ITS GAMEDAY BABY!!! I am an early riser (west coast time) and have been milling around the house for an hour already cursing the NFL for Monday night Packer games. What better than to get this started so Kick Ass can make his obligatory post.

I hate the responsibility that comes with gameday thread, but if it meant punking Jeruh in his own house I can deal with it.

This isn't yesterdays Lions team, and even if they were bad they have a 4 game winning streak against our hometown heroes.

I admit, I underestimated this team coming in. I got a favorable Vegas totals number of 7 wins and I confidently dropped a nickel ($500 for non bettors) on the under. That is looking like a mistake. The Lions have showed a lot of Pride (see what I did there) amassing a 2-1-1 record against a tough schedule beating both the Chargers and Eagles, losing to the mighty chiefs offense. The week 1 cardinals game tie is appearing to be an aberration.

Whats new in Detroit besides a rebuilt downtown? Well, for starters fat Matt is no fat mike. He is hungry to win as much as at the golden coral. He is probably the best defensive mind to spawn from the hoodie tree that doesn't have many branches. He stymies guys like Rivers and Maholmes. He follows the hoodie mantra of "you won't beat me with your best guy".

Detroit has added several ex pats (I think they still pay taxes though) to its roster, but none more notable than Trey Flowers...its their version of Zadarius. They are building a new attitude and have a chip on their shoulder about being viewed as the franchise that forced Barry Sanders and Calvin Johnson into early retirement.

Ok, onto this game. They are going to stuff the run early. Patricia knows we want to run and he will sell out early on to stop it. Next he will begin using his talent up front to pressure rodgers with only 4 guys while flooding the zones behind them. The youth at our skill positions might have trouble identifying soft spots to get open. This should be a game Jimmy Graham and Mercedes Lewis contribute in. Some outside short passes to Graham and some middle passes to Mercedes could open things up. If the lions start to sag down, its time to take some shots deep with MVS. Maybe a fast hitting slant to Kumerow where he can scoot past the sagging D for a big gain.

This will be a dog fight. I see a lot of D and field position battles. Scott will be a star once again. A lions team off a bye will play with a ton of energy and emotion.

Packers escape an ugly physical game with a 17-13 win and break the 0-4 skid against the newly ferocious lions. Packers fans again start to ask if ARod is good anymore after he goes 14-26 for 191 yards and 1 TD pass.

I don't think it will be that close. Our pass rushers against a fairly immobile QB who tends to throw it to the other team - a plus; Our weak run defense against a team with less of a running game that several others we've played - still a small minus, but less than previous weeks.

Also, our passing game against a team known for using man coverage should help somebody like Valdez-Scantling who messes up occasionally in against zone. Also, I'm expecting our RBs to get some nice catch and runs against their LBs. Passing to our slow TEs against man coverage is exactly what we shouldn't do.

The Lions have been playing over their heads and are due for a fall. The Packers are due for a comfortable win.

I expect them to play tough. I like that Jamaal is back.

But I also think the Chargers and Eagles wins look less impressive now than earlier, even if those Eagles beat the Packers at home.

One of the better and more clever game day thread starters I've seen in a while. Good job, Bobble. However, I do think the Lions play a lot of man-to-man on defense. Other than that, I agree with your analysis, though I think the Lions have what it takes to shut down the Packers and escape with a win.

One advantage the Packers have: both Dashawn Hand and Mike "The Foot" Daniels are out for this game, and Ashawn Robinson is questionable.

@NFL coaches have won challenges for pass interference calls or no-calls in Week 6. The original call has been upheld on 24 of their past 25 PI challenges, per @ESPNStatsInfo. Not saying it’s fair or right, but they’re just wasting timeouts and challenges at this point.

I take that as a complement even though my only competition in 6 months+ has been APB :)

I know the lions have played man this year quite a bit, but I expect to see a different look. Patricia knows that historically the way to stymie Rodgers is flood the zones and work 4 guys in a contained rush. I expect he does what works best more than doing what he has done so far. I can't be sure, but its what I expect.

On the flip side, the Packers pass-rush should have no problem affecting Matthew Stafford, as the Lions offensive line has been poor in pass protection all season.

Stafford has been sacked only 7 times, but his completion percentage is fairly low at 62.4%. Which likely means he's had to unload the ball a fair amount to avoid sacks.

I do think we match up with with our pass rushers and with Clark inside to shrink the pocket. Detroit by my notes has a very average running attack.

You will be impressed with Kerryon Johnson. I don't know how well their offensive line will block (lots of high draft picks on that line...the center, the left tackle, both first-rounders, and at least one of the guards a third rounder), though.

Key will be stopping that running game and making Stafford pass. Kenny Golladay is the real deal - they'll have to put someone big on him, I would think. He's a big guy.

This is awful, but for me, I’ve always bonded with bro’s when it comes to football. And my life experience has a bad taste in my mouth about women. Family not included, If they didn’t have vaginas, I probably wouldn’t want to talk to them. So I don’t like them, generally, anywhere near football
