Courtney Cronin @CourtneyRCronin
Mackensie Alexander (knee) is OUT for Sunday. Mike Hughes has a neck injury and is being placed on IR. Major blow to the Vikings cornerback unit.

In other news, Minnesota signed veteran return specialist Marcus Sherels ahead of the Saints game. He was with both teams in 2019.

Doug Farrar @NFL_DougFarrar
Welp. Down to Xavier Rhodes, Trae Waynes, and their combined nine touchdowns allowed to one interception. Rhodes has allowed an opponent passer rating of 127.8; Waynes has allowed 109.9.

Against the NFC Offensive Player of the month, and the NFL's most uncoverable WR. Whoopee.

How did it happen that both AFC games are Saturday, and both NFC games Sunday? I could be wrong, but I don't think that ever happened before.

Allow me, CaptainKickass to elaborate for those less tech savvy:

"As it turns out, this approach isn’t unprecedented. In January 2016, both AFC wild-card games were on Saturday, with the Chiefs beating the Texans and the Steelers topping the Bengals. The Packers and Seahawks prevailed in the Sunday NFC games.
Still, since the league went to the current eight-division format in 2002, this is just the second time that the games have been divided up this way."

Thanks for the link, Fosco. For anybody that wants to read it, that retarded pay wall was there the first time I clicked, but when I tried again, the second time is wasn't there for some reason.

It seems to amount to, like somebody said, TV considerations more than anything else - ratings.

Hmmmm. Maybe Tom Brady should consider throwing shorter passes?

Josh Dubow
Since 2010 when Rob Gronkowski entered NFL, Tom Brady has a 104.3 passer rating in games Gronk played (2nd to Mahomes) compared to 88.1 when he didn’t, tied with Matt Schaub for 26th best out of 52 QBs w/ 1000+ attempts

This year I've been finding myself rooting for the bills a bit. They are a fun, athletic team that the city has taken to. Plus it's so miserable up there, and their drought so long, you feel for the fans.
Jesus. The QB talent top to bottom in this years playoffs may be the best ever.

Texans look exactly like a McCarthy coached packers playoff team. 5 run plays called in first half. OLine can't protect against a D that knows you won't run. They seem out of sorts. O'Brien should be next to go without a doubt....serious waste of Deshawn Watson talent.

Didn't see what happened on the touchback in the end zone but even if you don't down it, tossing the ball to the official or dropping the ball intentionally ends the play. You are deemed to have given yourself up.

Vrabel’s decision was mathematically stupid. It was only a 1 point game, not a 33-0 lead. Plenty of time left for NE. The 1:36 Vrabel wasted could’ve came back to bite the Oliers, or whatever they are now, in the ass.

Sure, the GOAT and his offense were struggling. Still, the GOAT is the GOAT. What if NE kicked the game winner as time ran out? Vrabel would be regretting the decision to milk the clock.

texaspackerbacker

That damn phony GOAT you keep propping up was exposed. He has been so great for so long primarily because of great O Line blocking. That has dropped off to only good this season, and damn Brady has gotten a lot worse. His team always made Brady great, in our real GOAT who has always made the team better. For Rodgers' whole career, even this season, the Packers would have fallen through the floor without Rodgers. The Patriots, on the other hand, would have been damn good without Brady.

Time for that Buddy Ryan defense where you just commit penalty after penalty, get to half the distance to the goal line and let the limit of 1/2 the distance (x) let you approach, but never get to, the goal line.

It did seem like inviting disaster. But in a 14-13 game, the odds are a bit more in favor of the clock killing approach. Patriots had been slowing down, not speeding up.

9 AFC championship rings. 6 Super Bowl rings. 3 MVPs. Not bad for a 6th rounder whom Fritz once called the Jim Sorgi of Michigan.

Rodgers' kung fu (skillset) is arguably supreme to any other QB in professional futbol history. But his fluke ring ain't no match for Brady's 6. TB12 is the GOAT - any argument stating otherwise is fraudulent.

The All-Caucasiod OL composing of Bak, Sitton, Linsley, Lang and Bulaga was excellen. Plus, Rodgers threw to some pretty excellent WRs in Jennings, Driver, Cobb, Nelson, Jones, J-Mike, etc. I realize that Rodgers doesn't play defense, nor is he a GM. But Brady ain't such and such either.

If Brooks Bollinger was quarterbacking the Pats, sure. But with the GOAT, the math says every second counts. Getting the rock back after a NE TD with 1:36 left is better than getting it back with 20 seconds.

I was boycotting the NFL, and therefore, didn't catch the game. But what's even more surprising is, Belichick didn't go for it on 4th down after the Oilers milked clock/punted.

Even if the Pats don't convert, the field position forces Oilers into FG mode. Get ball back down 4 with plenty of time for a GOAT TD is more hip than getting ball back at the 1 with 20 seconds left down 1.
