Apparently he suffered from brain cancer.

Rush drummer Neil Peart has died following a lengthy battle with brain cancer.

RIP to a true music legend.

The weirdest Twitter thread in quite some time. Jack Black, Brian Posehn, Vernon Reid, Jillian Barberie, Lou Brutus, NPR and of course, The Fixx. Helen Dale, TMZ, Peter Frampton, Gene Simmons and Variety. I must be in a certain demographic slice now.

Well that just sucks. Man that dude had some major tragedy in his life. Farewell, to a king.

He took the tenacity and edge of drummers like Keith Moon and John Bohnam and add the flair and rythm of jazz greats Buddy Rich and Gene Krupa and created a style that I feel no one will be able to duplicate. Not to mention his song writing abilities.

Truly one of the greats was lost.

His last solo performed on tour starts at 3:12

I still listen to Xanadu, Cygnus X-1, and Hemispheres all the time. The percussion is amazing to hear in isolation, but the integration with the rest of the music and the story make them sublime.

Late here but Neil crushed it always. Loved Rush since the late 70's.
