According to every Lions fan I know (2), we have been paying them off or Rodgers has a commercial coming out at the SB and State Farm really wants him there that week

I think Seattle got hosed, the ball was short. But it hardly cost them the game. Packers might have made a foot on fourth down. Or if they punted, Seattle had to drive a long field and score a TD with about a minute. Not likely.

Completely agree. Total turnaround from Lane Taylor failing to recover his form.

He plus Veldheer and Patrick have made it a strength Not dominant at run blocking, but good enough. And quite good at pass blocking.

Football Outsiders has them 10th at pass blocking and they don’t track length of time the QB has the ball.

They are definitely better than mediocre. Football Outsiders had them 6th at run blocking too.

They have had high profile problems with pass blocking on the road at SD and San Fran facing outside speed. That will be their biggest challenge at Not Candlestick park.

The real challenge with that outside speed advantage is how to make them pay. Typically you can run against that, but SF has such good tackles, they struggle on their inside runs. Turnstile just needs too much help and Linsley, while technically great and athletic, isn’t quite strong enough. Rams ran a lot of screens and quick passes to avoid the rush and escape the tackles.

One X factor is that Flower has been coaching up Sternberger in the offense especially as an interior blocker from both TE and back positions. He almost played half the offensive snaps in the Divisional game. That’s impressive seeing as he was only targeted once as a receiver. SF hasn’t seen him as a run blocker. He’s pretty good. That would really help. Also, he’s not bad chipping and blocking in pass pro.

Should also have Vitale back.

Might see a lot of 2 backs. Williams is very gifted getting open in small areas for Rodgers to throw the screen to him.

Williams is good at those screens. It's one way to slow down a pass rush

They won’t be running many screens. The 49ers killed the Vikings screen game to Cook. He was a complete non-factor.

That's because Cousins throws short passes and screens about 90% of the time, and so San Francisco just sat on that shit.

OK, so second half screens.

TJ Lang said, on Twitter, that power/gap/trap runs work well against fast, stunt happy front 4s like SF. Said Pack should run more of that Sunday.

I asked him if the Packers have practiced those types of plays enough to be good at it at this point in the season and he didn't get back to me...

Hmmmmm???

They have run a limited number of Power and I think I have seen a trap or two. So, maybe?

TJ was probably more worried about his kid sticking a screwdriver into a socket or whether his wife would give him head since he apologized after their fight than he was about getting back to you or me.

Well that’s not necessarily true. He throws bombs to both WRs pretty often. They just had no time against SFs pass rush.

How much would it cost to hire TJ to respond to posts here weekly, during the season, like a mailbag column?

You could use some of the Packer Ref fund to pay him.

I fully expect a call from NFL attorneys next year.

Maybe we could pay for it by charging bitcoins for political commentary (and other fun offenses) in the Packer section.

That’s CAPTAIN Kangaroo to you, mister.

Seriously though, to get Lang, money won’t do it. Need some other kind or catch. Maybe pair him with a famous semi-retired sports writer like Cleft Crusty.

When you said catch, I thought you were going to suggest an entrapment scheme like Godfather II.
