Was on radio for whole game driving through Illinois. One of you behind the lines needs to put up a pirate radio signal for these occasions. WTMJ in Illinois was getting jammed by frustrated Bear drivers off and on.

So my takeaway (had been brewing for a couple weeks now) is that whatever the Packers and The Flower discovered they could do well in the run game that meshed well with their pass game has been scouted and rendered neutral.

Unless its running Jamaal Williams head first into about three defenders, the run game is blah. Don't think the Packers have the horses for it. Even LEEEROY Jenkins had trouble this week and Linsley is not having a good year. Turner must be a RT or he should be reported for theft.

Nearly ran off the road trying to post that both Bach and Tonyan should be cut for not knowing the snap count. That penalty kills me.

But a few passes to the backs plus Lazard and GMo made the passing game healthier than its been. Could also have been three rookies in the backend for the GI Ants too.

Someone wrote the this team is a 500 team. I think that is harsh, but it might be a 11-5 ceiling, Divisional Round of playoffs kinda thing.

However, given Rodgers, I am glad that The Flower is willing to just go to shotgun to fund some yards somewhere. Puts him miles above a lot of coaches.

Agree with Shadow that the red zone offense has collapsed.

Ryan Wood @ByRyanWood
How did #Packers RT Bryan Bulaga's knee hold up today? "I finished the game just fine."

Pressed on how it feels: "I feel great that we won the game."

So no complaints.

J.K. Scott: 3 punts, average 46.7, Inside 20: 2, Long: 47
Returns: 1 for 12
Net Punt Avg: 42.67

Rob Demovsky @RobDemovsky
Tyler Lancaster has come back from the locker room and is headed toward the bench after being examined for a neck injury.

HE WAS QUESTIONABLE TO RETURN

Matt Schneidman @mattschneidman
Preston Smith down on the field and being attended to by trainers.

HE RETURNED TO THE GAME

I said this before the game, "As bad as our O Line is, we should be able to survive on Rodgers' escapability as we have against everybody other than the Chargers and Niners." That sure came true. The O Line was its mediocre self even with Bulaga back - even less decent run blocking than usual and same lame pass blocking we've seen for a long time. However, the GOAT did the same thing he virtually always does if he gets even that tiny bit of help.

Our D was coming close but basically making the rookie QB look good for most of the game. Fortunately, he did what so many claim to wish Aaron Rodgers would do - get rid of it quick, often throwing into coverage. How many times do I have to say it, We the Packer Fans are So Blessed to have a QB with the good sense to not do that stupid shit and get the inevitable interceptions.

My third favorite team, Houston looks to be pretty blessed tonight too - Deshaun Watson is the next thing to Aaron Rodgers in terms of playing the same kind of game.

I submit that saying the Pack is doing better than the Raiders is setting the bar a little lower than most would hope.

Week 11 ?

The Packers had a bye in week 11 before being destroyed by the 49ers in week 12.

The week 13 victory over the NYGs is indeed another win, but then the NYGs can't be rated a playoff quality team.

Silverstein on same page as I am. Offense not working as designed.

Culprit? Rodgers not quite what he once was. But also too many years drafting defense high.

Exemplary pass protection you say?

The scouting report on the New York Giants’ defense required little more than an examination of the stats. The Giants entered Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers ranked sixth in yards allowed per rushing play but 31st in yards allowed per passing play.

True to form, the Packers didn’t make much headway with running backs Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams. Aaron Rodgers, however, fattened up his touchdown total in a 31-13 beating of the Giants at snowy MetLife Stadium.

Rodgers has had better days but, taking advantage of exemplary pass protection, he threw for 243 yards and four touchdowns.

Giants secondary is young and vulnerable. Playing in the snow benefits the WRs generally, since they know where they're going and the DBs have to not slip.
Lazard is the #2 WR now, GMo had an improved game and MVS/Kumerow were almost invisible. The offense was pretty one-dimensional, and felt like it was improvised by Rodgers (who played well). Put a DB on A.Jones and/or bracket Adams and there's nobody to throw to. That's not going to beat playoff caliber teams.

Tonyan had a bad game blocking and with the penalty. I think Sternberger is better.

Daniel Jones gifted the defense a few picks; a top 10 QB won't do that. This was basically a game they should have won, and did.

The defense played baffling at times -- 3rd or 4th down, and the DBs are dropping into zones well past the 1st down marker, making it easy for the Giants to convert. A team with an OL capable of neutralizing the Smiths will have a field day against this defense. I was pleasantly surprised by their ability to defend and get off the field on 3rd down in September, but since then they've looked a lot like previous iterations of this D going back to Capers.

Kudos to JK Scott and Crosby for kicking well, especially in that weather (and in Mason's case, with a tough week personally). Look around the league at kickers missing FGs -- that field goal to make it 17-7was no gimme.

Part of the reason for those deep zones are getting beat deep with guys out of position.

Savage getting hurt and then losing Green really short circuited the DBs.

Yeah some fine construction there. Maybe if Rodgers hooked up with a sweet lil thang like her instead of high mileage broads he would have more pep in his step.

Mt. Adams down to 6 snaps against Giants. Keke (15 snaps) now the first DL off the bench.

They really need a monster DL. Not so much for pass rush (would be nice) but to shut down two gaps.

I know many in here note how often he gets injured

But Bulaga is one tough SOB; he's played injured a lot for Green Bay, whenever he can for the most part. Most guys would have taken a few weeks off with that injury

It sure seems like M. Adams and/or Keke would be preferable to the undynamic duo from Northwestern.

Lancaster got hurt and I was secretly hoping it would help. But Lowry kept getting snaps.

What happened to Mt. Adams? He seems to have fallen off a cliff. I wonder if he's hurt (maybe that shoulder problem is lingering), or if he's back in Pettine's dog house?

He plays like the bad parts of Raji and Daniels. He is quick enough to get penetration. But that opens gaps and he doesn't always seal the deal.

Too young to know when to do it. Daniels and Raji at their best picked their spots better.

He might fall that far because of size and injuries, but it feels unlikely - there are several QB needy teams, and there's also a higher likelihood Gute picks a more immediate need type of player. They will need to draft and develop a QB, but it might not be this year.
I'd give it another year or two. Rodgers has tread on the tires and if they can pass protect him he'll be at least ok until he's 39 or 40.

I think they've given him a few chances and realize he's not that good. Maybe the light goes on but it feels like he is what he is at this point. It makes sense to give Keke some snaps to develop him and see what they have there. Late game snaps against the NYG are basically garbage time snaps but anything helps.
