Dan Savage @Dan_Savage

Extremely saddened to learn of the passing of @NFL & @Packers legend Zeke Bratkowski, who passed away this morning at his home in Santa Rosa Beach, FL. My thoughts are with his family, among them his grandson and my dear friend, Shane.

Were Zeke and Max actually brothers? I see a resemblance.

A backup QB, who is in the Packer Hall of Fame.
Shows how important he was to the Lombardi Era and all those championships.

RIP Zeke. My favorite Zeke memory is him coming in to replace Bart in the 65 playoff game vs the Colts. If you can find the clips of that game, take time to watch.
Bart always spoke highly of Zeke's qb ability and I remember many writers stating he was the best back-up in the league.

A bit of trivia: Zeke Bratkowski led the NCAA in punting average in 1953; Bart Starr was second.

Rest in peace sir. Don't know about his history with the team but you older posters are dropping some cool facts.

Found the link to the game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Puj9Wg1jvMg
1st play of the game Bart broke his ribs trying to tackle a fumbled pass reception and Zeke came in and played pretty good ball.
Amazed how inaccurate the straight on kickers were back then.

The cheerleaders did not want to be there. Looked like Favre in Chicago in 2007 :D

Seasons Greetings!? Huh.

One of the things you see less of with a spread offense and a single back. Hornung has to block an end and he is sitting in the hole. Looks like a physical mismatch.

But Jim Taylor feints like he is going outside and gets the End to open up and gives Hornung the angle on him. They Taylor cuts back inside. Took a single step and opened the play for five yards instead of two.

Bratkowski was a heckuva backup. Much better than most. Probably could have started for a few teams; maybe he did when he left GB. I don't recall.

He started off and on for the Bears and Rams before coming to GB. He was an "old" guy already when he came to GB at the end of his career, which actually dragged out longer than people expected. He seemed to really like his role in GB, and he played quite a bit.
