Packers were founded August 11, 1919. https://100.packers.com/moments

Maybe Patler or The Shadow have some memories to share from that special day.

Happy birthday packers, thank you for being a wonderful form of entertainment that consumes far too much of my time.

Happy Birthday to the most excellent sports franchise. The one I grew up with, the one I ....well, you know.

It seems entirely fitting that the NFL centenary celebration will take up two full years.

I can’t string one cake out over two years.

I cannot wait for the 100 year celebration during next years draft, which is the 84th draft. There were, of course, drafts during the war (listen, the NFL had a role to play in the challenge question for soldiers on the front and its role was not to get in the way of Yankee questions).

But there were no drafts in 1979 because skirmishing broke into open hostilities the year Earl Campbell was available, causing heavy loss of GM scouting time. Teams of scouts were forming blockades in the southwest's major county roads with luggage, blackboards and overhead projectors. Back then of course, your luggage did not roll like todays models.

And of course in 1989 when no one wanted Mandarich but the Packers eventually agreed to take him after 5 days of teams passing on the first round pick. We almost lost Mel that year as 5 days is a long time to only go to the restroom twice a day.
