying it.

Just think, 15 years ago I was a peon just like you. Then I met my wife and got to start going to games.

Of course my company has 4 seats up in the Champions Box now.

Oakland and Denver for the Gold Package games this year.

So you and Dan . . . Gold members.

As for the rest differential business, I wonder if that's a byproduct of trying to market the most popular/successful brands/teams, or if it's an attempt to use the rest differential as another means of evening the playing field.

It was 2 and 6 at one time. I think they switched it to 5 to reduce chances of people traveling from southern Wisconsin and Illinois having to make the trek in wintry weather.
